Offering a large variety of mechanical services for residential and commercial applications, Technical Hot and Cold can accommodate any mechanical service repair, maintenance or installation in the Metro Detroit area. Technical Hot and Cold provides residential and commercial heating and cooling, plumbing and air duct services. We also service and install commercial boilers and refrigeration units for customers across the Southeast Michigan area.

After calling DTE twice with no resolution, they inspected the AC and determined the source of my problem was not the AC at all, but an electrical issue that required the expertise of a licensed electrician. They were honest brokers that literally saved my family’s life. I am forever grateful for their integrity and professionalism. When the time comes to replace my furnace and/or AC, they will be my 1st choice.

Anytime trying to do business over the internet I'm cautious and hesitant cuz one never knows about the character of the business nor the authenticity of the reviews. I did not use Angie's list but wanted to share my experience with this company. Thus far Technical Hot & Cold has been very helpful. They went the extract step to phone me to let me know the part I needed was not at their main shipping shop but at another shop and would it be acceptable for the part to ship the next day. I agreed and not only did they ship as committed but they upgraded the shipping service without an additional cost. Jennifer was very pleasant to work with and though I haven't installed the new part as of this writing, I wanted to also take the extra step to write about my experience so far. I suspect the new part will perform in a similar fashion to their professionalism and will return to add another comment once I do so. Please take a chance on this company, my experience has been great with them.

Called in June because my air conditioner wasn't working well. Technician, Josh came out. Determined the problem was likely a bad evaporator coil causing a leak. Added dye to track source of leak and confirm if the problem was the evaporator coil. With the dye, I was able to determine the leak was indeed the evaporator coil and called Technical Hot & Cold in mid August to replace. Josh was on vacation and would be back the following Monday and would call me to schedule a time to come out. He came out the following Friday and replaced the coil. Happy with the quality of his work. Air conditioner is working well so far. Not happy, that due to miscommunication between employees at Technical Hot & Cold, Josh had come out to my house on Monday when I wasn't home instead of calling me as I was told he would. After I paid the bill on Friday, I noticed $62.50 charge from a Monday visit which was not removed after I indicated that there had been no appointment scheduled for Monday. No times were discussed with the person I spoke with on the phone, no appointment was set. I would never had set up an appointment on Monday due to my work schedule. I'm on the fence if I would use them again but I would definitely pay close attention to the billing next time before paying them.

The scheduler was fantastic and professional. The technician was a young, hard working man that had a great personality and a desire to get busy. He originally identified that the blower fan was bad and I agreed to pay him to get the part and put it in at an additional cost. Once he installed the part, he realized that the compressor was completely cracked. I am not certain whether it is correct to assume the compressor is good when performing the diagnosis or if he missed a step. Either way, I agreed that I would pay the additional 2 hours for the work that brought me no value and felt I would get some help on the new unit needed by his sales department. And that's when things fell apart. I contacted the salesman and shared that I just spent $332 on a service that brought me no value. I explained that I was seeking some consideration for that amount when he quoted me a new unit. This was their business to win if they had treated me fairly. Instead, I feel very strongly that the sales professional was viewing my issue (crazy hot) as a right to hang on a ridiculous price. No consideration was given my generosity to pay the full service when, in fact, I could have denied the invoice as the unit's issues were not really identified. I got two other bids and they were both $800 - $1000 less (on a basis of $4200 as quoted by this company). I was very disappointed with the salesperson. The truth is, I do not get the sense that the salesperson's methods represent the standards of the company because of the professionalism of the other members I dealt with. Either way, I would not use this company again. I own a service business and we try to take extra care of customers that work to be fair with us. We do not try and use their fairness to gain extra dollars.

He ultimately wound up taking it apart, then said he couldn't put it back together, then said I needed a new furnace. I called a friend of mine who does the same work and he, after having to get new parts for it, was able to fix it an hour later.

The administrative staff was great, however I was not impressed with the service I received. I paid for a diagnostic that could have quickly been resolved in less than 5 minutes. The information I received was not helpful and confusing. I feel like  I wasted $82.50 to be told my system was old and couldn't be fixed up. Also, I was not satisfied with the follow up. This is not a company I would recommend.

"I'm truly sorry to hear that you were not pleased with your service. We do strive for customer satisfaction. However, we did do what was promised in the special, and what you had purchased: a flat-rate 30-minute diagnostic service call special. After a full evaluation of the system, which does usually take about 30 minutes, our technician found the condenser fan motor needed replacement (it was not running at all), and the start capacitor was missing from the unit altogether. While tracking down the parts needed for repair, we discovered that due to the age of the unit, the parts for this unit are obsolete and are no longer available. Since we were therefore unable to provide a quote for repair, we submitted a quote to you for replacement of the whole AC unit. Again, we are very sorry you were not pleased with your 30-minute diagnostic service call."

Punctual and polite. I took all of 5-10 min to complete. I was a little POd that I had to spend nearly $100 for such a short job, but that was more directed toward CoD than provider- you have to pay them for their time of course.

City of Livonia required a furnace inspection for my new rental property.  They arrived on time for the inspection, where they immediately contacted me when they found a potentially dangerous problem with my furnace.  I replaced the furnace myself, and they came back to inspect it again, at no additional charge.  They gave me the peace of mind to know that the new furnace was operating properly and safely.

Technician was on time, pleasant, and professional.  Service exceeded my highest hopes.  Unit hadn't been serviced in over 10 years so it took a while but no surcharge, agreed price was honored!  Cleaning was very thorough, a very good value for the price paid.
