This company came highly recommend and their quote was the best of three I received. I signed the contract (no down payment) on April 14th and was told they had a large job and would likely not be able to get me on the schedule until early July and would call once they had an opening. By the end of July, it hadn't occurred to me I never heard from them. A lot can happen in life over 3 1/2 months! Then one day the last week of July, I pulled into my driveway after work and found all of the siding had been stripped off my garage. I assumed it was DG although no one actually called to schedule the installation. It would have been nice to be notified as I was supposed to host a family BBQ that weekend - which I immediately cancelled due to the state of my yard. I called and emailed DG - they responded first thing the next morning and apologized, explaining they had written down the wrong phone number on my contract, left a message on the voicemail of the wrong phone number, and decided to proceed with the work even though they never confirmed it with me. I understand accidents happen, but I cannot believe any contractor would think it's okay to come onto someone's property and begin a major project without discussing it with the homeowner. They hadn't communicated with me for over a quarter year. They could have sent me a letter or dropped one in my mailbox once they realized they had the wrong phone number. But apparently that was too much to ask. A city permit was also never pulled for the work. Who had the time to comply with that? For my trouble, the owner told me he would waive the labor costs for replacing some rotted wood on the garage, but the cost of the lumber would be $300 more than the original estimate. Wow. Ummm... thanks? In the end, the work was done properly and the siding looked good. But I did have to spend 90 minutes with my shop vac cleaning up debris and nails around the perimeter of my garage. When another company roofed my garage (2 layer tear off) six months earlier, I didn't have to clean-up anything... so I know it is possible for a contractor to properly clean-up the work area. I also didn't appreciate the fact that the bulbs in the flood lights on my house had been removed and not replaced. Strongly recommend finding a more professional company to handle your project!
