Marble and Granite Service
Provider quoted the job at 2-3 weeks. There were a number of things that the provider did not do that were promised:
1. Tarp off the bathroom so that dust would not get into the rest of the house.
2. Dumped tile dust and some offcuts into the snowbanks (work was done in Jan/Feb - the spring showed every place where they treated our yard like a garbage can).
3. Did not communicate on the progress of the job or why the job was delayed. (It took 8 weeks to complete the job, and only because we had him work on Saturdays and Sundays to get the work done.)
So, while I have a nice bathroom there are several things that I dislike:
1. Damaged the plumbing on the bathtub. It's useable, but not perfect like it was prior to them touching it. They came back and attempted to fix it - again, unsatisfactory results. I will probably end up hiring a plumber to fix it once and for all.
2. The dust in my garage and throughout my home.
3. The garbage left in various places around my garage because they thought the snowbanks were a garbage can?
4. Blew a breaker constantly in garage. Came home one day to find the sump pump breaker thrown and the sump pump alarm going off. The panel box was located in the garage, and they could have flipped the breaker, but did not.
5. I had to point out bad grouting and uneven tile - this isn't being nit picky - this was a grouting job that looked like a five year old did it. The uneven tile was so bad when I saw it I just cried - I think we were in about week 6 of this 2-3 week job by then.
The owner offered to do another tile job for us for cost of materials only to "make up" for this debacle. Unfortunately, I will never allow this person back in my home. It was a horrible experience overall.
The end product - after all of the above is about B+ workmanship. There are irritating little things that still bother me: my bathtub plumbing ruined. The uneven tile was ground down and just looks not right. Where the ceiling and tile meet it's pretty bad - but again, we'll have another contractor in to fix that as well. We could have made the provider fix it, but got sick of his excuses and just wanted him out of our house.
