State of the Art Handyman

Art has done multiple projects for me over the last 12 years. He's done everything from fine carpentry to building self wicking vegetable garden tubs, to building a gazebo, to electrical projects, to plumbing repairs and upgrades. Some of the projects have been simple and covered only a few hours of labor, some of the projects have been extensive and lasted over a week. Art has always made sure the project was done to his standards - which are nothing short of exceptional. The quality of his work cannot be overstated. He's a great collaborator, an honest man and a creative problem solver. I consider myself very lucky to have met him.

Art communicates well and takes pictures to explain everything. He works independently and will give you good references if it is work he does not do (eg septic). His prices are reasonable, but he is busy, so if it isn't an emergency, you may have to wait.

Could not have gone better. Every time I asked for a modification, no matter how complex it seemed, Art came up with the solution and his work was impeccable. He's a very intelligent, resourceful, detail oriented, precise, creative and talented person. He doesn't believe in "good enough" - it has to be 100% precise before Art will consider it done. I've had Art do things as simple as install new light fixtures and as complex as building this gazebo. You cannot find anyone easier to work with or more talented. His rates are reasonable and he sticks to his promises. Electrical and Building inspector both signed off on their first inspection of Art's work.

Art is a perfectionist and I know that I am getting the job done right. He will do the research needed for a project and if it is not within the scope of his expertise, he will help you find someone else to get the job done. I have been dealing with him him for about ten years and have always been satisfied with his work.

Art has worked on our home for over ten years now. He candy just about anything you ask. His pricing is reasonable and very well work done. Cleans up after and makes sure you are happy with the work always.

Art is really excellent and very honest and professional, he did a great job and seems to find great options and ways to get things done that are out-of-the-box. I have used him before and have never been disappointed, he does first class work and that is hard to find.

Projects which State of the Art Handyman has done for us include replacing a water supply line and reseating and caulking a toilet, fixing a shower faucet and replacing a burnt out electrical socket.

We were not able to find an exact match to the stone tile that was in the kitchen, so Art had to work with something that was close in looks, but smaller in size. The result might have been ugly, if not for the extremely detailed work that Art did. He was able to cut the tile and piece separate pieces together, so they are the same size as the original. He also did an amazing job matching the grout that was already there.

Art is very detail oriented and always does a super job of cleanup.

Art was great to work with from start to finish. He really cares that the job is done right and communicates all the details with with what was wrong and what he is going to do to address the issues. He would always give me a heads up on what time he was going to show up and make sure to communicate what he was going to accomplish for the day. I had a lot of work done and I was truly impressed with Art's work and professionalism. I would definitely reach out to Art again for any future projects.

I contacted State of the Art Handyman Service because he is close to where I live and also because of very high Angie's List ratings.  He did not disappoint!  When I called he explained he had 3 weeks of work ahead of me and asked if I could wait.  My belief is that contractors that are good are usually busy so that was not a problem.  I actually had to wait longer than 3 weeks but Art was direct in communicating the delay and when he would arrive to do the work.
Art arrived on time and spent almost the whole day.  I handed him a list when he arrived and he went right to work, meticulously finishing each job before starting the next.  He also made sure to explain what he had done and wanted to make sure I approved of the result.  He was a good listener.  Instead of just jumping in to make the repair, he wanted to know exactly what was wrong from my point of view.  This type of problem solving approach is what makes him so successful as a handyman.
The surprise of the day came when Art discovered there was faulty ground wiring in the bathroom where he replaced the 2 GFI outlets.  He actually troubleshooted an issue that a previous licensed electrician installed and overlooked.  We took photos of the problem and I sent those photos to the contractor and licensed electrician who had originally did the wiring.  The initial reaction was that Art was a handyman, not an electrician, so he must not know what he was talking about.  But a couple of days later, upon my insistence and Art's photos (with explanation), the electrician came back to check it out.  It turns out State of the Art Handyman knew EXACTLY what he was talking about!
I would use Art again for miscellaneous work around the house or at my place of business.  He has a wide range of expertise, is an excellent communicator, and is fairly priced.  The downside is the wait to get on his schedule but that's because he's so good.    

Art was great to work with and we will be calling him for other issues that come up on our rental house. When I first spoke with him he informed me he would be willing to do the work but his schedule was pretty booked and he would be about 3 weeks out. I decided to wait since I had not heard back from anyone else we called. Around the 3 week mark I contacted him again to check and see what his schedule looked like, he said he would be there on Tuesday or Wednesday. He informed me when he got there to make sure he was at the right house as my tenants were not home, he sent me pictures of the gutters and once the job was completed he sent me additional pictures to show me that they were cleaned out. He was flexible by allowing me to mail him a check for the services. I would recommend him to anyone that needs some help with gutters!! I'm sure the other work he does is great as well!
