Garage Doors
You buy it from them and then they subcontractor the installation. they screwed up some things. I bought a new garage door and they delivered it instead of the company. It was supposed to be delivered form the company that made it but Home Depot screwed and delivered it dented all up. What they told me was they didn’t take the old new garage away. They just ordered another one so I got stuck with two garage doors. On that was brand new but with dented and couldn’t be use and they just trough it in the trash and that bothers me. It was very inconvenient to me. I would never go back to them for something like that again. I probably would not subcontract with them again and I am dissatisfied.

Appliance Sale
.Overall, we were pleased with Home Depot's sales and service. The in-store sales staff was fairly knowledgeable, very low-key (i.e., no pressure), and genuinely helpful. We shopped at the store with no special preconceived ideas re: washer and dryer brands or models, and they helped us sort through the many options available, even suggesting that we hold off purchasing until we took the opportunity to conduct some additional research via Consumer Reports. Everyone we dealt with at the store was very accommodating, resulting in a pleasant shopping experience that felt like we were being treated honestly.
We did encounter a few minor issues during our sales and installation process, which would have been desirable to have avoided. These were as follows:
1) The sales staff did not inform us of the fact that the door on our initially-ordered front-loader washing machine was hinged on the left side and could not be modified to hinge on the right side. As a result, because we needed to position the washer on the right of the dryer, it would have been awkward to remove the clothes from the washer and place them in the dryer, due to the open washer door being between the two units. Once we discovered this (from our own research), we ended up changing our washer unit order to a top-loader. A more knowledgeable sales staff should have cautioned us about this issue, in my opinion.
2) Upon delivery of our units, the Home Depot delivery contractors informed us that they could not connect up the dryer's electrical cord due to a mismatch with our 220 volt wall receptacle. As result, we had to hire an electrician to install a newer-design receptacle that was compatible with the dryer's plug design. While this issue was prompted by our own receptacle, it would have been helpful to have been made aware of the possibility of such a compatibility problem by the store sales staff at time of purchase, so that we could have addressed it in advance of the products' delivery. During a subsequent store visit, when speaking to the appliance department's manager, he was aware of these types of issues, which tells me that there was some product knowledge variation across the sales staff.
3) Another minor issue encountered during the delivery and setup process involved the water inlet and outlet hoses for the washer. Although the in-store sales staff recommended upgrading these hoses to stainless steel pieces (which seemed logical, as we had similar hoses on our old washer), the delivery personnel said that they would only connect the washer using the rubber hoses supplied by LG, since anything else voided any guarantee against leakage, per LG. As a result, we ended up returning the stainless steel hoses for a refund, necessitating another trip back to the store. Again, had the sales staff been aware of this issue, they should not have sold us the stainless steel hoses in the first place.
All of the above issues were relatively minor, and none of them would prevent us from recommending this Home Depot's appliance sales department.

Worst experience ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the quoting process HomeDepot sent out a person to my house to measure and prepare the quote. We pointed out the height difference between the hardwood floor and the carpet area in the living room. The gentlemen told us that this will be shimmed during installation to create a nice fit. The HomeDepot employee was very thorough and spent over 4 hrs in my house measuring and evaluating the install. I felt very comfortable at that time. I had other vendors that spend only 1 hr.
I received a competitive quote and decided to go with home depot.
6 weeks later at the installation date the crew showed up about 1 hr late, which was really no problem. Immediately they told me that they are not able to shim the height difference to have a nice transition between the hardwood floor and the carpet. They do not have the material, equipment or skills to do it. Naturally I did not like that answer. After various phone calls and involving HomeDepot Manager I was told that either I accept to have the carpet installed with a 3/4and quot; step to the hardwood or they would pull the installer. Since I was planning to move into the house 2 days after carpet install (I sold my current house), I had not option than to have the carpet installed that way. This is called blackmail in my world. Now I have to look at this step for the next 10 years and be reminded of the service HomeDepot provides. Naturally they lost a customer.
Also they left the entire garbage sitting in my driveway. Not what I expected, but it does not surprise me at all.
The roofing project I have quoted with them will not go to HomeDepot.

I like the timeline that I stay in and spend speaking to them. It's been a good experience and also very timely.

Carpet Installation
We ordered carpeting for one bedroom. We had the measurements when we went into the store, but they insisted they send out their own company to measure the area. That took a week to schedule. Then it took three weeks for them to order the carpet and another week to schedule the installation. The whole ordeal took over a month to carpet a single bedroom! The outcome was fine, but the process took entirely too long. I will never use them again.

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Ceramic Tile Service + 1 more
Had to use Home Depot @ Troy instead of local Madison Heights store due to lack of attention from in-store sales reps. Once bought, Home Depot use a 3rd party for measure/install. Measure guy was *really* knowledgeable and helped us make some better decisions, especially about getting slightly taller-than-usual backsplash to cover up wall damage (from tear out of existing backsplash) and good advice on sink. There was a mistake with install date but phone call to Home Depot to escalate issue had issue resolved. Installer was out there next day (Tuesday) and offered a $250 inconvenience rebate through Home Depot. Turns out there was a legitimate issue at installer but they and Home Depot made it right with money back, so while they don't get an "A" for faultless delivery, it's certainly a B+ for making things right quickly and in customer favor.

Ceramic Tile Service
We were satisfied with Home Depot on this purchase. I used them for many things. They offer good personal service and they usually carry the things I need. They were helpful with suggestions and showed us several different choices in the tile. I don't remember the price, but it was very fair.

I LIKED THE SIMPLICITY OF SELECTING THE FIXTURE AT A STORE AND HAVING THEM INSTALL IT. I FEEL THAT THE COST WAS REASONABLE AND THE SERVICE WAS DEPENDABLE. THEY FIT ME INTO THEIR SCHEDULE RIGHT AWAY.
