We were purchasing a property built in 1998. I selected Craig Holden to inspect the property based on a acquaintance's recommendation and because he is accredited with ASHI (the American Society of Home Inspectors) and because his fee (which can be determined online at the USINSPECT website) was comparable to others listed on Angie's list and included insect inspection at no additional cost.
Based on my research, I strongly recommend selection of an ASHI accredited inspector (see listings on the ASHI website www.ashi.org).
Craig arrived on time and spent 3 hours inspecting the exterior, roof, interior, attics and crawlspace of the 2800 sqft house, a 1500 sqft pole barn and another out building. He provided a running commentary throughout, explaining his findings and the importance to the integrity of the structure, and recommendations for actions that could be taken. He inspected all appliances, electrical, HVAC and plumbing fixtures. He took pictures of all concern items which were included in the excellent written report provided online the same night as the inspection.
I am confident in the thoroughness and accuracy of the report. We received a significant reduction in the asking price of the house based on the report.
