MLC WINDOW CO

This was one of the worst contractor-related experiences we've had. First, the person handling our contract was very difficult to reach and frequently unresponsive. Additionally, when he went through our home together to bid the job we had discussed a series of concerns, most of which never were addressed when the crew actually came to do the job (i.e. weather stripping hanging down from one of the doorwalls, discussion on replacement of all stripping, but then stating a month later when coming to do the job that we never discussed it....????) Finally, the people sent from the company to perform the job showed 3 hours late; we were told it was a one-day job. It took these guys (two were sent) an entire day to put in two windows, one of which was completely off in its measurement and didn't close. The other had very sloppy woodwork on the outside which completely mismatched the existing woodwork, was cut short, and caulk (not wood putty) slopped over holes. In attempting to remove one glass they broke the glass, left it along with a razor blade by this first-floor window, and all of their wood scraps/trash. With young children in the house this is extremely dangerous. Workers sat in truck for at least an hour; didn't seem to know what they were at our home to do. Smoked entire time, left half-finished cigarette butts all over property. Never tended to all work scheduled to be done other than two windows. Put other contractors on hold. Very unprofessional, messy, a lot of promises by "Mike" with no follow-through. **When we insisted that Mike come to home to see what had been done that day he did acknowledge that he had used parts on our house meant for another job, which is why some things were so off in fitting. Bear in mind that this is a special order for several thousand dollars, 3 weeks in advance payment. Would use extreme caution in ever considering this company, even if recommended by another contractor. This company does a lot of "new builds" where they can install their prefabbed windows. Any sort of repair work that we've seen is the most unprofessional, sloppy work we've seen.
