American Outbuildings
About us
American Outbuildings has been custom building quality storage sheds and accessory buildings since 2001. Prior to this, we had installed “kit sheds” from the big box stores for several years. Seeing a need for a more affordable while at the same time, better constructed shed, we went to work designing a line a sheds without the flaws and corner cutting we had seen in the past. These designs combined with our experience and low overhead resulted in a high quality product with great value. We take pride in our work and appreciate our customer’s referrals and repeat business, so we work hard to exceed your expectations.

"This person called and asked if we could move his shed. We do not offer that but I asked him to send a pic of the shed to see if I could help. He sent a pic with the message “DO NOT FORGET ABOUT ME!” (In all caps). The shed was too large and had no floor or foundation so I messaged back that we could not help. We have never done business with this person."
Devon is every bit professional as the reviews stated. He is very easy to work with, he is no nonsense and gets things done. He actually started the job earlier then first quoted. We are so pleased to have found Devon. Thank you Devon for a well built and beautiful shed.
Builder in the State of Michigan and he previously worked for the company that
made the shed originally. He know exactly how the unit was constructed and what would be needed to make the
repairs .
Our shed is about 13 years old. When first constructed the builder did not use drip edge on the roof and consequently the edges of the roof absorbed water and deteriorated to the point that unless replaced the top plate of the shed wall could be compromised. In addition the materials which were used in the fascia trim had begun to rot. Devon quoted a reasonable price and his timeline met with our needs. Devon and his crew at the agreed upon time, removed the roofing shingles and a dormer, removed the deteriorated roof edge , replaced it with new, and removed the rotted fascia trim, and replaced with a rot proof product. They then installed drip edge and re shingled the roof. The entire job took them less than three hours. They hauled away all of the debris and left the site in the same condition as when they arrived. . The shed now looks new.
"Great to hear you were happy with our work! Just to give you a breakdown on the price since I see we got a "B" grade on a $700 total price: Cost at dump to dispose of old shingles, dormer and trim: $125 New shingles 175 Drip edge and fasteners 30 50 yr preprimed trim 80 Door hinges and lock for door we rehung 35 Plywood to replace rotted roof 10 ------ $455 That leaves $245 for myself and 2 skilled workers to completely tear off a shingled roof and dormer, replace rotted sheathing and drip edge, re shingle roof, remove and replace old trim with new high quality trim, jack up shed and re level, remove both doors and replace hinges, realign door and add new locking handle. Not to mention an hour plus at the lumber yard and a trip to the dump. Those "A" grades sure are tough sometimes,"
"Notice [Member Name Removed] review is 7 months after the job completion date. Perhaps his memory is off. We signed [Member Name Removed] up for a shed two months prior to the build date and explained that we were booked up until then. He understood and our contract had a proposed start date of two months later. In order to stay on schedule, we poured his concrete slab the same day as two others and worked until early evening to get it done. [Member Name Removed] was with us the entire time, happy and joking around. As we finished, his wife arrived home and I jokingly said "oh, you're too late to help, you missed all the fun". I guess she didn't understand the joke and went ballistic, shouting at me saying WE were two months late and she has been waiting on us. Ranting and raving. I excused myself and went to the front of the house to find [Member Name Removed] to explain what happened. He later apologized for his wife and said they had a recent death in the family causing stress. After the concrete had cured we came back to build the shed and built it in the rain, again, to stay on schedule. [Member Name Removed] was very happy with the results and I assume he has had no problems with it as I have not heard otherwise. Why someone would leave a bad review 7 months later, I do not understand. Yes, we had a lot of jobs lined up and our contract clearly had a proposed start date reflecting that."
Work was completed to my satisfaction and per the price quote.
Devon oversaw every aspect and made sure that everything was done correctly. If by chance a cut was wrong, or some joints did not line up, he made sure they did. He actively communicated with both me and my wife throughout the process. His focus on detail, and thinking through everything from the slope of the roof, to the finish on the uderside of the porch resulted in an excellent product. We are thrilled with the outcome and how he was able to bring the building to life from a sketch on a piece of notebook paper.
We would use American Outbuildings again in a second. Devon Reed is exactly what you would hope to find in an individual engaged in this business. Honest, hardworking, and quality focused.
What I find most amazing is that he was very honest and trustworthy. We paid half of the money when we requested the job and we paid the other half when the shed was built but the building hadn't been moved yet. I know there are some companies that would have taken advantage of that and dragged their feet about coming back out since there was no more money to be collected but not Devon. He was out here and had everything fixed before the week was out. I highly recommend American Outbuildings if you are looking for honest, dependable, and quality work at a great price!!
