White Star is the worst moving company I ever hired out of 12 moves. First, White Star, Mayflower and United are one company. I moved out of state and they promised a one-truck move--meaning my belongings wouldn't be moved from truck-to-truck. I found out long after the fact, through realtors in Michigan, that White Star does NOT offer one-truck moves over state lines. White Star packed my items in a Mayflower truck and my items arrived in a United truck. White Star tried to lie and say they didn't switch trucks! Secondly, they said they knew how to move grand pianos. They don't. They did $2569.00 worth of damage to my grand piano because they didn't know what they were doing. I have proof of this. White Star underestimated boxes needed and made me buy $700 more boxes on moving day. Plus, I had to purchase more boxes at Lowes that day and scavenge the neighborhood for even more boxes. In the end they refused to move whole closets because they didn't have boxes. I didn't impose limitations on boxes. I never heard of a mover that didn't bring enough boxes. None of my Stiffel lamps were wrapped in lamp boxes. They were scratched and broken. Some lamp shades were busted, some disappeared. I have pictures to back up my claims. Some lamps were put in the truck without being boxed! When I got to my destination things were missing and White Star admitted they still had my items in their warehouse. White Star lost ALL the hardware to the furniture that they knocked down, lost all cables to printers, computers, chargers, etc. After the boxes left my house, they were opened and someone pilfered through them. Not only was many things missing, I got items that didn't belong to me! The settlement was a long, laborious exercise of stupidity, where an "unbiased arbitrator" said I didn't jump through their hoops fast enough. The truth was, I met all their deadlines of filling out forms, performing little exercises and busy work, but I had to call and spur them along to continue with the process. They deliberately dragged this process out. Nobody ever addressed that items were stolen, I had other peoples items or why lamp boxes weren't used. They also stated that I expected them to supply the boxes! Moving companies SHOULD supply boxes. I didn't know how many boxes I needed. That is why a estimator comes to the house prior to moving. While going through this process, I was held up and stopped because I had to deal with a bunch of different companies. Armstrong Relocation, Estes Relocation, Claims Team 4, Unigroup, etc. These companies all had a high turnover rate and the people I worked with kept quitting, so I had to start the laborious process all all over with my claims. In addition, they kept telling me that I needed to talk to a manager, but never had a name of a person to talk to. I spent hours on hold. I finally squeezed money to fix some of the damaged furniture, but they refused to pay for the long list of broken and stolen items. This is a customer-service driven business. I wanted Marc Rogers, the CEO to get involved because I was sold a lie of a one-truck move with movers who knew how to move a grand piano. I got neither. In the end, I was treated very shabby and have warned many realtors to never recommend Mayflower or United.

It only went one mile and the truck driver drove around the big block waisting time, then could not back the truck up again. Happy it's all over, won't use or refer this company ever.

This company has hidden fees that don't tell you about until the movers show up to your door on the day of the move. They have two guys, one who moves the items, the other stays on the truck, this is so they can milk the customer for more hours/money! Their supervisor at the office is most unprofessional and unaccommodating to the customer. They never give you the truth about fees/service they provide is different than your negotiation. They are sloppy and slothful, after we finally got moving they left their tools at my old home and I had to go back to get the items. They did not want to give me a discount for their poor service. I had to fight with them for the price I originally agreed to and the discount for their mistakes. They took paint off the walls, shoe marks on carpet. JUST A HORRIABLE COMPANY, I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!

Whitestar was the only company that had a fair price for a pair of 2 man trucks vs the typical 3 man from the other companies. Neil, Tyreese, Tru, & Phil were great! They were on time and the move was done early enough in the day that I was able to start unpacking. The house was a new build and they took the time to protect the floors properly and at the end of the move no damage was done to our house or our belongings. I'd hire these guys again!

They are very good! If they can send a bigger truck it will be better. The truck is a little bit small. They have to do trips to empty the house.

We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Neil, Devin, Will and Patrick. All of them were professional and focused on doing an excellent job. They sorted through the complex task of getting seven rooms of furniture in all the right places, including assembling several pieces of furniture that had been disassembled for storage. They courteously accommodated our additional requests tor change where a sofa or such had been placed. The move was truly a Herculean task, with many heavy boxes and items, and most of them needing to be toted down a steep stairway for sorting/storage but the team was tireless, cheery and did an outstanding job. We appreciate it!

