Troy Video Transfers

Troy video is a joke! I try to go local as much as I can and I knew going into Troy Video that I would be paying more for the same service that Costco can do for a cheaper price. I was absolutely okay with paying more for a couple of reasons, one being that the videos would not have to be sent out anywhere which made me more comfortable with leaving my one and only video tapes of my father. When I dropped off my videos the guys seemed as if he knew what I wanted and assured me that I would be able to watch my new DVD's from any computer or DVD player. HOWEVER this was not the case! Once the transfer was complete none of the DVDs would play in a DVD player including the portable DVD player I purchased to bring to the hospital to show my dad once they were complete. After paying over 400$ I assumed taking the videos back to be fixed would not be an issue, after all, that is usually another benefit to shopping local... to deal directly with the owner and get your problem solved. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN! The 7 foot freak who owns the place laughed at me when I said it would not work in a dvd player nor my laptop. He was not willing to even watch me put it in the portable DVD player saying that it MUST be a problem with the equipment on my end. At this point I had no choice but to go to Costco to get the same service done all over again only this time I was charged 130$ and the job was done right.
TROY VIDEO WAS SOOOOOOOO RUDE AND UNCARING! THERE are several locals that have had the same experiences and my hope is that KARMA will do what it does best! 

Terrible.  When I picked up my dvd, they showed me them on thier TV screen and it worked, so i was like great, this is awesome.  Funny thing is, I could never get a single dvd, cd, computer to play the videos.  I mean i tried so many different types of software, computers, it was crazy.  I called troy video and they insist that it can work on any video or dvd player, and that they did not block it or restrict the access on it.  BULLCRAP! I went back in and spoke to a taller guy, who tried to make it sound as if I am dumb or something.  I mean i was floored.  Funny thing is, my fiance at the time took her dads video's thier to, same kind of thing she asked them to do and they said the same thing " sure, no problem" and we have the same problem.  We have the cd, looks like they work, in thier store it works but funny, no other computer will they work on.  Seriously, not kidding.  So they would not refund or admit that they have done anything wrong, and that is the worst part.  What costs me $225 at troy video, costs me $46 at Costco.  Guess what, costco worked the first time on all copmuters.  You think your helping out a local mom and pop shop, BUT DO NOT EVER USE THEM.  CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRRIBLE, NEVER GOT A PRODCUT THAT I COULD SAY TO MY BEST MAN, HERE YA GO, CHECK OUT OUR OLD FOOTBALLS GAMES. NOPE, NOTHING.  I GOT A $225 BILL, 6 VIDEOS RUBERBANDED TO MY VHS AND A COMPANY THAT HAS NO ACCOUNTABILITY.  WORST EVER.  I AM SO GLAD I JOINED ANGIES LIST TO WARN OFF OTHER PEOPLE.
