John and his crew did a fantastic job and were so pleasant and professional, it was a pleasure to work with them. John communicated with us daily and helped us with material selection and design ideas while watching our budget. We are very pleased with the completed project and will definitely contact John when we want any work done in the future.

John and his crew, Kyle and Ben, were professional, courteous, friendly and prompt. Kyle and Ben always greeted us with smiles on their faces, even when it was the occasional Saturday morning. John checked in with us either by phone call or text message at the end of each day of activity to explain what would happen next and when. And he was really patient answering our many questions. The major change to the bathroom was replacing the bathtub with a walk-in shower. The tile placement, especially on the walls, was the most challenging part, but John, Kyle and Ben took their time and as a result, the shower is beautiful. We will definitely hire John for future projects.

John was able to recover vintage tiles and surrounded mirror in bathroom so that it looks really fresh and recovery of vintage materials is really impressive. He also did a fine job removing stuck on wallpaper and his team did a great job plastering the bathroom. All fixtures were replaced including identifying new plumbing fixtures. Tub was re-glazed very well. Bathroom was a tough project and John was great. He communicated with us well and always followed up on questions.

We hired John based on the review of a close friend.  He remodeled our master bath.  We had just moved into the house and had never worked with a contractor.  In the process, we found fairly extensive water damage that had not been reported by the former owner.  John helped us work through the insurance process and provided everything the insurance company wanted.  He was extremely professional, did exactly what he had told us he would do (and then some) and answered all of our insane questions.  He even helped us with ideas to help cut costs.  We then hired him to oversee the installation of our gas fireplace.  And, have hired him for a third time to redo our other bathroom (more water damage).  We could not be happier with his work and professionalism.

If you can get this guy and his crew, grab them immediately.   He is someone who says what he will do, and does what he says.  He is courteous, professional and organized, as well as a great communicator.  It is hard to believe in this industry where people don't show up, never tell you when they will miss a day, etc. He is amazing.  He is honest and has integrity.

But that is not the important part.  He is a great craftsman, and his finish work is the best I have ever seen. It makes the rest of my house look subpar, because his standards are top notch.  Thanks Angie's list for putting me in touch with his company.  I have had a lot of work done in my house, but never

found someone who could deliver this quality in this way before.  It was an outstanding experience, AND IF I EVER NEED MORE WORK, HE IS THE FIRST PERSON I WILL CALL.

oodIt went very well
They were on time every day
They communicated extremely well. received calls everyday to tell us when they were going to get there and also to ask questions about the project
They communicated great ides on how to make the project better
They cleaned up everyday after they were done so My father did not have to sit in a mess
They worked with us on upgrades to the original scope of work. They did everything we asked and for a very reasonable cost
They were extremely friendly and willing to help out my father with the smallest of tasks
They removed all trash from the project when complete and cleaned up very well
Finally the work they did was wonderful
           The patch work
The paint - they even helped with picking out the color (which really saved time)
Replacing light fixtures and medicine cabinet went extremely well
Electrical upgrade was very convenient for us
cleanup and hauling trash away was fast and thorough.
I would hire them again in a minute or do a referral.

We had a frozen pipe burst during the winter. We had several contractors looked at the job, some of them, didn't even call back with a quote. The first contractor to come and turned in his quote was John. He was very professional and detail oriented, so I knew right away we were going to work with him. It took us a couple of weeks to get in the schedule, but I figured if he is doing a good job he must have a lot of work going on.
The job was done perfectly and our dining room and living room looks even better than it was! Every detail, the plaster, the paint, the floors, was done with care and precision. My husband says the difference between John and other contractors is that he really explains the details and make sure you understand what's going on step by step. John makes you part of the process. We even have a second job scheduled with him to do some concrete work outside. I will highly recommend JDA Contracting. Excellent quality service!

The short version: We are convinced that John/JDA Contracting is the best out there and will be recommending him to family,
friends, and unsuspecting strangers on the street. John and his team transformed our house in a way that far exceeded our expectations, while staying on time and on budget.

Extended version: We purchased a home that was in need of extensive work and friends of ours enthusiastically recommended JDA Contracting. These friends don?t recommend lightly so that alone was a big indicator, but we are compulsive researchers and spoke to and collected quotes from several others as well. John quickly responded to inquiries, his pricing was right in line with what we were looking for, and when we met him we could tell he was trustworthy. But what really clinched it was when, just after our initial meeting at the house, he gave us a call to pass along an insight he?d had on an unrelated home project we?d mentioned ? one that my husband was going to do himself. John had no vested interest in that, but had clearly been thinking it over and wanted to share a couple of ideas that he thought might help us. We realized this was a guy who was not only experienced and well versed in building codes, but someone who was very INTO what he does, which seems to translate to quality work.

