Beautiful results and worked with us on the pricing since it was paid for twice!!. They did 1st floor living room, dining room, den and hallway and 2nd floor: three bedrooms and hallway and 2 stairways. Carlos was a gem!! The work was done quickly, professionally, excellent clean up and the floors were awesome.

Just as another reviewer wrote, while I was talking to the crew leader, the crew walked right in past us into my home and started walking around my house. What really upset me is that I was not informed that they take cash only. the crew leader said, “If you don’t have cash we cannot do the job today. The owner doesn’t want to take checks or any other payment besides cash”. So I had to leave the house go to the bank and get cash and I had to have a job done because I paI’d movers to empty my house for the job Or tell them to get out of there and try to schedule another company, which could be two or more weeks in the busy the spring. I should’ve gone with the quote from another company that was just slightly higher because they were much more professional and I have two small dips in the floor that weren’t there before. They have stamped on my receipt, “ We do not accept credit cards or personal check CASH ONLY”. They need to form you when they quote so you can decide not to use them if you want to use another method to pay or at least be prepared. This has bothered me since the job was done and I thought others should be aware.

I had many recommendations for Wilsons and we thought we were making a good choice, but this was one of the worst experiences that we have had with a home improvement project. The job was to remove the carpet in our living room and to refinish the living room and an upstairs bedroom. They then ripped up the carpet in a hallway that I specifically told them not to both verbally and via text. In the process of removing the carpet they also gouged our baseboards in multiple places. They then left the removed carpet and padding in our driveway after paying them $600 for carpet removal. They tried to rectify the situation by giving us $300 towards the cost of new carpet for the hallway and stairs, but the actual cost is $900. To top it all off they left half eaten food in our bedroom and there was no work being done in that room and therefore no reason for them to even be in there. I would not recommend this company to anyone, save yourself the trouble.

It went great. Sonny came first to replace a few boards where pet stains were not able to sanded out. He also installed a couple boards where an entry wall was removed. He removed all the staples and pulled up padding and carpet, as I was recovering from hip surgery. Then Jeff's crew came in and got to work. Great dust containment system minimizes house mess. Walls were freshly pained with no base molding on. Taped up the walls so fresh paint wouldn't be damaged. They courteously answered any questions I had and mixed a custom stain to match the room they had done previously. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to anyone who wants floors done.

The contractor came to my home as contracted. He sanded the floor, then put a finished coat on it, and was done with my floor in record time. I was concerned then. Still we allowed the floor to dry, as the contractor instructed, with no traffic in that room. After the recommended drying time, we looked at the floor and discovered there was many sizeable gaps between the boards in the floor that the contractor never filled.
I called Wilson's Floor Sanding many, many times about this problem. First he accused us of causing the problem because we cracked a window to vent the fumes. Then, Mr. Wilson informed me that I would have to get wood filler and fill the small gaps myself. I explained that the gaps were much larger and longer. He told me the contractor would be at my home the next day to remedy the problem. The contractor never showed up.
I went back to calling Jeff Willson, owner of Wilson's Floor Sanding with no response at all. This went on for 4 months!. Finally my husband called Mr. Wilson and made contact. Mr. Wilson stated he would come to my home to fill the gaps in my floor. When he arrived at my home, he proceeded to fill the open gaps, then placed tape over them so they would dry or cure. Mr. Wilson told me to leave the tape on there for 2-3 days and assured me the filler he used would match my floor. After 3 days, we removed all the tape only to discover that the filler he used was much lighter than floor and the filler he put on was also bulging out of the cracks. It wasn't even level with the floor!
At that point we threw up our hands. My husband spent hours scraping the excess filler off the floor so it would at least be level. Given the problems we've had, I would not recommend Wilson's Floor Sanding to anyone.

I just purchased a home on Grosse Ile with existing wood floors with add in new wood flooring blended in due to a Remodling project to open the kitchen area up with the living space. I decided to get multiple bids which ranged from over $4500 to $2650. I had around 1050 sq. ft. To be sanded, stained and coated. Needless to say but Jeff was the low bid. I didn't go with his bid just to save money but his REPUTATION. I was told by many people that he did excellent work. The job was scheduled a few weeks out because of his bookings but when the time came Jeff followed up with a call on the start up job date and time. He and his crew came in and did a very good efficient job. Jeff even took the time to fill in a couple of spots by the new kitchen island which turned out great. He also gave me instructions on the care of my new refinished floors. I will definitely call Jeff back and not bother with those other guys! I have one more project next year for his services. Thanks Jeff, Carlos!!

