We were pleased with the professionalism of the crew as well as their clean-up after the job. During the time since the work, we have dealt with leaking in various places along the length of our home, the worst of it being above our porch which in the winter causes ice to build up on the porch creating a slip/fall hazard. It has been a nuisance, at the very least. In the fall of 2013, we had our front porch replaced and all of our windows. While the window installers were completing their work (it had been raining a bit throughout the day), they were under our overhang caulking and asked me if I was aware that we have a number of areas that drip and said that we should have that looked at because in time, it will ruin parts of our front porch where it continually leaks. I agreed and thanked him for his comments. My husband has been very upset about how much we paid for our roof/siding/trim and says we shouldn't have to deal with this already. I hesitated to call Mr. McAllister about it because the work had been done by him almost eight years ago, but then I thought why should we find a different contractor when he was the one who did the work already and eight years doesn't seem that long ago (where roof/siding replacement is concerned). Also, I was hesitant to call him because it was somewhat difficult to get him back to install the shutters, so I expected it would be difficult to get him back for this.
My husband and I have been Angie's List members for about two years now and we find ourselves looking on Angie's List when we want to find a reputable contractor either for ourselves or family. I started going through looking at different roofing and siding contractors and their reviews and just got more annoyed to be looking for someone else. So I decided to pull out our paperwork from the two jobs and called and left a message for Mr. McAllister stating that we had a leaking issue and that we would like him to come take a look at it. He returned my call and I explained to him what was happening. He asked me if he had done the work and I told him that yes he had. He explained that he was working a big job in Oxford and that the weather wasn't looking good for the later part of the week, so he said they'll be finishing up that job and would come take a look at our situation probably by Thursday that week. That was a couple of months ago and we have not heard from him or seen him.
My husband was trying to fix it himself, but doesn't know enough about this type of work to know for sure what he is doing. What he DOES see is that the shingles closest to our gutters are curling up and when running water on the shingles, he could see the water going up under them rather than down the drip edge. Today, he turned to Angie's List to try and find a contractor who knows enough about what to do to correct this for us. During his search, he came across Dan McAllister Home Improvement and I told him that I wanted to leave a review because even though this work took place before Mr. McAllister became an Angie's List member, we are frustrated that we now have to find someone else to pay to come and fix something that isn't working properly.
