We rent the house so we didn't see the work at first but now we are readying the place for new tenants we see how terrible the job was. They measured it incorrectly, didn't glue it down, missed the caulking. It keeps popping out from the wall and the 6 burner stove keeps dropping down. They ignore us or flat out lie about it. Each person has a different story. We have been very understanding but now we are done.

Worked with Max Fair who is an outstanding resource. Took the time to walk the floor with us as we whittled down our choices. Always communicated, took input, provided feedback, and we wound up with a phenomenal result. Great delivery/install workers. On-time and professional. Would recommend them to anyone looking to do kitchen granite/quartz.

Lousy. The resulting 4 tile chip damages are located in the back wall, well above the bath tub. Obviously, the worker did not step into the bathtub, instead was standing within the narrow 41” strip width floor space area, lifting the countertop to their chest-level, trying to re-orient by turning it around.

They didn't do exactly what they said they were going to do. It was the way that they cut the granite. They didn't piece it together the way they said they were going to piece it together so we had some extra seams that we weren't aware of.

Our countertop is oversized so there needed to be a seam in the marble. We were ok with this but the seam Hard Rock Stone works made was pretty messy looking. We are pretty sure they chipped the marble. They had to come back twice to try and fix it. In the end we just signed off on it because we didn't want them to mess with anymore.

l was looking for a company who would fabricate and install a new granite countertop and sink. I came across Hard Rock Stone Works in Sterling Heights. I contacted them and spoke with Max Fair. I can't say enough good things about Max. Not only is he professional and friendly but he goes out of his way to help in ANY way he can. Max and I communicated through many emails along the way and every time, Max replied quickly to mine. If I had to call him and he was not available at the time, he made sure to call me back that same day. On my 1st visit to Hard Rock, I was greeted by warm welcomes and friendly smiles by everyone I encountered. Max took my husband and I on a tour of the facility to show us how our countertop would be made and the equipment they would be using to make it. He explained every detail to us. Max and Hard Rock even worked with me to get the pricing to fit into my budget.
At that time, I was having a lot of work done in my kitchen and scheduling an install date to fit in around the other contractors was going to be tricky. But Marley was so helpful and kind and really worked with me to make sure my install date was during a convenient time frame for everyone.
On July 2, Hard Rock came out to install my granite countertop and new composite sink. I had purchased my own sink and delivered it to Hard Rock a couple weeks prior to the fabrication and install. Somehow the sink had gotten a crack in it while in Hard Rock's care/or while being installed. The problem was IMMEDIATELY handled by Max, Gary and Shareen. I received a new sink and it was installed the following day at NO cost to myself. Hard Rock was very apologetic for the mishap and any inconvenience it may have caused me. Anyone can sell you a service or product but a GREAT company stands behind that service/product when a problem, such as this, occurs. And that's what Hard Rock does.
My new granite countertop is beautiful, flawless and I love it. I had a wonderful experience working with Max and everyone at Hard Rock. I would and will do business with them again and will also be recommending them to friends and family. They are an outstanding company with outstanding employees ! :)

I had a great experience with Hard Rock. I was concerned after reading the reviews but asked my salesman Mark, and he addressed my concerns very open and honestly. They were professional and on time with measuring and installing. The process was very smooth and the people were great! Very happy and would use them again.

Hard Rock recently installed granite in my kitchen and bathroom. The installation took all day and one of the installers was less than professional. Another installer kept talking in ear shot of us about how he didn't like spending his entire Saturday doing an installation! Within a week of the installation, a part of the granite that is very visible in our kitchen, on the end of a bar area, had a very large fracture in it that wrapped around the granite from top to bottom. Other granite companies verified the fracture and mentioned they would have never installed such an inferior product and it was less than professional on Hard Rock’s part. Needless to say, Hard Rock walked away from fixing the situation. They tried blaming us for not inspecting the 3 slabs of granite before the job was started. Unfortunately, when you visit their warehouse, only the front side of the slabs are visible (the backs are leaning against other slabs of granite). Great customer service - blame the customer first before trying to rectify their error! They said that they could install another piece of granite, but it would be at our expense (on top of the original job!) and it probably wouldn't match the rest of the kitchen granite. Therefore, my kitchen is still undone (I can't put up a ceramic backsplash until I find out how I'm going to fix this error). I've never dealt with a less professional owner than Randy, either! I visited his store to discuss the edge of the granite I wanted before it was cut, and he acted like a bully to me in front of all his employee's! I should have recognized that red flag and walked away. It would have saved me this huge headache!!! Please DO NOT use this company. I’m 52 years old and I’ve remodeled numerous homes. This is the first time a company has been this unprofessional and shady. Now I know why they send out so many flyers in the mail…They have to drum up business because customer word of mouth is probably killing them!

