Patrick, Joshua, Brandon, Luke, and Rieley did an outstanding job of moving us from our family home of 33 years to our new condo 10 miles away. They arrived promptly at 8 AM, and had us completely moved and settled in by 11:30 AM! Extremely professional, positive, courteous, and careful! Highly recommend them!

We moved to a new house which was about 8 miles away. This company did an excellent job of moving things. We did not have time to pack everything and they all of our dishes. Everything arrived at our new house in good condition. These guys took care of our personal items and made sure everything was done to our satisfaction. Initially we told them that we would do our own packing and they arrived and discovered we needed help, they called in additional guys to make sure the job was completed quickly without incurring overtime charges.

They did a great job and were very good at not hitting walls or damaging boxes. All of our items arrived in perfect condition. They also packed up our garage and basement. This was done very fast with their large team. The only minor issue I had was with the trash that was left by the workers in the garage. Not a big issue but maybe leave a trash can out for them so they have a place to throw out their lunch waste and water bottles. I would definitely hire them again and would recommend them to anyone I know.

Changing Places Moving & Services should change their name to Breaking Places Demolition & Disservices. Maybe a motto of "Throwing and Kicking Stuff Since 1979" would have better prepared us for what we were in for. We moved from Ann Arbor to Bloomfield Hills, with approximately a 2 month hiatus between, during which time the contents of our home needed to be stored. We obtained a half dozen estimates, of which Changing Places, in terms of cost of relocation, ran close to the middle of the road. The primary reasons we went with Changing Places was because their storage was more affordable, and because they could accommodate our difficult schedule. I'm not sure if the Changing Places furniture assassins had a personal vendetta with our personal belongings, but if a WWE crew had presented themselves with a wrecking ball and a dump truck, I might have expected similar results. Some of the stuff we packed ourselves, however there was a sizeable portion of items that were packed by the company. It didn't matter who packed it. Almost everything breakable was broken by the time Changing Places was done with it. The only difference was you got a few cents a shattered pound for the boxes and crates they packed. Boxes marked fragile, crates, furniture, walls, doors, floors - the team at Changing Places is pretty indiscriminate; they're equal opportunity demolitionists. Most reputable moving companies show up and prep the house before starting the moving process, covering wood flooring and tight corners, and then they allot a reasonable time frame to load and unload furniture carefully. With Changing Places there was no preparation prior to the movement of items, and clearly there was zero regard for the way our belongings were handled and stored behind our backs. They just showed up and started hefting stuff into their trucks in double time. I had several boxes with expensive decoration pieces, that were carefully bubble wrapped, and the boxes all showed up in our new house looking like Mr. Bean had delivered them. Everything was in pieces. I had an exquisite Italian marble table that was extremely solid that I bought for several thousand dollars. It was truly irreplaceable. I owned it and loved it for 10 years, and it had survived two moves prior to this. The guys at Changing Places were more than up for a challenge. The company crated it in front of us and somehow still managed to destroy/disappear it behind our backs. No one at Changing Places had the iota of courtesy or professionalism that it would have required to pick up the phone and let us know what had happened. Instead, two months later when Changing Places was finished defacing our new house on the move in date, and we noticed the marble table was nowhere to be seen, we had to proactively inquire as to its whereabouts. After several looks of bewilderment, one of the demo crew responded "Oh, they didn't tell you about that? It broke". The way everyone in this ridiculous company referred to the incident, from the movers to the management staff, the table may as well have grown a pair of marble legs and lunged off the Ambassador Bridge, outside of their protective bosom. Twice a week, every week, for six-months, we requested that the pieces of that table be provided to us, so that we could see if it could be salvaged, in any way. Rather than accommodating our requests, the company offered us something like 60-cents a pound recompense. To this date, I have no idea how anyone could have broken a table so incredibly solid. Perhaps it's sitting comfortably in the manager's house, as the wonderful center piece it was. Several items were missing altogether, so saying they are unreliable may only be skirting the surface, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if profiteering may be more akin to some of the practices of Changing Places. After months of complaining, a manager came to our house and quickly poked around with a finger and shrugged, saying there was no way for him to confirm that any of the said items were missing. He offered us the number to a perpetually unanswered voicemail box that he referred to as their claims department. Nothing came out of it. When moving pieces of furniture, the Changing Places team casually impaled walls, tore holes in screen doors, scraped up hardwood floors, and they even managed to punch out a sizeable area in the ceiling of one of the stairwells in our new home. They're like the bulldozer in a China shop. The money we thought we saved by hiring this company was lost several times over in replacing the items they broke and in repairing the damage they did to our home. Based on my experience with them, I don't find Changing Places fit to move water within a lake. The only conceivable circumstances I would advise you to employ the services of Changing Places is if you're Salvador Dali and have the proclivity to relish the misshapen and fractured remains of cherished belongings, or if you want to move your ex out of your house on very hostile terms. Otherwise, go with a real moving company. Message me and I will gladly send you pictures of what Changing Places did to our house and our furniture/decoration pieces so that no one has to go through what we did.

