The good: they were friendly and helpful at the time of the initial sale. Price was OK, they had a good selection of granite, and they were informative about how they install etc. The bad: the granite countertop quality was marginal. The 3 faucet holes aren't spaced evenly. The oval undermount sink was put in crooked and it's glued in place that way. They cracked the slot for the sink mounting bracket, and shifted it back a bit, so perhaps that is why the sink is crooked? They didn't support the overhanging side of the counter even though they said they would during the write up. We had to request that support when the install was finished, and they initially told us to get some wood and do it ourselves. But then they did add the support. The porcelain sink itself has gouges in the drain sealing area, so getting it to seal to the drain pipe was a challenge. Finally, the worst.. the backsplash was cut too short, so it had a 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap between the glued pieces. They were glued together with a bright white epoxy that wasnt color matched, is a bit jagged, and stood out terribly. We had to have them come back to fix the backsplash the best they could but it's still not as nice as one would expect. The new section looks good. The older section still has the white seams. I had high hopes because they seemed pretty nice, and had a good selection of granite, but unfortunately the quality just wasn't there on the finished counter. Maybe we just got a bad one, or they were in a hurry? I don't know, but, I can't recommend them. We had to call them multiple times to schedule to get the backsplash fixed and not once was there an "I'm sorry" for the inconvenience. I won't use them again because I just don't trust the quality of their work.

Walked in, the woman working helped me find a threshold out of some spare tile sitting there. They cut and polished it for me. Took no more than an hour.

Very prompt and quick to schedule. Installers were careful not to bump any walls bringing in the large pieces.

I absolutely could not be more pleased!
We stopped by the somewhat hidden showroom on Airport Road in Waterford and a young lady assisted us with making our selection. She gave us a nice size sample of the granite we selected (about 6 inches). It was so helpful to be able to look at a HUGE piece of granite rather than a 4and quot; puck like the big box retailers use for samples. The yard is full of granite slabs and we had a hard time narrowing down our selection because so many would have gone nicely with our color palette.
The owner was 15 minutes early to the measuring / quote appointment and the installers were 15 minutes early for the installation appointment! My neighbor is a hardwood floor installer and he said that there is no one better and no one more reasonably priced. He was so right! Our kitchen layout is a little tricky and we did a and quot;fancyand quot; drop-in cook top area and the counter top is perfectly sculpted to the shape of the cabinets. Because of the size of the kitchen, there were two counters that required seaming. You would not be able to locate them if you didn't know where they were! Here is the best part: it was 6 days between the quote and the installation. I have heard nightmare stories of people waiting several weeks for granite which renders your kitchen unusable. There was not a single area of opportunity with this company. The owner and employees were professional, helpful and punctual from beginning to end.

