Computer Sales, Computer Repair
Delightful. I'm a middle-aged woman but have a master's in information science. I've gotten so used to men in IT talking to me like I'm an idiot that I approach all interactions with men in IT with gritted teeth and the expectation that I'll have to s*** some jargon so they know *I* know what a NIC is, or drivers, or whathaveyou.
I got a
Scott welcomed me to the store, LISTENED to my story and my wishes, and walked through possibilities with me. He pointed out that something I wanted to do (I forget now) wouldn't work, and explained why in a clear, judgement-free way. I listened to him speak to others while I was waiting and was impressed with his communication skills. He could speak Geek, and he could reassure an elderly man that he could diagnose the problem with his PC quickly.
Scott did a quick WRITTEN estimate of what the work would cost, did quick lookups to be sure my equipment would work, and to see what options in the equipment available were so I could choose then and there. He also suggested adding a solid state drive to my PC and explained its benefits (I retired 4 years ago, before solid state drives were common).
His prices were exceedingly fair. CTG staff got the equipment, assembled it, installed the Windows 8 software ($100) and drivers and it has worked beautifully since. The charge to custom design and assemble a PC for my needs, reusing what made sense? $100.
They have good warrantees, and Scott explained the manufacturer's warranties for everything I bought. And they said they'd do it in a week and had it ready earlier than they promised!
I got:
Intel i5-4440 CPU running at .310 Ghz
16Gb RAM ( 2 Corsair DDR3-1333)
Wireless Ethernet card (TP-Link TL-WDN3800 N600)
Toshiba 128 Gb SSD (solid state hard drive)
z87 Extreme ASROCK 1150 motherboard
80+ Bronze 530 watter power supply unit Rosewill
2 cooler fans
6 USB 3.0 ports
Windows 8
12 month warranty
Price: $900
I recommend them without reservation.
