+ 0 moreThey are a family owned business. We talked to the owner and they were trying to get the business off the ground. They didn't show up for the first application but we didn’t call anybody else and they showed up a week later. They gave us $400 off. They were just excellent. They did all the paperwork and everything. We didn't have to go pull permits or anything. They cleaned up everything. If they'd had a vacuum for the lawn, they would have done that too. They were very, very nice. It took them 4 days and that included getting permits. The pricing was really good and they worked with us. They even offered to take payments. We paid cash but not many companies offer that. We let them choose and pick up the gates and they are beautiful. They were included in the price. They were very professional but they didn't mind talking to us. They talked to me and answered my questions. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We used G R Fencing for a fence.

Description of Work: They came a day later than they said they would. They removed about 40 feet of chain link fencing. I asked them to dispose of the vines that grew intertwined in the fence and instead of taking the vines with them they left the vines out on the curb for the garbage men. The vines stayed there for over 2 weeks. They cut the metal fence posts close enough to the ground like i asked, but did a half a** job covering them up with dirt. On the good side they were cheap and they did the job quickly. Also we made an oral agreement that he would come 2 days later to put a latch on the gate(i did a bad job installing it myself). It's been 3 weeks and they never called back/showed up.

+ 0 moreGary decided to show up at 11am and did not offer an apology or explanation for his delay other than stating" we are kinda slow". He told me it would take a couple of hours. But, first he had to go to Home Depot for the paint for the posts. Once he finally started, he and his partner worked for about an hour. Then, he summoned me outside for a deposit and stated that he'd return in the morning to add a second coat of paint to the posts. He had only removed the old fencing and gate and placed them in my yard and he said he'd pick it up tomorrow. Well, so far, I've called him to determine when he'd arrive to complete the job and was told "in an hour or so..." My husband is extremely upset, because Gary mentioned the word "refurbished" when I questioned him about the style of gate we'd have installed. This implied that he was going to take our "old" rusty gate and paint it so it looks "new". At this point, I have called him to let him know that he is fired if we cannot resolve this issue asap. Of course, he did not answer the phone. I would never hire this company again and I strongly suggest against anyone hiring this company. Unless, you do not value timeliness, customer service, follow-up and honesty.
Description of Work: Gary came out for an estimate. He was nice and professional. He came up with ways to save us money, and advised against our original plan for a wrought iron fence and gate. We agreed to remove the old chain link fence, and save the posts, remove the bushes and install a new chain link fence with a gate, all to be painted black to give the look that we wanted. Gary was to call us that evening with the cost. He did not call. I initailly planned on hiring someone else after his lack of response. But, my husband suggested that I give him a call to here the price. I called and he gave me a reasonable price of $700. We scheduled to have the work done on a Monday. As Monday approached, I called to confirm. Gary said that he had another job to complete on Monday, but he would install my fence on Tuesday. I frantically ran around rescheduling appointments, so that I could be available at 9:30 am on Tuesday (today). Gary did not call. I logged on to Angie's list to make comments, but I decided to call him before commenting. He did not answer initially, but then called me back and stated that he would be out around 10:30am. I mentioned that I was considering leaving, because I hadn't heard from him and I thought he wasn't going to show up. He didn't apologize or anything and he mentioned that it would take 2-3 hrs. to complete the job. I'll provide an update once the job is completed, if it's completed.

+ -1 moreFirst I would like to say that a lot of fencing contractors say they will do your smaller job and even make an appt to come view and give you a quote. Then you never see or hear from them again. Not so with this company. I got an immediate response and he was very patient with us given the fact that not only was it a small job but we could not decide on the material we wanted to use! He offered up various options, we decided - he ordered the materials and BAM! our section of fencing was completed and looks great - even after a very nasty winter. We feel we got a great price and really love the job that was done.

+ -1 moreI called to request an estimate. Gary said he would come by on "Friday or Sunday". He never showed up and never called to explain. My job was a repair, and I even asked if he was truly interested in coming out (because he seemed not to be). He assured me he was and then never showed.

+ -1 moreI called for an estimate and Gary was out there the next evening (Saturday). He called me Monday with an estimate for a 5 foot gate, I called him back on Tuesday to change it to a 6-foot and he increased the estimate by only $30. He was to come out Thursday to remove and install, but the big rains had come by then so we moved it to the next week on Tuesday. They arrived at 2:00 PM, removed the old gate, dug out one fence pole, dug a new hole and replaced the pole, shortened the upper pole and the fence, reattached the fence to the gate post and tightened, and installed and balanced the new gate. Done and cleaned up by 3:00 PM. They were very good and professional - even on this small job!
Description of Work: Gary and his co-worker removed a old 30", falling apart, gate from our chain link fence and replaced it with a new 6-foot gate.

+ -1 moreMany companies wont bother with you or just dont show up for the appointment if you 'only' have a small job. This is not the case with Gary. He was very responsive and discussed our options for material in a clear manner. He then gave us a fair quote after answering all of my questions. He ordered the materialsand came to our home exactly when he said he would and did a very nice work. We would suggest him to a friend anytime. Great Job, very satisfied customers.
Description of Work: We had a very small job of about 11 feet including a section of fence and a gate with somewhat limited access in a side yard.

Description of Work: Gary built a small fenced-in area for our dog. We asked for a long, narrow run that allowed us to let the dog out from two different doors. He did just what we wanted.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. Gary was always easy to reach by phone. He understood our needs and discussed different options and prices. He always showed up when he said he would. He and another man did the work quickly and efficiently, cleaned up, and were nice to my elderly mother. The price was reasonable and was one of the lower of several estimates. The city inspector who came out to inspect and close out the permit said they did a very good job. My mother liked them and is very happy with the fence. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.
Description of Work: I don't live in the area and needed to arrange by phone and email to have my mother's fence replaced. The job was to tear down an existing fence and replace it with a 6-foot shadow box wooden fence, and get the permit from the city.

+ -1 moreI was not altogether happy with the demeanor of this contractor and because of it, decided to go with another instead. He came out and insisted that I had to have a double gate installed in my fence, and I really wanted a single door gate instead. Then he insisted that I had to do it on Tuesday following or he couldn t tell me the next time he could do it. I was very taken aback at this rashness and politely moved him on his way. I have since found another company to do exactly what I needed and on the scheduled time I could be out there to make sure it was done right. I cannot recommend this company and won t use them again.
Description of Work: This contractor came out to the house and gave me a verbal estimate on installing a double door gate in my fence. No further work was accepted nor done.

+ -1 moreHE CAME OVER TO GIVE A FREE ESTIMATE (WHICH WAS WELL UNDER OTHER QUOTES). THEY CALLED BACK WITH DATE OF THE JOB, CAME THAT DAY AND WAS DONE WITHIN QUOTED TIME.
Description of Work: MY 40 FOOT BACK FENCE WAS REPLACED. TWO NEW SUPPORT POSTS WERE PUT IN. THE BACK GATE WAS RAISED TO SWING BETTER. IT WAS PAINTED TO MATCH THE NEW FENCE.
