The initial visit went very well--I thought. Sadly, the rest did not go at all. And that was the problem.
Description of Work: I contacted Rob late last summer about painting and repairing the exterior of our big, old house in a historic district after finding him here on Angies List with great reviews, and he came over promptly to have a look. I liked him very much and was impressed with his long experience and apparent expertise in his field, so was pleased when he said he'd get back to me in the next week or so with an estimate and we'd go from there. I waited. And then I waited an extra week. Nothing. So I called again, thinking perhaps an email had been misdirected...? Nope. He'd been busy due to inclement weather catch-up, but apologized profusely and promised, once again, to be in touch within about a week. Rinse and repeat. Two weeks later, I called AGAIN. This time he had had a family emergency and had to make a trip out of state, where he still was. Totally understandable. He promised to be in touch--you guessed it--within about a week, and this time would come back to discuss how to proceed in person. That was almost 6 months ago--at that point, too late in the season to start hunting for a replacement. I'm still waiting for any word--phone, email, smoke signal, carrier pigeon... And no, not counting on it. His family emergency may have gotten worse at the time, or something else may have happened, or he may just not want to deal with this house. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing. What I do know is that I have a house that's seriously in need of attention, and at this point have no clue where I'll find a professional to handle it. I really dislike writing this review, because he was very pleasant and, I'm pretty confident, does know his stuff as a painter. But now I'm left high and dry, my home has deteriorated over another winter, and likely will cost even more to deal with this year. No one is obligated to take on any job they aren't comfortable with, obviously, but a little COMMUNICATION can go a long way. It is not rocket science to PICK UP A PHONE. It also is pretty basic Good Business. I confess to being really disappointed. I'm also angry--partly with myself for being far too patient, because I should have known better. I had very high hopes. Fair warning to others. Until you actually see ladders and paint and humans on your premises, don't relax.
