Went very smoothly and professional. Worked about 3 hours.

Called Top Hat and lucked out. Burning season was just about underway and sweeping services were very busy. Dan happened to be already working in the area and stopped by between jobs to take a look. I have a three story brick farmhouse and the chimney is not easily accessible but Dan quickly and efficiently got the job done. Highly recommended.

Dan was very professional and helpful. First of all, he returned my call in a timely fashion, and he talked through on the phone what services I would need and which ones he could fit into his schedule right now. We scheduled an appointment for a week later (today). He arrived on time, and put down drop-clothes before doing any work. He answered the questions I had, and several times he answered questions before I had even gotten around to asking them!
After he cleaned the chimney and repaired the damper, he took the time to orient me to the basics of my fireplace and chimney since this is the first time we've had a home with a fire place. The damper worked wonderfully after he fixed it, and the fireplace was much more clean!
We also knew that the outside of the chimney needed some masonry work. Dan explained at our first phone conversation that he would not be able to fit it in to the schedule in the fall, but perhaps could in the spring. After cleaning the chimney, Dan spent some time with me giving me several do-it-yourself options for inexpensively fixing the masonry work. He was willing to come back in the spring, but he wanted me to know there were other options as well.
I appreciated Dan's professionalism, and I will definitely be using him again.

Dan was very thorough, put canvas down around the fireplace to ensure everything stayed clean. Took off his shoes when entering my house. Explained everything to us when he was done as well as provided some recommendations for chimney maintenance.
The best thing, I called yesterday morning(9/16) and he was here today.

He was on time, and knowledgeable. He completely took everything a part that he could to clean. He clean up any mess. Very happy with his work.

Have used Dan in the past and quality of the work has always been very good, even today. This time he was unpleasant on the phone and rude to my wife when onsite doing his work. For a job that takes slightly over one hour I would expect a service provider would not need to smoke at a customer job site. There were many positive aspects, but a lack of professionalism. I will consider using others in the future but would use again if necessary.

Dan does a great job. Price discussed is price charged. I feel confident after he is done that my fireplace is safe to use and is in proper working order. He is prompt...in fact came a bit early....is very professional, completed the work in a timely manner, cleaning up afterwards. Very pleased and will call him again next year.

Contacted Top Hat got estimate, then had to wait for a month or so until the weather was conducive for performing work, which was not a problem at all. As soon as the weather was cooperative , Mr. Machin contacted me, we scheduled the work, and he took it from there. Nice job!

Service technician arrived and was very helpful and informative. This gas fireplace is the first my wife and I have owned so this was an information call for us. The technician cleaned our chimney, verified the structural status of the chimney and spent some time educating my wife and I on safe use.
