Landscaping Design and Installation

I called her and made the appointment, for June 10th. I set time aside from my schedule to be at the appointment. Then she then called me and told me that the other 2 appointments for that day cancelled, so she did not want to come. Then we made the 2nd appointment for June 11th. So again I re-arranged my schedule to accommodate hers. She did show up, we walked around the Snows Nursery yard, we talked about what I had in my yard, she made comments about my yard too. Told me what would work and what wouldn't. I told her I wanted this work to be done soon, even though it was not a big job. She told me that was not a problem. She did indicate that there was illiness in the family that was an ongoing problem; and in the end created some problems with canceling appointments. She told me that she would draw up a plan and we would meet up at Snows Nursery again to go over what we were going to get for the landscaping design. She then told me that she could not make an appointment until June 26th, at Snow Nursery, so we made the appointment for then. Then again, due to the family illness, she called to cancel that appointment. Finally on July 1st at 10:00 , we met at Snows Nursery. She had a small drawing drawn up. We walked around the nursery and she showed me what she thought would work well with my yard. I told her what I liked and what I didn't. She looked at some plants that she wanted to use, that I also liked. She told me that some of these were priced high at Snows Nursery and she told me that she would check some other places that she knew up with lower prices. She then told me that she would get back to me and would do another drawing. She also mentioned that all of these plants there would be a 1 year warranty on them too. She told me that after I paid my deposit of $500.00 I would get this warranty in writing. She then told me that she would be there when they were planting everything. I was a little confused, because she never told me who they were. I never saw her again and I never got anything in writing. She did ask me for a check for $500.00 and wanted the check made out to M and J Contracting. I told her that I thought she did this landscaping design and instillation work, and she said that this company does the planting of everything for her. During this time I called her serveral times and did not hear back from her. I then called Snows Nursery and told Andi (the one who gave me Marshia's business card) the issues I was having with her. I told her that we are getting late into the season and then Andi gave me the information to M and J Contracting. I called them and left a message. I then called Marshia and told her that I needed to leave the state soon and she said that she would call M and J Contracting to get this done right away. Well, they then they showed up, with no phone call, and he didnt know what he was going to do, because she never gave him any of that information. I had to stop what I was doing to then go out there and work with them and tell them what to do since Marshia had not given him antyhing. After that M and J Contracting just picks up and leaves and didn't tell me when he would be back. I had to call Marshia back again and asked her when this was going to be finished. She told me that this was going to be done soon and then reiterated that there was an illness in the family. I wished that she would have just told me upfront that she was too busy dealing with a family illness and that she could not do business at the time. Also when I would try to contact her she always came off that she was irritated with me. So, half of the plants that M and J Contracting showed up with did not match up with that Marshia and I talked about. At the time too, we decided that this job was going to be under $3000.00 and we both agreed to that. Well since I never saw her again and I just stopped calling her, and as far as I was concerned, she lied to me. M and J Contracting had the original drawing of what she sent, but the plants that he brought did not match the drawing. Also, I told her specifically I did not want to block the window of my front yard and now there is something blocking my window. M and J Contracting had to keep running back and forth to get other things, because what she had given him was not what we talked about. M and J Contracting even tried calling her about the troubles that we were having and she would not pick up his phone calls either. I wound out that the $500.00 fee that I paid M and J Contracting was the payment that he paid her for the job. With being the client, I was not happy with the work and I think that he should have not paid her until I was satisfied with the job. During the job too, there was suppose to be a tree planted that wasn't even planted. The main tree was not in his supplies that he brought either and he told me that that tree was not even in the pricing and he had to go get another one. Mind you, this job was suppose to be under $3000.00 and I ended up having to spend $3640.50. That made me very angry, because I still have no warranty for the plants, when I was told that I would. Now I have 2 plants that have now died. I have tried calling M and J Contracting and we have been playing phone tag ever since. I am frustrated, because Marisha did not do her job and she was not professional. Also, when she showed me the first drawing, she told me that this job would be done in 2 weeks. This was not finished until 7/28/2013, about a month later. When M and J Contracting had the original drawing, he told me that most of the time customers sign and date the picture and I pointed out that my name was not on there, because she never came back.
