We received quotes from two other companies prior to selecting Work of Art. The other quotes came in significantly higher which is why we selected Work of Art. We were curious if this would be a "you get what you pay for" situation since it cost so much less, but we were very satisfied with their end result. They did an excellent job and we would definitely hire them again or recommend them to anyone looking for an interior painter.
The entire project took about two and a half days from starting with prep work (including drywall repair and priming) to completion. Painters used multiple coats when necessary and were very responsive to us pointing out spots for touch-ups towards the end of the project. Everything was done to our satisfaction with minimal mess to clean-up afterward. There was a fair amount of dust left behind for us to mop up afterward, but no paint spills or any mess that seemed unacceptable. This was the only thing that kept them from receiving highest marks across the board. For the price, I couldn't imagine a better job.

Highly recommend. The house looks great outlined with lights like a gingerbread house. I did it for too many years going up and down a ladder.  Having them taken down in the January cold is the best of all. Bought the lights from them the first year and now it's on autopilot and i just write the check. The kids love it too!

It went well.  Work took more that a day because of patching needed to dry. They worked with us in a way to keep the cost down.

The Deck which had clearly been in need of care, looks brand new.  I had just purchased the home and it needed some tlc.  James and Shane and the crew did a fantastic job.  I was truly amazed.  They gave the deck great attention and I was really pleased.  In fact I liked the work they did so much that I had my parents use them to paint the outside of their home.  It also looked brand new when the painting job was done.  The highest quality workmanship I have seen from any painting company. I would highly recommend them.  In fact, they will be painting my house this spring.

Thanks- Work of Art --  your work is incredible.

James made an appointment and arrived on time and was able to give us a quote that evening.
He called later that week, the night before our room was to be painted, and confirmed the time and we gave him our paint color.
James and a painter, Jonathon, arrived at the time he said they would and started the job. Jonathon was very detailed and professional. We were extremely pleased with the quality of his work and the cleanliness of the area when he left, and he was very pleasant to work with.
He also put the cement board around the fireplace where we had torn up our existing tile. We were going to complete the fireplace ourselves and really appreciated Jonathon's input and advice as to how to finish the job.
We would definitely recommend Work of Art Painting to our friends.

Work of Art came out to the house and assessed what we wanted done on the exterior of our home.  They were very professional and made many recommendations for different types of paint and finished that would sustain the life of the wood that they were painting and reduced the price of the overall job.  We had chosen a different color to have the trim painted than what it originally was painted, and we chose poorly.  The color was not what we thought.  Work of Art Painting helped us to color match what was on the house originally and worked with us to get the areas repainted.  We were very thankful that they were as flexible and understanding as they were with the bad paint selection that we made on our end.  All of the gaps in the wood trim were caulked and sealed appropriately and the work was completed faster than expected.  My husband and I are Engineers with high expectation for purchased services and Work of Art Painting passed or requirements with flying colors.  I would recommend their services to anyone that requires a painting project.

The initial deal was fine. Ultimately, they came for two more days. The quality of work was generally good. In the end, it wasn’t perfect, but it was better than I could have done myself. I was overall pleased. The way it really works is that they have several teams of the contractors. I didn’t deal with the owner or anything like that. There were different people that showed up each time. I wasn’t that pleased by that. They came in and they did the job. They are good. The big deal price was $399.

The salesperson was very thorough, walking around the house with us to talk over the job, and gave us a quote on the spot. We had a delay between the quote and the actual work because of a family emergency. They were very understanding. When we were ready to proceed, they showed up on time to first power wash the house. They stayed in constant contact and started the job the next week. At the end of each day, we would go over what was to be done the next day. They were very meticulous, and did the job to our satisfaction. We are extremely pleased with their work, and their work ethic! We would highly recommend them, a true pleasure to work with!

Not that well.

First, the scheduler said he'd call me several days before the week the painters would work to schedule an exact day. He never called and the painters showed up unannounced Monday morning.

Second, the deal was for 8 hours of work by two painters. In that time, all they completed was painting the walls of one small living room and priming and painting trim around two small windows and two doors. They didn't even tape around one doorway .

A crew member then left a voicemail offering to come back and finish the job independent of the company. That seemed underhanded. He said if I wanted to continue to work with Work of Art Painting, the cost would be $75/hr. The deal I purchased said the regular price for 8 hours of painting was $800, but that obviously wasn't true; it was actually only $600. So while I still realized some savings by paying $399, it was not the 50% discount advertised.

All in all I feel I was taken advantage of. Not only didn't I get the advertised deal, I didn't get any deal paying $399 for painting a single room.

I made an appointment for 9 am they did not show up until 10:20 am. They did not cover any of my furniture. They sanded the walls and dust got all over everything. The paint is bubbling up and they didnt even finish one room! They did not clean up. They even went as far as to tell me they do not get paid for clean up. They left paint cans sitting on my wooden coffee table and left paint in my sink. I had the owner of the company come out this morning to discuss the issues and he informed me that what I paid is not worth their time because Angie's List takes 35% off the top. I thought that was very inappropriate to bring that up.
Response from Work of Art Painting
"The customer kicked my 2 employees out of his house before we could clean up the job. He did not want to pay more money for more work. 2 guys were there and worked a full day. We called an hour early to let them know we were running late. They complained about the clean up so I drove 45 min out of my way the next morning to clean anything up they had a problem with. I listen to them to find out they just want us to do more work for free. This job is not finished it needs more work to finish which cost more money. The walls where not in good shape it was more than a small amount of wall repair. They did not provide us with primer instead they got paint with primer which made a few problems with walls and made more work."

he was extremely careful.  we just had our kitchen redone and he covered  everything.  he took the doors off and painted, then put them back on.  he cleaned up after he was done and made sure everything was the way we wanted. he went beyond what was standard. i would  use him again with  no qualms.

We initially received a quote that was quite low and decided to hire Work of Art.  After reviewing the quote with our contractor we decided to contact the owner James and get a quote that was fair.  We had a lot of trim with nail holes, paint for walls, ceilings and doors to be stained. We didn't think they understood the scope of the project. Once they got started and I saw the stain color on the doors...it looked awful.  The issue here was two fold;  I believe I didn't pick out a good color, but also they showed me a sample of the stain color on a different tree species.  Stain  doesn't look the same on pine as it does on cherry.  They said they would sand and re-stain the french door, and I had them paint the other doors instead of re-staining.  When James said they were just about done, I told him that the nail holes were not filled.  James agreed to come out and take care of the nail holes and he did so right away.  The french door was cleaned  and look better, but not what I had hoped for. The finish isn't smooth and seems too shiny.  There was also stain and paint got on the floors and I do not recall anyone using a drop cloth. They did clean up most, but there is still stain on the new hardwood.   James asked for my feedback and I told him everything I thought about the job both good and bad.  James is very nice and always responded to my requests and calls right away.  His crew was also very nice.  I think painting is about the details, if they aren't right the project doesn't look professional.

The job took several weeks to allow drying time.
Ceiling sprayed flat black, walls a darkish sand color, and floor epoxy tan.

Looks great -  we did not want a traditional family room with paneled walls that can hold in the humidity. Open architecture ceiling and 36 recessed lights (eventually LED as the original bulbs burn out).

James scheduled the job so it would go smoothly and inspected the work as it was completed.

We are very satisfied with the experience.
