Todd Hoffman

The rough electrical was fine. Hoffman Electric sent Scott to perform most of the work. Scott was conscientious and professional. How things changed when we got to the finish portion of the job. Scott was no longer working for Hoffman, and, in his place, a young man who did not know what he was doing was sent. Several of the switches were wired for the wrong fixture. When we discovered this, we were told that to change it would require significant damage to the drywall and take hours of labor (which would be charged to us even though the electrician install deviated from electrical plan). Strangely, when our handyman came in after the house was completed, he did the job in fifteen minutes without disturbing any drywall! A ceiling fan/light Hoffman's guy installed never functioned. Hoffman insisted it was installed correctly and that the fan was defective. After enduring the hassle involved with securing in-home warranty service (and living for three weeks with no light in that room), the electrician sent by the fan's manufacturer discovered in five minutes that the fan was not receiving power and quickly thereafter determined that it had been wired incorrectly. He fixed it quickly, but we had to pay his service call and labor charges because the fan clearly was not defective. So far, Hoffman has refused to reimburse us the $197 we paid to correct his error. Unhappy with the amount he was getting for the job (the electrical plan on which he bid the job did not change), he tried to gouge us with ridiculous "extras." Finally, despite being provided with CFL bulbs, he installed very low quality traditional bulbs, many of which have burned out less than 3 months after being installed. This is particularly annoying because we have very high ceilings and changing bulbs is a hassle. Throughout the job, Todd Hoffman was rude and taciturn. His attitude and his work reflected the fact that he did not care at all if his customers were satisfied.