They did a decent job in the bathrooms and laundry room, but their sloppy and careless workmanship in the kitchen was a major disappointment, which causes us to question their dedication to quality and customer service and even their competency in some cases. Although this company is willing to try to fix their problems if you complain loud and long enough, that gets real old real quick, especially when it's disrupting the main room in your home - the kitchen. They should spend more effort in doing the job right the first time. Our experiences and complaints are outlined below in chronological order:
1. Because of the size or our kitchen counter, we needed 2 pieces of granite joined together at a seam, and we knew that no seam would be invisible. We did not expect miracles. What we got from Discount Marble and Granite looked like two random pieces of the same type of granite joined together, with little apparent effort on their part to match the two pieces in their shop before they brought them to our house. One was substantially darker than the other at the seam, which made it very noticeable. It's almost like they didn't even look at it in advance. At the time they were installing it, we questioned the difference in color and was told that the two pieces had been worked a few days apart and that the darker one was still wet and would lighten up in a few days as it dried out. It did not. More on this in item 4 below.
2. Immediately after the installation, we noticed a few other problems. For starters, we chose a 50/50 double bowl undermount sink with one and quot;centerand quot; hole pre-drilled for a faucet. Unfortunately for us, the hole was not drilled exactly in the center but was offset by a half inch. This might have been negligible if we had chosen a single-bowl sink. But the 50/50 sink and its divider right down the middle made the off-center faucet hole all the more noticeable. The owner offered to and quot;elongateand quot; the hole so that
we could push the faucet more toward the center of the sink. The base of the faucet would have covered the wider hole just fine, but the rubber gasket that was built into the base of the faucet was designed for the round diameter of the original hole, so we would have had a problem with water leaking in around the base of the faucet and into the cabinet beneath. We could have looked into finding a bigger rubber seal for the base or applied silicone around the base of the faucet, but it would have been so much simpler if they had just drilled the hole in the center of the cutout opening in the first place. We decided to mount the faucet off-center.
3. Another problem we noticed right away was the granite piece used for our kitchen island (roughly 3 by 5 ft) had numerous small pits in its surface, some as big as 1/8 inch in diameter. We counted 20 of them and stopped counting. (In the end, it was probably closer to 40.) It almost looked like someone took a very small ice pick to it. These pits went below the polished surface of the granite into the chalky grayish-white sub-surface. On a kitchen surface they were ideal spots for food particles and liquids to gather and become a breeding ground for bacteria. When we pointed out these flaws we were told it was and quot;characteristics of the granite.and quot; We weren't happy with that explanation. We had over 90 sq ft of the same type of granite installed as part of this job and only this one 15 sq ft section exhibited this problem. We took a closer look at all the other granite they installed and could not find a single pit like these. We checked with other granite companies, and were told that while such pitting can occur, it is customary for them to check for such defects and correct them (by filling the pits with epoxy) before installing it. The Discount guys were not happy with our repeated complaints about this, but after 3 visits they did fill all of the pits we pointed out. It looks fine now, but this should not have dragged out so long, and we should not have needed to prod them to fix it, and it should never had been a issue in the first place if the piece had been properly inspected and prepped beforehand.
4. Now, back to the problem seam. We waited a few days after the installation for the granite to dry out, and the seam still stuck out like a sore thumb, so we called them back out. They said they could apply a color enhancer to the lighter piece to darken it up. They applied the enhancer and at first it did seem to darken it. They told us to let it sit a few hours and then wipe it off. When we did, it rubbed off the surface entirely as a greasy dark substance and left the underlying granite unchanged. We then realized they neglected to first strip off the sealer they had applied at installation, so the enhancer had no chance of penetrating into the granite. You would think that their service guys would have known better that the sealer needed to be stripped off first. In the meantime, we showed the mismatched pieces to several building tradesmen with decades of experience in kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects, and they all were emphatic in their opinion that those pieces should have never been delivered to a customer with such an obvious color discrepancy. It was pretty obvious to them that nobody at Discount had taken a serious look in advance at these pieces where they would be joined. Or, if they did look at them, they just didn't care. Either way, it's a sad reflection on their professionalism.
5. We called back again and asked the owner to come out and look at it. He admitted right away that it was a bad mismatch. He offered to have his guys cut the granite apart at the seam and replace the lighter piece with a darker one. We were reluctant to jump into that because of the tear-out and mess involved, and also because our faith in this company was waivering. He also offered to refund $500 to us to just leave it as-is, and told us we could move the toaster over onto the seam to help hide it. We did not like that option either since these new granite countertops were a big deal for us and we wanted them to look as good as possible. So we told him we would try the color enhancer again, but this time they would first strip off the sealer. So his guys came back to the house and did that, and we waited a few days. There was still no change, and the seam was just as obvious as before.
6. Although we told the owner that our next step would be replacement of the lighter section, the more we thought about this, the more worried we got. What we had seen so far from this company had not inspired a lot of confidence on our part. We feared that attempting to replace one section might make things even worse. And if they could not do a decent job of matching the original two sections while they had them together in their shop, how in the world could they pick out a new piece all by itself and expect it to be a match to the other piece that was installed in our kitchen? The owner was adamant that he would replace only one piece. We also would have to remove our cooktop and refrigerator to make room for the re-work, put up with another round of serious dust as the granite was cut, and keep our kitchen in a state of disarray for as long as this dragged out - all to do a fix that we weren't sure would produce the desired results. And we would be going thru all of this aggravation for something that could have much more easily been done right the first time with a little more attention by the company upfront. We were leaning toward taking the owner's offer of $500 and just living with it. We called their office and told them that, and asked the owner to call us. He never did call us, but a few days later we got a check in the mail for $500. We decided to cash it and chalk this whole mess up to experience.
7. Unfortunately, our experience was not over. On Mothers Day our undermount kitchen sink collapsed. The adhesive had separated from the underside of the granite. The sink did not fall down completely because it was partially held up by the PVC drain pipes and a bunch of clea

It turned out to be very nice. They were easy to deal with and were on time. They even showed up early for one appointment which was great. They let me come and work with them with laying out the different pieces of the granite slab. They were very accommodating and I think I can count on them because they are reliable. They were very competitive on pricing.

We had our granite picked out at Hiome Depot and stopped by these guys on a whim to make sure we at least didn't buy from the first option we looked at. I am glad we did. They were very easy to work with, knowledgeable, and ended up costing less than the Home Depot counters would have. The best part is that you are dealing with the guys who are going to do the work, not subcontract it out to some other guys.
The end result was fantasatic. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Make sure you stip by to check them out before buying from the big box stores.

I dealt with the owner much of the time during the ordering process and he was always very helpful (as was the rest of the staff that I worked with). There were many choices available and I believe I got a good price for the one I chose. The entire process from the measurement to the install went well. They arrived on time and the install was done very professionally. The counters still look great 2 years later.

I took them my design measurements, they cut it to my specifications for a half bath and the kitchen island and we picked out exactly what we wanted. We picked it up and we put it in. They were very accommodating.
