The person who came to give me the estimate was real good at promising that everything would be great . I did tell him that there had been some reviews that were not so good about the contractors home depot hires and he said that , not to worry , he would make sure that would not happen to me. Home depot's head office in Atlanta handles the details and there is no communication between them and the local home Depot that came to my house to give me an estimate. The Atlanta office told me that the job would take 2 days and when I spoke to the saleman, he laughed and said that it would take 2 weeks! The day that the contractor was to arrive, I took leave from work. I get a call at 8.30 am , 1/2 hour after they were supposed to arrive, that they were delayed on their previous job and would not be able to come on that day, but would be in the next day. When they did come, they were messy,. I found Pop cans lying in my grass, cigarette butts all over the place. I had to tell them to clean up after themselves! They removed the siding, but did not cover one area with a waterproof covering. it rained and hailed that evening. Water entered my house and flooded my 1st floor. When I called the home depot saleman, I was told, it is a Sunday, what do you want me to do? I eventually got in touch with the subcontractor and told him he had to send someone to patch up the opening as the rain was continuously pouring into the house ! Someone came at 9 pm to patch it up. The damage inside was extensive! The contractor and subcontractor kept on telling me it was an accident! This was not an accident. it was negligence on their part! The contractor promised me 2 pairs of free shutters, ( which I had already agreed to pay for it before) as he felt bad for what happened. The siding job was completed. But I never got the shutters. I called the contractor, wrote emails to the salesman, got no reply. The sub contractor said that was not his job, he would only install the shutters, and I had to contact the contractor for the shutters. Eventually I called the Atlanta office, and was told they did not know about any of my problems. They said that I would get a call back from a manager within 24 hrs. Never heard from anyone. Home Depot does not care. I told them to take their extra materials off my driveway. It was sitting there for 3 months! I also told them that I did not want their free shutters any more. I was very upset with them and would never hire them again! It took 3 months to get my interior back to what it was before the flooding!
