Great! Really enjoyed the numerous times we were able to collaborate online. Also really appreciated being able to have our interior designer also join the calls. Ed Deering has provided the design work and architectural blueprints for over 50 of our company's residential remodeling projects. Ed specializes in live, interactive OnlineDesign consultations, utilizing the finest design software available. I've known and worked with Ed for 20 years. It was an excellent experience, we came to Ed with nothing more than pictures of examples of what we wanted our house to look like inside and out. Ed's ability to understand architectural aesthetics is one of the many strengths he posses. Another strength of his understanding of space and functionality of the designs he creates. This calmed our concerns about overly large rooms or spaces that are too small to use. Through the process of design, one thing I really appreciate is his ability to know what he is drawing, along with its feasibility. Ed is one of few in this business who can draw an idea on paper and thoroughly understand how things will work in the field. For these many reasons, I wouldn't have any reservations recommending EF Deering for any job from a bathroom remodel to a new home. You would be hard-pressed to find someone with more technical knowledge of residential construction.

We hired Ed to help design (did a lot of the design ourselves) and build a brand new wrap around front porch for our 1800's home. The age of the home presented many challenges, which Ed and his team handled expertly. We are happy with the consideration of the details that went into the design and the quality of the work. We put this quote out to several contractors, and Ed's price was the most reasonable. In the end, we did end up having to pay more than Ed's original quote, which was disappointing. But overall, it was still lower then other companies, and Ed worked with us to keep the project on budget. Another nice thing about working with Ed is the excellent communication. It is difficult to get any contractor to call you back, let alone for them to call you timely and routinely. For the most part, we always knew when his crew was going to be working, when they were off, what they were working on, etc. The only negative I would say is that the work site was not kept very clean. But they did clean up nicely once the job was finished. Bottom line, if you are looking for quality work, at a reasonable price, done in a timely manner... Ed is your man. Thanks for making our dream a reality!

This was a challenging job that required deep knowledge and experience in roof framing and structural repairs. Ed and his team did an excellent job and came up with creative solutions to some very tricky problems. His guys showed up on time every day, worked hard, and got the job done on time.

The work exceeded my expectations. The deck was built in just a matter of days. The workers were there when they said they would be. They picked up after themselves and were never just sitting around taking a break when I would go out and see the progress.

Ed and his team did top shelf work first removing our old decking material, repairing and replacing all previous deck components with new and then installing the Nexan LockDry aluminum decking. Ed and his team were professional, ensuring top quality work with attention to detail. They kept us well informed every step of the way. Not only was he responsive to our calls, he proactively called us to tell us what was happening next and when it would happen. The work was a little more than our budget was ready for, but you absolutely get what you pay for. We wanted quality, and we got it. This was a really nice job.

Excellent I went from a very boxed in area with a disconnected formal dining room that never got used except by the kids to a full open concept huge kitchen. I couldn't be more pleased and I definitely LOVE my kitchen. Good referrals to the contractors doing the painting and flooring. Ed did the design work and I would have to say he has vision where I would have not thought of some of the details. The addition is very nice and looks good. We had some rough issues with surprises that were not expected and Ed dealt with them with no issue. He also had a bad flooring subcontractor that refused to show up for work but he was able to eventually get them to complete the work. Can not blame the general contractor for a bad subcontractor. Glad we had him to deal with them. Trades are extremely busy here in Michigan and you are at their mercy for timing. If we were trying to deal with them on our own it would have been painful. Ed was able to get them in keep them coordinated and finish the job.

Ed Deering was great to work with and listened to all of our concerns. He clearly explained what needed to be done and how it would be done. His subcontractors were excellent, too, especially the tiler and painter. They all paid close attention to detail, cleaned up on a daily basis, and came on the days they said they would come. We would definitely recommend working with Ed, and if we decide to do any further work on our home, we will definitely contact him ourselves.

Ed and his crew did another great job for us. Ed and his team remodeled 4 bathrooms in our 1924 home (3 in 2012 and 1 in 2015). We have used Ed since 2012 on every remodeling project and the outcome is always excellent. Ed is a very hands on carpenter and project manager who anticipates issues and problems that inevitably crop up in a major remodeling project. Ed uses software to design the project and to highlight placement of electrical, lighting, plumbing, etc, so you have a well thought out project plan. Ed even uses Go to Meeting to share his preliminary plans with you so he uses technology to help the homeowner and tradesman follow the plan. Ed will not rest until he finds the right solution(s) and will explain to you the logic behind his solution(s). Our den required a significant amount of finished carpentry in a room with less than perfectly plumb and square characteristics. Ed just finds a way to make the end result look perfect. He has skilled and seasoned tradesmen (i.e. electrical, plumbing, dry walling, window installers) each of which cleared rough and final inspections on the first round. Ed is known by our local building department and I mean in a good way. We live in a community of homeowners who do a significant volume of remodeling and the building department sees a large number of tradesman and contractors. They know that Ed's team will get the job done right and not cut corners. We could not be happier and will continue to use Ed for all future projects.

I contacted Ed and he came out the next day to see the project and to take measurements. In about a week we had an online meeting, very convenient, and we reviewed the design. Changes were made on the spot and Ed sent me the renderings. I printed out the five variations we had and made our decision. I send Ed an email with the design we wanted and a week later we had our drawing package.

Ed and his fantastic crew came through on a pinch!!! I am a contractor and my crew was doing a job for a previous customer of Eds, 5 boards were scratched and needed to be replaced. I contacted Ed, he was prompt, Honest, Fair and very polite. Easy to worth with and a funny man. I called to see how much it would cost to take out a load bearing wall. Ed Deering came out to my house and gave me a very competitive price compared to other contractors I have called. He was also able to do the job in a timely manner when other contractors were not available for a month or more. Once I asked him to do the job he was there the next week and finished the project in a very timely manner (in my case it was done in one day). When I checked on the work for the first time I was blown away at the quality of the job. everything was prepared for hanging drywall (I wanted to do this myself) and the work was done perfectly. Another thing that surprised me is that they left my house cleaner than when they came! throughout the entire process he was responsive when I called and left a message and was excellent to work with. Highly recommended if you want work with someone nice and does quality work at a competitive price.

Ed created the design for the columns from a picture and worked with tile company to insure that the railing base was installed and in the right place. Him and his team then installed a 10'x3' L-shaped railing to protect the area around the basement stairway. The railing was pieced together and the 34 ballisters were lined up perfectly on the first attempt. He and his team also worked around their already busy schedule to get this done for us before the Christmas and Holiday season.

I am preparing to remodel a master bedroom and bath including adding a 2nd floor laundry. I wanted input from an experienced contractor on alternative designs, issues, and approaches before I started the selection process for a contractor. Ed Deering did not disappoint. Ed met me at my house (responsive, punctual) to understand the house makeup, my remodel objectives, and my preliminary design. He proceeded to address my concerns, identify other potential issues, identify design alternatives, and provide cost ranges for various aspects of the project. I feel much better prepared to discuss my project with other contractors in the selection process, and Ed's company will be one that I will consider.
