My elderly mother hired Rhino Tree Services to trim some branches from a very large tree above her garage. After finishing the job my mother went out to look at the tree and thought it looked fine and paid the worker She did not have enough cash so she paid the remainder of the bill with a check made out to Ed Kind, the owner of Rhino Tree Services. A few days later, it began to rain and my mom noticed a puddle of water in her garage. Looking up, she discovered a hole in her garage roof! She called the man who did the job and he proceeded to tell her to climb on top of the garage roof and place a tarp to prevent the rain from coming in and he would get back to her. Seriously? My mom is 73 years old and unable to climb up to her garage roof top. Well, phone call after phone call and surprise, no return call...
After much frustration, my sister and I get involved and call the owner of Rhino Tree Services, Ed Kind. After explaining the issue, we were told by Ed that his worker Chuck, is not affiliated with his company and works on his own. We found that interesting as the balance of the money owed was paid by check made out to ...Ed Kind! He angrily said he would not be coming to inspect the damage to my mom's roof because it wasn't his responsibility! After mentioning that my mom referred his company to a friend (upcoming job worth $2000 and she would call them to cancel the job) he laughed and said "do you think that will hurt me? That is a small job for us and won't affect us at all...." And...'Go ahead and sue me, you'll never find me!"
Needless to say, my mother was taken advantage of by Rhino Tree Services. She not only paid far too much ($750) to have tree branches trimmed, but also had damage to her garage roof after the job was completed. Ed Kind, owner of Rhino Tree Services, was rude and unprofessional and claimed he would not help fix this problem...as it 'wasn't his problem!'
I would tell ANYONE out there to avoid hiring Rhino Tree Services!