Wilson Floor Sanding Service is excellent. We have hard wood floors in the living room, we pulled the carpet up and there was an area of the walkway where the floor was black and it looked molded. It looked like there was no way it could be repaired and there was an area about three feet wide running the length of the living room running the shortest distance. There wasn't actual floor there because whoever previously owned the home expanded the room because it had a small entryway in a really small living room, they filled an area with cement so there was no hardwood floor. One of there workers was an expert in repairs. They ordered wood, they went all over to find seasoned wood and norwood to mix it all in together and they did the repairs and you can't tell that there wasn't any floor there. The prices are excellent. We are recommending them to everybody we know.

I can't express to you enough how much you need to look elsewhere for hardwood floor refinishing services. My experience with Wilson's and Jeff Wilson was an absolute nightmare. This review may seem a bit rambling but I will try my best to stay in order. To begin, I called Jeff to come quote the job. That went well. He showed up at the agreed upon time, did some measuring, gave me a price of $1270.00 (780 sq ft @ $1.50 and $100 for a third coat of varnish.) We agreed on a date to start the work. He showed up with his crew on time and began to sand the floors to remove the old finish. In retrospect, this is where the alarm bells should have started going off.
Between the hours of 3pm and 5:30pm, Jeff and his crew sanded off the old finish, cleaned up and put on the first coat of varnish. All of this on 780 sq ft. In 2.5 hours! I am here to warn you that if you ever see your contractor running through you house like a mad man to finish his day, SOMETHING IS WRONG!!! But I didn't question anything, I just thought they were really good at what they did. I didn't interrupt anything. I let the whole process play out over the 3 days needed to finish the job. On day 5, having let the varnish cure for 48 hours, I began to inspect Jeff's work. This is where the sick feeling in my stomach began. My floors were messed up, BAD. I had spinners everywhere. If you don't know what spinners are, they are sanding marks left by the hand power sanders that are used around the perimeter of the rooms. Basically anywhere the big drum sander can't get to they use the hand sanders. If proper care isn't taken to carefully sand these areas you are left with semi circular sanding marks in the floor. Very noticeable.
In addition to the spinners, my floors were covered in swirl marks. Everywhere. Swirl marks are left from the sanding between coats of varnish when an improper grit of sand paper is used on the buffer. At a later date, Jeff told me they only go up to a 120 grit sandpaper between coats. This is amateur hour! The correct grit to use is at least 220, if not higher.
Now for my hallway. It was gouged so badly by the hand power sander that it isn't even funny. DEEP, DEEP gouges in a half moon shape. They were so bad that you could see them from across the room. This is when I called Jeff to express my extreme dissatisfaction.
I began telling Jeff about all of my issues and all he wanted to do was cut me off, talk over me. He went on and on about how everything I was seeing was normal and that I need to give my floors time to mature. He claims that the product he uses needs 90 days for the resins to bind, eliminating all defects in the floor. (If you are unfortunate enough to hire him, you will hear this many times. He even gives you a sheet explaining why you are seeing what you are seeing. I call it his and quot;list of excuses for why he sucksand quot;) To sum up the whole phone call, I agreed to let my floors and quot;matureand quot; for 30 days. I told him he would be hearing back from me in 1 month. 30 days pass and of course my floors still look like crap. Time doesn't heal all wounds. This is where everything heads down hill. I call Jeff. Repeatedly. He doesn't answer the phone, doesn't return my calls. I'm not joking when I say that I had to call him from a different phone number to get him to answer. And when he did answer, it was a phone call for the record books.
This guy let loose on me a torrent of excuses and vulgarity like you wouldn't believe. His kid is dying in the hospital, I didn't wait 90! days for my floors to mature, he lost money on my job because it took 22 sanding drums @ $32 a piece to remove my old finish, they had to haul out 35 bags of sawdust ( I swear on my grandmothers grave he said those things to me) ON AND ON AND ON. And everything was F bomb this and F bomb that. Well, I wasn't having any of it. I informed him that he would be coming back to fix my floors. He finally calmed down and agreed to come back out. He told me that if after he was done this second time that I wasn't happy that he would refund my money.
So April 9, 2013 they come back out to repair my messed up floors. They sanded my hallway floor so deep to remove the gouges that I will need to replace the floorboards entirely when I get someone competent to come out and repair Jeff's work. My floor has even more swirl marks in it than before they came out to fix it. And all of the spinners are still there. Repeated phone calls to Jeff for a refund as I was promised are ignored, my voicemails are not returned to this day. My floor looks like crap and I am reminded of that everyday that I look down at it. I try to avoid doing so but on sunny days it is impossible to not notice it. PLEASE, PLEASE avoid Jeff Wilson like he is the plague. You will only regret it if you use him.
I have to mention my experience with Mr. Dan Corrieri. He is the head of the Research and Development Laboratory for Sampson Coatings Inc, the maker of the varnish used on my floor. I asked him about their product needing 90 days to mature. He told me that he had never heard of any such claim in his life! He said that any defect in the floor at the time of varnishing was permanent, time wouldn't help that defect!
To conclude, PLEASE RECONSIDER USING WILSON'S FLOOR SANDING SERVICE! You will likely regret it like I do. I regret it everyday that I have to look at my horrible floors. The following points sum up my experience:
- Wilson's will get varnish all over your baseboards. It is listed in their list of excuses for why this is ok. It isn't ok, just a clear sign of someone who is sloppy and doesn't give a crap.
- You will have spinners all over your floor.
- Your floor will be full of swirl marks.
- They may gouge your floor so badly with the floor sander that you will need to replace floorboards when somebody
competent comes in to repair Jeff Wilson's work.
- If you disagree with Jeff, be prepared for the vulgarity, especially the F bombs.
- Jeff will lie up, down, left and right about the performance of Sampson coatings. Call Mr. Dan Corrieri if you doubt me. A simple google search for Sampson Coatings will turn up their website and you can find Mr. Corrieri's direct number under CONTACT US.
- You will witness Jeff and his crew running at break neck speed through you house on the first day so they can get out of there and go home!
- They will leave any and all garbage at your house. It is listed on Jeff's list of excuses that he charges $5 a bag to remove waste.
Use this information as you see fit. I cringe every time I see a Wilson's floor sanding service sign out in somebody's front yard. I feel bad that they are having to learn the hard way...

