I purchased a new 7.4L crate engine for my boat from Michigan Motorz in May, 2010. After less than 1 hr. run time, the engine began to miss and sputter. I returned the engine and was told a rocker arm stud had pulled out of the head. Although I did not want a new engine repaired, I was persuaded to have the engine repaired and I picked it up in July, 2010. After approximately 1/2 hr. of run time, the engine began to knock badly and I again pulled the engine and returned it to Michigan Motorz. I spent the next 8 months arguing with Roger, the owner, about getting this motor replaced under warranty (1 year comes from GM and was stated in their ad). In April of 2011 they finally agreed to replace the engine and I picked it up in May. Following another install and an 11 mile ride down the Detroit River, the engine began to tick and knock. I checked the motor oil and found steel shavings in the oil pan as well as the rocker valley. I contacted Roger at Michigan Motorz and reported this problem. Roger angrily stated that he was done with this engine and would not do any more service. I informed him that since this was still a warranty issue, the problem was with General Motors and not him, although he again stated that he would not provide any further service to this engine. I subsequently had the engine torn down and found that three of the crank shaft bearings were so tight, they were seizing. I also had the serial numbers on the engine block checked with the numbers on my original bill of sale and discovered that the motor never was replaced and had only been repaired. I would absolutely stay clear of this company...they do not back what they sell and are a nightmare to deal with. They are dishonest and do not represent their brands well at all.
