Majestic Landscape Services

We needed to replace our patchy old lawn . I found Majestic Landscape Services, among others, here on Angie's List. Our front lawn is an extreme incline and our number one concern was deciding between hydro-seeding and sod installation. I was under the impression that sod was more expensive than seed.
Chris Nadeau came out and spoke with my husband, Randy. I was not at home. My husband expressed all of our concerns and questions about the incline.  He made a point of asking about rototilling to ensure that everything would be level and even. Mr. Nadeau said that adding topsoil and raking it in would have the same result and, unfortunately, we took his word for it. He assured us that the incline would not pose a problem, that the strips of sod would be stapled in place to prevent slippage.
He said he would send an estimate for both sod and hydro-seeding. He emailed just the sod estimate for $1436.32, so I called and asked how much the hydro seed would be. I was told it would be the same. My husband wanted sod and paid them $720 down on Aug.12. We never saw Mr. Nadeau again.
Long story short, the men came and brought top soil and spread it around. Two days later they laid the sod. They told us to water like crazy every day which we did and every thing looked fine.  My husband sent  a check for $716.32 a few days later paying in full.
After 4 weeks, Randy called and ask if Majestic's people would do the first mowing (for a fee) and he was told that they "don't do that". So we hired another lawn service to do it because we wanted to make sure it was done right.
That was a few weeks ago. Now we can areas where the sod has separated because it was not stapled as agreed. Also there are holes where the soil was not leveled as it was supposed to be. I was very upset and my husband call Mr. Nadeau with our concerns and asked him to come over and see what we could do. Mr. Nadeau said to send him a picture but that he didn't know what he could do about it.  I sent him the pictures that I hope I can figure out how to post here.  This is the response I got from Mr. Nadeau:

I have looked at the pictures and to me it looks like the sod is torn or has slipped.  This would be from walking or most likely
mowing before the sod was fully rooted.  I understand that you have spent good money to have the work done.  The damage was done after we installed the project.  It has been over a month and a half since the project.  I assume at this point you are holding us responsible for the damage?
Further yet,  Am I to assume that you desire Majestic to fix the issue at no cost? I do not mean to be controversial.  However,  I would assume if the  project was not installed correctly
we would have been notified within a few days of the completion. Thank you

I told him that we wanted no further dealings with him and that we'd hire someone else to fix what he had done. We have never seen the man since the day he came to give an estimate. He was very sweet and polite that day. He has no interest or pride in the work they do nor in customer satisfaction. Don't do business with Majestic Landscape services or Chris Nadeau.
