So many small business companies either don't respond in a reasonable time frame, don't show up when they say they will, and are generally unreliable. This business was different, and I would recommend them to others.
They charged very modestly compared to other estimates we got. I would highly recommend them to anyone with wildlife in their attic.
When they opened up the flue they had to pull bird carcasses out of the chimney left by the prior tenants of the apartment before they could get to the bird. When they cleaned up the huge mess inside and trapped the bird they went up on the roof and mended the screen on the chimney stack.
I couldn't have found anyone else that was more professional and caring about the animal that I had trapped in the chimney. I would call them again.
Then I began my search for a REAL emergency critter removal service. Varmint Police actually answered their phone! Sheryl talked to me at length about the problem. She was so calm and reassuring. She said they would be here between 10am and noon but actually were able to come earlier! She and Bill searched the attic for almost an hour trying to find the raccoon. It was hiding very well. They knew it was there but couldn't locate it so they set an inside trap and then knowing it only wanted OUT, set a trap at the attic vent (outside) to capture it. Sunday night the raccoon started making lots of tearing noises again and at about 10PM or so I heard it in the outside trap! Hooray!! So Monday morning I called Bill and Sheryl and told them. They came right over and got the trap off of the attic vent, raccoon and all, and removed the empty trap from the attic. They checked to be sure that the raccoon hadn't had babies. Then Bill put up a new and improved attic vent!! He did an amazing job of it, doing it the right way.
In the beginning, of all of the "emergency" critter control places, Varmint Police was one of the few who answered the phone and were willing to help right away. As a senior citizen, living alone, it's horrifying to hear a wild animal tearing at your ceiling! Places who advertise as emergency services and 24/7, should be truthful. Bill and Sheryl are truthful and the kind of people you'd want to be in your house and take care of a problem. They really care about how they do their work and they care about their customers. Also their knowledge of animals is amazing! They are true "outdoors folks".
It's hard to put into words, how much their work and dedication meant to me. But let me say, they are simply the best. I would NEVER call anyone else.
The charge was also for buying and putting up a new vent, done the right way, under the siding not over it. So very reasonable!!
I am so thankful for Bill and Sheryl!
There must be uninvited friend...
Found this company on Angies list with good reviews. Left a service request on the website.
The lady directly called me, asked a few questions about my issue, and set up the appointment.
Came out the next day. I was happy how they were responsive.
Went through attic, around the house, and explained how small animal can enter the house.
It must have been mice. He explained me how to get rid of the problem, then fixed the hole near my roof, so the animal can't enter again - at no extra cost but just service call fee.
This is a private owned company - wife gets the calls and set up the appointment, and husband comes out to fix the problem.
You might think it would better to use big company....
Well, not all the time, and my experience was much better with this small company.
Years ago, I had used a big company for critter control, but I was not happy at all.
They set up the traps, and kept charging me $75 every time something is captured in the traps, but they didn't capture the one that was entering under my deck. I ended up paying more than $500 but got nothing fixed...
This gentleman has lived with catching and hunting animals for his life, so he knows what animal is entering by just inspecting the hair and knows what animal it is.
He is the right guy and his wife is very nice and kind. You can't go wrong with the service from this company.
Very highly recommended to everyone.
Thanks.
I called several of the bigger names that came up first on Google, many who listed "weekends" or "24/7" service, only to hear that they couldn't help me until Monday or they didn't answer at all.
Luckily, Sheryl at Varmint Police answered the phone and told me they could certainly help me! It's very unnerving to hear something crawling around above you... there is no way I could have waited until Monday. She called me back within 15 minutes to let me know her husband, Bill, would be out within the hour. I was so relieved! He arrived within the promised time, set two traps.... and we actually nabbed my friend before Bill left my house! As I suspected, it was a squirrel. Bill carted him away and left the other trap to make sure he was a loner. I'm so glad he left the other trap because within the hour I realized once again that I was not alone. I couldn't believe I was hearing the noise again!
Once I confirmed the 2nd squirrel was in the trap, Bill came out to my home again within an hour and after dinner on a Saturday evening. I couldn't get other companies to help at all and here Bill came to my home twice on Saturday!
I am very impressed by the service and professionalism of both Bill and Sheryl. They could not have been nicer or more helpful.
I can't imagine anyone being more knowledgeable and experienced than Bill. Not to mention their price was very reasonable and lower than some of the other companies I called. I also prefer to support small business owners.
Call Varmint Police before calling anyone else. I can't recommend them enough.... thank you Bill and Sheryl!
When we called "The Varmint Police" they were the only business that actually answered their phone that late (even though others advertised emergency services), and a really nice woman began to ask specific questions about vents, chimneys, etc. By the time mom finished answering her questions, the lady had calmed her down, told her she was safe for the night, and they'd be there first thing in the morning. We realized that the reason mom hadn't heard the (nocturnal) racoon before was probably because she was never IN the kitchen at that hour, at least not while wearing her hearing aids!
So, amid movers and packers, "The Varmint Police" crawled up though the closet into her attic and set a trap. the next morning a #25 pound racoon (!!) was sulking in the trap.
$180 later, mom didn't have to go to her closing and explain about the critter in the attic to the new owners, and could rest easy that no one would be confronted by "Rocky Racoon."
