There was a dining room set that was moved into my house when I purchased it and had never moved since. They promised me it would be completely wrapped and moved without a scratch. But it was totally ruined by scratches. They also moved a TV and ruined the walls and the TV in doing so - the TV didn't even work. They also scratched several pieces of furniture and broke several pieces of glass.
After all this was done, they demanded their money. I refused to pay them, so the police were called. They couldn't settle it. They told me to file insurance. They wouldn't turn in my claim against their insurance. I plan to sue them if they won't resolve this.
"This is the third time [Member Name Removed] has not paid her moving company, talk about during research on customers. I did not see this coming. After 6.5 hours of hard work and going above and beyond for her, she claimed we damage a piece of furniture that was already scratched. Then she said I will not pay you until these scratches were fixed, she even went as far as to demand money for the repairs and then she would pay the bill at a later date. We moved 300 pieces of glass from her garage and one was chipped. We believe the old projection TV did not work before she ask us to take it to her basement at her new home. She was so rude to all us workers as well as her family, I had to step away from her to gather myself. I have never encountered a customer like this, and I hope I never do again. She may have gotten a free move again, but the universe has a way of evening things up. No law suit has been filed, How surprising."

I called the company back and spoke with the same person about changing the date to 5/5/2013. She really did not want to change the date because I guess, based on our conversation, she already had appointments scheduled, and made some statement about not wanting to run another truck on that morning. It was clear to me that she did not want to lose my business, so she recommended that the movers come later in the afternoon of 5/4/13 instead of the morning, and assured me that the movers would work around me and assist me to get things done. Aganist my better judgement, I agreed to keep the 5/4th date.
The movers did come around 5:00pm, and as I suspected... I and my neighbor were scrambling to complete the packing. They moved quickly, and were cordial but soon became a little miffed that they had to spend time waiting for us to complete some packaging. They made comments about how this would probably cost me double the money, because, after all, they still had to make a house stop. They commented about how quickly the move before me had been, those people had been packed and prepared. I felt a little rided, but I understood what they were saying.
It was clear to me that these guys had been led to believe they would have an early finish and I would be a short move; but, by the time we got to the storage unit, it was after 10:00PM. The storage facility had locked up the moving carts, and the movers only had one dolly on their truck. The movers were upset that the moving carts were not available, and the one mover made the comment that this place must not have security cameras if they have to lock up the moving carts. Fortunately, another guy from their company came out to help, and it was 3 movers unloading and storing boxes in the unit instead of two.
I gave specific instructions that certain items be left up front for easy access for me, but one of these guys, I could tell was sorta upset that this was taking as long as it did, and was just in a hurry to get my items into the unit. I had to ask them to retrieve one item from the back that I needed, and they had to move a couple of things back out to get to it, after that I watched closely to be sure what I needed up front stayed up front. Earlier (while I was holding elevator doors) an important item was stored so far in the back it would have been too much work to get to it.
It was after 12:00 AM before the movers completed. Much longer than any of us had hoped. I was stressed completedly out. I felt bad that the move took so long and these guys obviously had not anticipated such a late night because they said they had an early morning move so I tipped them generously.
In reflecting, I realize that putting the move off to the 5th instead of the 4th would have worked better for me, the customer. I feel the company should have been more empathic with my needs when I called her 2 days in advance and told her I needed the extra day. That extra day would have made all the difference, and it would have made a difference for the company too. The next day I received a call from the storage company, telling me the movers I used had been caught on security camera stealing from an open storage unit.
