"Dan Brady Painting and Wood Restoration strives to provide the highest level of customer service. Because [member name removed] was dissatisfied with the service we reduced her bill by $1,100. I am surprised to read this review two years after the project was completed and I thought we had resolved her issues with the project. Let me specifically address her complaints about the quality of the work: • The caulk pulling away from the windows: The windows of this home had never been caulked before my crew worked here. Our understanding is that it was also over a decade since the house was cleaned and stained. We caulked the windows with a caulk made specifically for log homes because log homes experience more expansion and contraction than typical site-built homes because of the way they’re built. Caulking is an ongoing maintenance issue for any home, especially in our Northern climate. This year’s harsh winter would have caused greater than usual contraction, which is the likely cause of the caulk pulling away from the windows. How much a house contracts during the winter is not something that I – or any other painter – can control. • Dark tree sap under the stain: Because the deck had not been cleaned or stained for many years the long term tree sap stains were impossible to remove completely. We encourage readers of [member name removed]’s review and our response to judge for themselves. • The color of the stain: The deck was stained with the product [member name removed] picked out. Often stains do look different when applied than they do on the color chips. That’s influenced by a number of factors including the type of wood used to build the deck, the age of the wood and how long it’s been since the deck was last stained. The longer a deck has weathered the more stain it will absorb and the darker the stain will appear. At Dan Brady Painting and Wood Restoration we use a report card system to allow each client the chance to provide valuable feedback on the quality of our work.