Shortly after we signed with John, he and his team were off and running. They painted our whole interior - each and every paintable surface. There was a great deal of prep work necessary. We had multiple rooms that started out with outdated faux finishes, moldings that needed to go, old paint treatments that left ridges, etc. It was hard to imagine that some of the walls could be salvaged, but these guys had them looking like brand new surfaces within just days. The entire operation was incredibly well orchestrated. There might be one or two painters working on prep and/or cutting in, another spraying doors, another doing detail work on window frames (as in, literally hand painting all the inner crevices with a small brush). John was mindful in scheduling to make sure the painters wouldn?t be in anyone?s way and also prioritized the work to ensure that when we needed to move in the most essential living spaces would be complete. Everyone we dealt with through JDA was friendly, considerate, and hard working so we never minded a bit having them around. John also managed the installation and finishing of hardwood floors throughout much of the house, again successfully juggling paint and floor finishing schedules. Then, in case he was getting bored, we threw a couple more projects his way ? installation of new bannisters and a handrail, both of which turned out beautiful. ( By that time we knew we didn?t need to bother calling anyone else for other work we needed done. )

At some point during the painting process my husband and I were marveling at how perfect the walls were turning out and
commenting on how quality oriented John was ? often going above and beyond what we required simply because he knew it would look better (and staying true to his original cost estimate throughout). We finally put a finger on what distinguished his work ? he treated this
like it was his own house. I don't think you can ask for anything more than that.

John is a professional contractor with a quality mindset.  A detailed quote was provided with overview of the scope of work, details of use of subcontractors, and itemized list of every task to be completed.  The older house presented many challenges that were agreed as unknowns, and changes agreed were always followed with a written update to the initial quote for final approval.  The payment schedule made it very clear when it was time to give a payment based on seeing the completed tasks.
Tearing out openings in walls to replace plumbing made huge messes, which were controlled with extensive plastic sheeting, and followed by daily cleanup to keep the house livable.  Each subcontractor was very aware of John's expectations for cleaning up at the end of the day.  The schedule did not proceed as quickly as assumed, although any days impacted were clearly communicated.  John typically gave a start time and tasks for each day to ensure we were never having surprises, and anyone wanting to work late would confirm it was ok with us.
The new workshop and bathroom look fantastic.

John from JDA came out and took a look at what it was we needed for a suspended ceiling in our basement and then submitted his quote.  We went out of town for a month, but John still kept in contact with us saying he was willing to take on the project.  When we returned from vacation, we called John, he came over and we signed the contract and he started our project in less then a week.  Nick, his worker came in on Saturday at 7:00 am and worked until almost 6:00 pm.  He got the framework up on the first day and installed the ceiling tiles on Sunday.  He worked tirelessly and the way he finished out the glass block windows and the ducting in the basement looks amazing.  The project was completed in two days.  The basement looks wonderful!.  I told John that we would be remodeling our kitchen in about six months and I will definitely call on him again.  Very reasonably priced, punctual and extremely hardworking and did a great job of cleaning up afterwards!

This is the second time I have had John Alexander do work for me.  He has high standards. His workmanship is meticulous and the finished product is very aesthetically pleasing.  He has an eye for color and design.  The bathroom in the basement he just finished was a total eyesore, depressing and cramped.  I doubted anything much could be done to transform it.  I could not be more pleased.  There are no longer any exposed copper pipes, nor drain pipe. The wires, etc. on the ceiling are now hidden under ceiling tile.  The colors are a soft peach and white.  It is now a pleasure to go into that room.  Everything he and his crew did is very attractive. John is an honrable man who puts his heart into his work.  He always goes that extra mile to make sure everything is as well done as possible.

Due to damage caused by a flood in my basement I needed to have the paneling removed to ensure there was no mold.  I have COPD.
John Alexander was the third contractor who came to give me a price for the needed work.  His price and manner sold me
immediately.  I had thought more paneling would be nice, but John encouraged me to go with drywall, for which I have no
regrets.  It looks beautiful.
I was greatly impressed with the care he took with every aspect of the job.  He is a true craftsman with an eye for the
aesthetics of everything.  His associates proved to be quite able as well
.I found John to be a very kind and considerate man who goes the extra mile.  He listened to all my concerns, letting me know exactly what he was planning to do and asking me to look things over as the job progressed.  He had concern for every detail.
I think one of my angels must have sent him, and I would recommend him to anyone.