Over all the length of time was unacceptable to make counter tops. Took them a week to come out to measure and then when they came to install one of the counters was over a inch too long and they cut into the wall and put the counter in the wall instead of cutting off the excess. Poor measuring equipment that is outdated for older homes was used. Using the dot system instead of the laser grid does not pick up the imperfections of older homes with plaster walls besides not measuring accurately.
They took my new fiberglass sink and brought it back with a corner broke out. Factory did not mark the sink cut out correctly so I had to tell them to put the sink on and draw the cut out correctly. On install the corner of the counter was chipped at the seam and had to be filled with epoxy.
This company is very unprofessional and do not know how to properly measure, cut granite counter tops besides being so slow.
The installers did the best they could with the product they received but were not happy either.
I called to complain and was put on voice mail. I ordered the counter tops through Lowes and will be expressing my strong dissatifaction with the use of this company. I am a contractor from Florida and know quality work and customer service Hard Rock Stone Works does not have either.
My advise is to stay away from this company and if you buy through Lowes or Home Depot make sure they don't use them.
I seriously doubt they will replace my $400.00 sink

Very happy with Hard Rock. Initially we were not going to install granite but they felt we could find something within our budget (and we did!). Very professional; tear out on day one and installation on day 2, each taking less than two hours. Love my countertop! Highly recommend this company.

  1. I can’t say enough positive things about Hard Rock Stone Works! From beginning to end, the process was unbelievably smooth. My sole reason for joining Angie’s List was to find a reputable company to replace our laminate kitchen countertops with granite, and initially, I was disappointed with the first few high ranked companies I contacted. I had fully researched the granite installation process, carefully drew a diagram with detailed measurements of our needs, photographed our present layout and then emailed companies this information along with questions I had. Hard Rock was the only company willing to continuously respond completely to all my many questions and requests, they gave a detailed estimate and provided any additional necessary info -- and all by email exchanges! Max, our sales and contact person, was absolutely fantastic! I’d say he was the reason for our final decision. When we finally met him at the Sterling Heights showroom to pick out our granite, he was extremely helpful and not only explained but demonstrated the whole procedure. Jason (I’m not sure of his name) came to our home and measured our countertop with a laser device, took pictures and left with the undermount sink we had purchased -- he was great. Then, after about two weeks, it was a mere 3-day process:

Day 1, Tim and Tony carefully removed the old countertop, sink and cooktop so that I could donate them to charity -- they cleaned up thoroughly and were very proficient. I was thankful that Tim was willing to cap the gas line for the cooktop at my request (we did not intend to reinstall it).
Day 2, Mike and Vassal did the heavy lifting to install the 77 sq. ft. of granite, as well as the sink and faucet we had purchased -- they were just as great. Any concerns I may have had about the braces supporting the peninsula section of the countertop were completely eliminated, because they made it very secure. Mike explained how to care for the granite, and told us to wait 24 hours for the silicone to set before we used it.
Day 3, Mike and Mike reconnected the plumbing, garbage disposal and dishwasher -- they were terrific as well.

Everyone arrived at their stated time, were professional, knowledgeable, personable, efficient, obviously skilled in their craft, and a pleasure to have work in our home. Our new countertop is just beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Both my husband and I were extremely impressed with all aspects of this company. We recommend them highly.

Overall, the experience was positive. The quoted price was comparable amonst several companies. The plus' with Hard Rock were based on the undermount sink installation, which included a wire harness to hold the sink in place in addition to the adhesive. They also included a dishwasher bracket for top mounting, which we didn't end up installing, but it was good to have that option. I provided exact cabinetry measurements to them after the initial estimate in square footage, in order to get a very close to exact quote price. Unfortunately the person I dealt with did not use the exact measurements to adjust the square footage in the quote, so the price ended up being several hundred dollars more than the quoted price after the measurements were done. This was a suprise to me and ticked me off some, and could have easily been avoided had they used the info I sent them in the quote. Overall this was the only negative. Installation went well and I was happy with the overal result.