Was told they would arrive at 8am, they arrived at 7:45am ready to work! I was slacking and running behind in getting everything ready for them, but they were patient and efficiently worked on other things while I finished up. We were moving about 45 miles and they disassembled and reassembled the beds for us. We were originally quoted for 6 hours of labor, but they moved very quickly and it only took 3 hours resulting in the price getting cut in half. They were amazing. I wish I could remember the names of the 3 gentlemen that helped because they deserve individual praise. They were all very friendly, had a great sense of humor, and worked very diligently. Not only have they won all our future business, but they have also won all our family and friend's future business as they will get the strongest recommendation from us.

The Moving company sent 6 guys and 2 trucks. We had the approx 2000 sq foot living space packed within 2.5 hours. We then went to another 1 bedroom 750 sq foot apartment and loaded it within 1 hours. We also went to a third location to pick up a piano which took 15 minutes. Then we journeyed to the new home and unloaded. The copany came to the main home and gave me an estimate based on my items, I then added the apartment over the phone. Their quote for time was dead on. Cost was reasonable and they were very kind and we all had alot of laughs. They worked with us moving stuff even after they put it down. I had a great experience with them and would recommend them to anyone moving in the future.
Response from Changing Places Moving & Services Inc
"Thanks for the endorsement! We'll share it with the Gentlemen Movers. Glad that everything went well, and that the crew helped with rearranging after the furniture was already placed. Its a common feature of moves that items are moved after the fact, as they just need a bit of tweaking to make them right in the rooms. Appreciate the share with the band of neighbors as well!"

We thought this would be a great company to work with.  The agent gave us a thorough estimate, and a careful explanation of the entire process.  The cost was about 30% more expensive than the next highest estimate, but because of the attention to detail we decided to use them, and we verbally requested the move.  This was about three and a half weeks before the date we wanted to move.  We expected to hear back with confirmation after a couple of days, but did not hear back for a week.  After calling four times over two days and finally asking to speak to manager, we then found out that their van line could not provide the dates we wanted.  We had already made work and business travel plans from our new location based on the original dates, and needed to find someone in a hurry who could meet them.
We should have called Changing Places back after we had not heard for 2-3 days, but we were pretty busy ourselves, and not in the habit of having to check up on businesses to make sure they are handling our requests.  Not hearing from them for over a week lost us a lot of options, because by then all the major companies were booked for the week we wanted.  We had to hustle to call four more companies, only two of which would even provide estimates for that time frame, before we found a company that could move us.
Based on other online reviews and our own conversations with Changing Places, we arere convinced they would have done a professional and careful job.  But we were left in a very bad position by the lack of communication, and that was added workload and stress on us, that we didn't need in the midst of trying to get moved.
Response from Changing Places Moving & Services Inc
"As with most local moving companies, Changing Places relies on an larger van line to accommodate moves out of the state of Michigan. Changing Place Moving works with Arpin Van Lines. In this instance, we were in contact with Arpin to attempt to get this relocation scheduled, with no confirmation. We do not enter into a contract for moving until we've got that confirmation. After review of the process and issue related to this move, Changing Places dropped the ball. It is our responsibility to stay in constant contact with our client. As stated in the review, we did not have immediate contact with the customer to alert them that the scheduling was not confirmed. In this case, when we found that we could not accommodate the move, we did recommend a few of our competitors. Our sincere apologies to the Wolfertz's."

Hands down one of the best experiences one could ask for during a somewhat challenging time in your life! These guys worked so well together! The group that moved us worked tirelessly and always with a smile! If I had it to do again I would have them pack up my whole house for less stress on myself...plus they did a much better job then the boxes I packed myself. Couldn't recommend them more highly!!

Everything went great and the final price came in a little under the quote. Mark who did our quote was prompt and professional and right on with what he thought we needed. Chris, Jay, Tim, Jimmy, and Shawn (the moving crew) were excellent. No one stopped moving for 7-8 hours. Everything was handled with care. They moved the correct items to storage and to the rental house. Nothing but good things to say. I will be using them when we buy our house and move again in the next few months. Thank you for making moving a little less stressful :)
