I have been unable to successfully engage more than 1 of the "Pros" on Angi for large and varying construction and remodel projects. In fact I have had only one contact me and he REFUSED to accommodate me during initial contact. I have retained the texts that I did receive from him before he shut me out. I explained very clearly that I had special needs that I needed an accommodation for a few initial contacts. Those would be being our conversation through text or email as I could not immediately use a phone. Any common person would look at my request and see that there was something behind the initial contact limitations. He then acted as if I wouldn't be willing to meet in person so he could see the job site to which I stated that an in person contact wouldn't be an issue, just using a phone. Apparently the contractor had more than enough work because from that point on he ghosted me. I attempted to reinitiate contact for almost a month but was never replied to. Not that I should have to ever explain the reason why I needed a short-term accommodation, nor should anyone in a similar situation as I, for contact either through text, email or in person, but suffice to say I have some personal limitations and this experience has left me with the impression that he is intolerant of special needs (aka disabilities). I want others to be aware of this contractor.

We had a great experience working with Beman Builders. Joe,s professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were top notch. Best contractor I have ever worked with, and a genuinely good guy. Looking forward to working with Joe again, and I highly recommend him to anyone doing any projects in the Traverse city area.

Joe Beman has executed flawlessly and timely my bespoke garage design submitting constructive ideas and solutions during the build process. Project was challenging, but Joe demonstrated ingenuity and persistence. Joe is very meticulous and detail oriented. His siding work is astonishing. Honest, pleasant and easy to work with. Definitely, will hire Joe again and recommend to others.

Joe is FANTASTIC to work with. He’s so professional, always on time, very communicative about the projects, and is absolutely trustworthy. He is a man of his word and is just a nice guy. We would highly recommend him.

We have been using Beman Builders and Joe Beman for a number of years now and a number of projects from a remodel of a Victorian home with 4 bathrooms and a monster kitchen. Recently, Joe built an Art Studio for my wife. Joe is the best builder in this area because he pays attention to detail. He will submit and bid and stick to it rather than nickel and dime you like a lot of contractors in this area. He is courteous and a nice guy. He works quickly and the job site is ALWAYS cleaned up every evening before Joe leaves. Any attempt to hire another contractor other than Joe would just be a waste of money and time.

Laminate flooring damaged by joe’s helper requiring new product being purchased and installed at my cost, does not match the new floor. Joe could not install the transitions on laminate so I hired a flooring company to apply these. Joe refused to install the trim around cabinets. Joe installed the subway backsplash, refused to apply a sealant over the grout. Grout is cracking. Joe made the laminate counter tops, corners are chipped. Joe measured for counter tops and backsplash and okayed the plans for the kitchen cabinet measurements. The laminate and subway tile purchased were way more than what was needed and costly to me.

Very well. Joe and a co-worker got right to work and finished everything within the given two hours. The work was creative and of quality. I will definitely call Joe if I need more help.

We are very happy with the work that was done. Joe and his employee were very professional and friendly. They worked efficiently and left the areas very clean.

Just couldn't get in touch with him. He came over to look, then Never got back with a price quote or a time he would be free to schedule the work. I knew he was busy, but I deserved a call back if he couldn't do it. He may be a great builder/remodeler but I wouldn't know. ****Maybe the problem is with using Angie's List to communicate instead of direct contact??

Joe Beman was simply unbelievable in the way he conducted the rebuilding/renovation of this house. He as able to craft wood trim around baseboards and windows that precisely matched the 1910 woodwork. 4 bathrooms were completely and beautifully renovated along with a wet bar, a HUGE kitchen with a custom island, 2 HVAC systems, a new Rinnai instant-on hot water system, many new Pella windows with a huge amount of refinishing and framing to be done. Paint throughout, lots of electrical work, just basically a rebuild on this house. Everyone in Northport who comes to see this house is amazed at the transformation and the workmanship. We will be doing lots of business with Joe in the future as there are still old windows to replace and a garage to build. If you choose Joe Beman for your project, even a very large one, I can assure you that you will be very happy with the level of work, the promptness of service and the professionalism of Joe.

Joe Beman replaced two French slider doors in the lower level of my mother-in-law's lake home.  He did a beautiful job.

All the demo was completed quickly and easily with no concerns.  I have no issue with this part of the job.  The french doors and drywall work on the other hand, left something to be desired.  Screws were put in cockeyed, some damage occured to the header that wasn't fixed or even masked over so that perhaps I wouldn't notice.  The drywall work was something that, although short of a complete disaster, was a portion of the job that I lost faith on and went in a new direction based on how it started out.
Perhaps Beman Builders specializes on other areas.  Perhaps they should be used for rough ins and other jobs that would not involve finishes.  Their price was compelling, but if you are looking for something to have a clean finished look inside your home, I might suggest looking elsewhere.

That was a very bad thing. Beman Builders LLC is a custom builder and he really built high-end homes. I had one little thing on my roof. I really didn't understand what was wrong with it. I have a new house and it's a nice house for an upscale neighborhood. It's an expensive house. He came over and said that I wasn't closing my window properly. He guaranteed the work. He wasn't even here when the work was done. He never checked the work. I found out that what he did was so bad that he aimed the water to shoot down in my window and down the window. By the time I got it fixed, I called him back. The work was lousy. He looked at it and he ran away.

Joe is an extremely conscientious and professional builder - the details mattered as much to him as they did to us.  He has creative ideas - what we had in our minds came out better than we could have imagined because of his input.  We were overseas for most of the project with a 12 hour time difference yet communications were seamless and he got the job done right on schedule. Whenever we hit any bumps along the way, we came to know we could count on him to give us the straight story and we worked together to come up with a plan.
His work is beautiful, he is on time, and he leaves the job site perfectly clean.
PS.  At the end of the project there was drywall dust in the garage and Joe even washed our car as part of the cleanup process because he didn't want us to come home to a dusty car.

We are very happy that we went with Beman Builders.  We were  able to trust Joe with letting himself in and out with a key since we were out of town and that was very important to us.  Joe did a great job and has a great attention to detail.  If there was anything that we thought needed more attention, Joe took care of it without any problems.  I would highly recommend him and we are planning on using him again with our future renovations.

Joe was extremely professional, very prompt, and always stayed in touch regarding the project.  We decided to hold off, but will definitely contact him again.

I couldn't be more pleased.  Joe worked with us on every step of the remodel.  This was the 6th time we hired him to do work for us.  He has built us a deck, replaced a sliding glass door, repaired damaged wood, installed wood flooring and various finish work within our home.   His estimate was all inclusive.  He pulls all necessary permits.  Joe keeps a clean worksite.  I am perfectly confident that the job and materials are the best.  He is our go to builder.

Joe is meticulous. He went above and beyond in accommodating our needs. He was flexible in scheduling despite cabinet supply issues with Lowe's and KraftMaid. We had used Joe's services in the past and also had a great experience with him, which is why we choose to use him for this job. I would highly recommend Joe for any construction or renovation needs.

This builder has a wealth of knowledge and did not need to be hand-held.  They did the work and followed up in a timely fashion without over-site.  They were professional and VERY helpful.  They were positive and honest.  I would work with this builder exclusively in the future.

All went well until we had damage materials issues with Lowe's, of course not at all Joe's fault.
I would recommend  that until Lowe's get control of its materials being damaged when  arriving
at their Traverse City Store, that you go to Home Depot First
I would DEFINITELY call Joe again for other projects.  
He has done several for us over the last three years, and we have been pleased with the results.
