Then while tearing out old door, installer told us the wrong door frame or piece was ordered....person who measured, measured wrong....had to put old door back on and was told they will rush new piece. I had to call store several days later...no follow up, and no apology for their mistake. Once in properly it looks great, but now I have to paint a brand new door. Door quality great, installer great, but very disappointed with the above. I didn't expect any special treatment, but this was a family friends company....I expected better. But then our salesman said they don't pay attention to Angie's List reviews anyway....apparently they are too big to need it.
The installation and some of the hardware was unacceptable right from the first day of the install. The door was installed crooked due to sloppy workmanship with total disregard to factory standards. Gallery of Doors lead installation manager (Joe) was very uncooperative and unwilling to acknowledge the defects. I solicited help to resolve the many installation problems with the manufacturer, Therma Tru, who totaly refused to get involved, as well as the local distributor, Seal Rite, who got involved only to the extent of admitting that the installation was faulty. After many visits to the Gallery of Doors, phone calls, letters to the Better Business Bureau, witholding payment by Master Card, and pleading to the distributor as well as a year and a half later Gallery of Doors finally did a proper installation of my door.
The bottom line is that they knew how to do it right but were trying to cut corners on the cost to maximise their profit. The owner of this business was totally unresponsive and never did contact me directly about the problem or attempt to resolve the issues. I would never do business with Gallery of Doors again and feel their business culture is very negative and their customer satifaction percentage must be very low.Licensing
