After shopping around getting quotes and design plans from contractors in our area, we chose Kurtis Kitchen and Bath. Their prices were competitive but we got a great vibe when we talked with Hala at the Utica location who came to our home and discussed remodeling ideas. She designed two or three plans for us, talking about the pluses and minuses of each plan and thought of ideas we hadn't considered. Once we chose our plan, she was knowledgeable in helping us choose all our granite, tile, hardware and cabinets. She was very helpful and the entire process and was low pressure and professional. We loved her "go with the flow" attitude, a joy to work with. Kurtis should be proud to have her as the face of their business. Once the job got started we met our Project Manager Dave Curtis, a stand-up guy and a straight shooter which we loved. Dave hit it off with us immediately, taking charge and planning out the entire remodel from initial demo to the very last piece of scribe molding. We always felt everything was taken care of, a great feeling during a stressful time. Dave was very personable who responded quickly to texts and phone calls and was always on top of the job making several visits to our home. Life happens, things get damaged, or back ordered but it never was an issue, everything was always handled in a timely fashion. If we every had questions or concerns, they were addressed without haste. I always felt like he was always working to keep the project moving along no matter what. During our demo, several unforeseen obstacles such as plumbing, wires, duct work and an inadequate header presented themselves. Dave had it handled immediately with fair change order prices, we never felt nickel and dimed. He had folks scheduled immediately to take care of the issues. During the entire construction process, the workers were professional, courteous and respected the fact they were in someone else's home. Even during the messiest stages, they took extra care to minimize dust and clean up after. All the cabinets and drywall work was top quality, we couldn't have asked for better. We LOVE our new kitchen and can't thank Hala and Dave at Kurtis Kitchen and Bath enough for the outstanding work. You guys are rock stars, thanks!

I worked with Justin. They had a nice design. They gave me a great cabinet design that gave me extra space in my kitchen. It took a little while longer, because of an issues with the cabinetry.  But they took care of it without any hassles and extra charges. They take the old stuff out and give it to Habitat for Humanity. I also like that they give me a daily schedule of what is going on for the day, so that you have a nice schedule all set up. Its nice that everything was planned.

Be sure you read over the entire order, from door handles to sink types. There were several mistypes--including that we were doing our own measuring--which we were not. The great installer manager came to measure clearance for drawer handles and made a few changes to floor plans.

We ordered sheet flooring which is cushioned and not cold on the feet. We ordered a different color--a deeper brown/green, for the foyer, and a sort of beige/white for the kitchen. It all looks like ceramic tile. The floor installer even matched up the and quot;tileand quot; lines from the foyer to the dining room.
Do not let the workmen set anything on top of any appliances you have. The excess weight can damage it or dent it (dryer had to be bumped out on top a little. If they move your dryer (first floor laundry), be sure the vent to the outside is properly connected afterward. Ours was ripped. Be around when the demolition is going on to see what they are doing. The workmen were honest and pleasant. I was really impressed with the last electrician, who gathered up loose wiring and tacked it neatly to the inside of the cabinets. The prior worker had left them in bunches, loosely on the top shelf, probably waiting for the finish person to come, which he did.
Overall, this company did a beautiful job. Remember that you can ask for specific kinds of sinks (we wanted china sinks for the bath and half-bath) and flooring, and appliances (we kept our appliances). They were willing to use an outside supplier for the stone back splash, but we were very happy with their own supplier.

We purchased several new kitchen cabinets from Curtis in March 2008. We were talked into upgrading to a cabinet with glass doors. We also purchased an upgrade to a "finished inside" for this cabinet. When the cabinets arrived, the there was no glass in the "glass doors" and the inside of the cabinet was not finished. When I called the salesman he told me that the glass doors do not actually come with glass in them. I had to go to a glass company and order the glass. It took one week and cost $105. When I asked him why the cabinet was not finished inside he told me that there was a piece of laminate included with the shipment so I could line the inside of the cabinet myself. I thought this was very misleading. The next issue...While I was installing the handles on the pull drawers, I damaged the face of a 5" x 12" drawer. The face was easy to remove. It was not a custom cabinet so I called and asked the salesman for information on purchasing a new drawer face. He gave me a price of $100 for the new face. I paid only $185 for the entire 3 drawer cabinet. It made no sense to me to pay over half of the cabinet price for a drawer face so I did my best to repair it. I will never buy from them again nor would I ever recommend them to anyone.