The men were punctual but not highly professional. A few repairs were needed after they moved items that were in working condition before they were touched (stand alone freezer did not work after the move because they took the door off and it was damaged, we paid for repairs company did not reimburse). A very large and heavy armoire was damaged and had to be fixed in order to stand back upright (was standing upright fine before the move) and a jewelry mirror chest was not put back together and is still in pieces as we cannot find the hardware). Company was not responsive to our inquiries about the damages until I repeatedly badgered them with emails.

It was a horrible, horrible experience. They damaged a variety of different things. I paid extra to have individual pictures and mirrors wrapped and they indicated to me that it would cost 11.00 each. I said that was fine. Once they unloaded it, they had everything jammed into a couple of big boxes. They damaged the walls in the brand new condo when they were unloading. They have a bunch of young kids, maybe in their twenties I would say, maybe late teens. They could have cared less. Their mission was to unpack that truck as quick as they could, so that they could get out of here. I have some pretty expensive furniture and there are more nicks and dings. I refused to pay until I had talked to someone because it was 8:00 in the evening. I got this attitude from this kid that was just unbelievable. They were sarcastic if I complained while they were unpacking. Again, just typical teenage, young adult behavior. No customer service whatsoever. I had paid to have the empty boxes removed, they only took the ones that were available and they didn't come back to get the rest of them. There were quite a few boxes. They sent a kid out again to look at the damage. He was a little bit more civil. They only thing they offered to do anything about was to send a furniture guy out because they had broken a leg on an antique console that I had. He fixed that. But the rest of the stuff, they didn't bother. The owner or supervisor or manager didn't even bother to call. When I refused to pay, I said I wanted to talk to someone. I told them I would pay when I could talk to someone to have arrangements made to have someone look at the damage and have it fixed. There was one piece they had left behind in the old condo and they told me if I wanted that piece I would have to pay. In the old condo, they broke the hall light moving a tall piece of furniture, which I replaced. They dinged up the woodwork. The whole thing was just an absolute disaster and I have moved across country twice. I have never had a moving company this unprofessional, this uncaring, this messy. I did end up paying them. I would not use them again.

You can't beat AWESOME!!! In the past 2 years I have used White Star Moving Co 3 times. Once for myself and once for each of my daughters. When the movers showed up at my house I asked them if they were old enough to drive, since they were so young looking. LOL Then I worried that they might be careless or slow. Within a few minutes I realized.... Boy was I wrong!!! They were the fastest and most courteous group of young men I had ever seen. Honestly they were running the whole time. There wasn't any damage to any of my furnishing nor to my walls. And the best part was the price was even cheaper than the original estimate. I recommended them to both of my daughters & (many friends). Even though we all had a different crew...everyone was extremely happy. I would not hesitate to use them again and again.

