 + 1 moreI took advantage of what I thought was a great price for a steel roof. The quality of materials was better than anything I have seen. Tear off and clean up was quick and complete. Clean up was every day actually. 2 gable and vents installed and siding patched were not expected but that and many other extras were no charge. What I ended up with is like a steel armor coat for a roof. My heating bill actually dropped a little which surprised me but the difference in cooling ability is phenomenal. My AC last year would run for hours after the sun went down trying to cool all the insulation in my attic. Now on hot days after the sun gets off my roof it cools off well before the light is out of the sky. My AC used to run constantly when outside temps got above 85, now its 95. Money well spent!

Description of Work: We hired Walt Schuhmacher of Glenwood Builders in June 2013 to put a steel roof on our new construction home. At this time Walt requested a sizable down payment. We paid reluctantly as this was the only down payment requested by any of our contractors before work was performed. In September, Walt told us that the roofing materials had been purchased but this was proven to be false. Walt also requested more money in September but we declined. By October 2013 very little work had been done and Walt continuously failed to return my phone calls. All construction had been stopped for months until a roof was completed. The long delay proved to be very expensive as all subcontractors had to be rescheduled, not to mention the down payment we never recovered. We hired a new roofing company who discovered that much of the work performed by Glenwood Builders had to be fixed as we had found 5 leaks inside our home. Our dealings with Walt Schuhmacher was the worst experience in the construction of our new home.