Response from Wilson's Floor Sanding Service
"This job had pet urine damage EVERYWHERE. The customer let us in the house and took off the job site. It was a total mess when we showed up I called him after sanding the pet urine damage and told how bad the floors were. He said just do the best job you can So we kept sanding we put 3 coats on the floors in 3 days not one day did he ever call to complain about the Job. He seen the Job all 3 days and never had any questions about our workmenship or and defect in the sanding process. A week later he call and said he seen crack’s in the floor where the wood floor came out I told that was normal for an old floor a lot of them are loose and some of the filler will always come out. That is when he got rude with me. And called me a lair. I showed documents from the national wood Flooring Association that shows you what to expect when you have your Floor’s refinished which I have been a member of for 20 years. These are the Guide Line’s in which we do our Refinishing on. I came back to the Job Site and refilled the spots he pointed out and he still was not happy The house was still under complete construction so I wanted to make him happy so I told him when all the tradesmen where done I would come back and apply a 4 coat of Polyurethane Finish at no charge a few week’s later he called back and said he had to move in by that weekend so he want the 4 coat done asap. I did it the next day The house was still a mess all the tradesmen were not done There was construction debret everywhere. I clean up the jo site sanded the floor down. With 150 grit sand. Cleaned the floor and aplyed a 4th coat at no charge. That was the last time I heard from him. What he said in the letter is a complete lie. A never once and never will talked to anyone that way. F bombs are not the way we talked to any one I am completely outraged by this letter. I have refinished hardwood floors since I was 12 years old with my Grandfather Father my Brother and now I am 46 years old. I take pride in every Job I do we try to make every floor look like new. Some have pet urine damage like this one did It was one of the worst floor I had every seen. I still wanted to make the home owner happy so I did everything I could to get the urine damage out I had 5 other guy’s on the Job site with me trying to get the urine damage out. Not one time in the 3 day’s we were there did the Homeowner say he was not Happy with the Job. I refuse to let this person slander my name I have worked is my whole building a 5 star rating This is a 3rd generation company. We take pride in every Job wether it is a 10x10 (unreadable) or a 10,000 sq foot home in West Bloomfield Every job is done with Pride and we treat every Job like it si our House on or family having work done. This is no different. I tried to explain any Questions he had after the Job was done He not call or complain about any thing until a week later. He was very RUDE to me. Anything that I said he did not believe me to Be true. I told him Please go to national wood Flooring ass. Website That’s where we get our Bylaws and Step by Step process from and any defect’s in the floor can be reviewed on there. He till said I was LYING. It is people like this that make me want to have my son do something else in life Besides hardwood floor’s. I never want any one to talk to my son like this person talk and treated me and then put this on Angie List. We always had a 5 star rating with Angie List and won the Super Service Award 5 times."

The price was excellent for the work that they do. Wilson's Floor Sanding Service were very clean, very efficient, professional, courteous, prompt, they worked hard, they got in and they got out within the expected time frame, and the mess was minimal because they have a vacuum attached to their sanding equipment to suck it up as we go which is really important to us because our kids have asthma. We are going to have Wilson's Floor Sanding Service do another two rooms in the house this summer.