WILL NOT PAY FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR MOVERS!!!!!! United quickly paid for the damage to the items damaged by Whitestar, but damage to property/the house is left to a third party chosen by Whitestar...Estes Relocation in Estes, TX owned by Penny Estes. Estes Relocation was quick to pay for the $175 wall damage from the crib, but the floor damage would require their 1/2 of the $1700 top coat estimate ($850) and move out of the first floor furniture (free to their moving company or 1/2 of the $3000 estimate if a local Iowa company handled the move), plus 1/2 of the local $39.99 hotel costs per night ($20) for the 5 days for the new top coat to be laid and 5 days curing time. So for $950 - $2450 depending on if they did the move for them to fix my newly refinished hardwood floor they damaged. Their share is only 1/2 because the flooring company made a mistake in my flooring in a separate room from the 2 rooms where the top coat was damaged by the movers and the moveout, top coat, and hotel would need to occur anyway. I did everything I could to get the moving estimate as low as possible for my 1700 sq ft first floors of 1 continuous hardfloor with no breaks...putting the smaller items on different floors in my home, putting my Pottery Barn furniture in a POD in my driveway instead of storage, just moving the large furniture items, etc. When I spoke to Whitestar, they said "Penny [Estes] handles all of our claims. I said that I spoke with her after she offered me a $250 "good faith" settlement for the floor damage which is a joke and she received the estimates for the cost to fix my floor. She told me to call you and provided me with your number, now you guys are saying to call her. Someone needs to fix my floor." This has been going on 1.5 years. I notified both Estes Relocation and Whitestar companies that if they did not fix my floor, that I would contact the gov't travel office to terminate their contract with the government, leave a negative online review, and sue for damages. They responded in a letter I received today (13 June 2017) with a reminder of the $250 "good faith" offer and it would be their final offer. This company might be OK for junky furniture and local moves if your don't care about damage and just want it moved. IF YOU HAVE VALUABLE FURNITURE OR OTHER BELONGINGS, OR A HIGH VALUE HOME.... DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! Their packers and movers are sweet young kids that will not wrap things properly and have no regard for your home. "Throw it in the box, scoot it in the home across the floor causing damage, don't wrap furniture causing deep gouges to where the furniture will not be the same even after repair, shove it in the room, gouge the wall" seems to be their moving motto. Sloppy and unprofessional. Their claims are worse than the moving itself. How horrible to treat a military family this way even after they charged the tax payer top dollar for this move for top quality service and that did not happen. Please go with a nationally known company if you value your belongings or your home.

The estamate was not close to the price of the move. We take responsibility for that as we were going to do more of our packing, we were on a time restraint, but he had said , if you need us to pack , let me know. I did tell him that night that we would need them to pack a move. He said no problem, we will do the packing and pick up as we had items some already in a storage unit nearby. He said he would use a large team and knock it all out at once instead of a two day, ( one for packing and one moving day). The four guys show up in the morning at the unit and right away one of them starts grumbling. So they load the storage locker and take those things to the apartment, fit as much big items as they can from that place and head to our new town house. Two men are left behind to pack. They didn't know they'd be packing the house and one guy who had been in the business for 16 years or something said" Hey, if someone wants me to take 10 hours and pay out 2 grand , ha, no problem I'll do that." He said it to the other packer as I was coming up the stairs and he didn't know I was back in the house. Well , now I knew how long they were going to take, and what they planned on charging us. They labeled boxes, but nothing made sense. I had one box labeled kitchen, and inside were plates and the toilet bowl cleaner from an adjacent bathroom. Gross. In another box, was my grandmothers China, the box said "fine china and fruit." I kid you not , my grandmothers China was wrapped up, and I the same box was a banana from the kitchen, wrapped and squished. I was very disappointed, and angry , as now I had to take the China out, which I hoped to just leave "professionally wrapped and boxed", in the basement as we are only here temporarily. So, not trusting their ability to not pack open or fresh food with household items, I had to unpack everything, which is a waste of time and money. I was told they would not pack open items or food. I was cool with that. My husband took over late in the day and told them, take everything, but he was on office calls, so I think he thought they'd use common sense and place perishable items together and not with dinner ware. Two of the four guys acted professionally and did the job with humor and just trying to get the work done. Two were grumbling and cocky, I found very annoying at the price. I had a consultation, I paid 140 an hour, plus material, and I can not help if the guy making the arrangements of move used movers to pack or whatever they were complaining about. Also, they ran out of boxes and used some from mine, but made sure they used all the rolls of paper they brought, even though some boxes had sheets tossed in and others were used as wrapping or cushioning as would be expected. We gave them all an additional tip, as that's what we do,and it is hard work, but really only two of the guys should be working there and the other two have horrible attitude which made me feel uncomfortable as if they were doing me a favor and I had burdened them with my move. Bottom line, they did the job, but I had to redo the packing after the move even though I wanted to just store some items as this isn't our forever home. The guys did the work , but grumbling (body aches, "not my job , below my pay grade" crap, communication problems within the company was directed toward me the customer. Terrible, unprofessional, expensive, and no common sense, right or reason packing and labeling. They ran out of boxes, but brought to much paper , so didn't want to bring it back, so threw it in and charged us for it. They didn't do the box count until after the move. Just a mess and stressful, and made more stressful by the attitude, and after the move the degree of things just some things wrapped nicely while other things shoved and crammed into boxes. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
