The clean up was unexpected and a true worry as a parent with screws and nails left on the back side of the house. The holes in my siding is a true disappointment. Out of 11 final windows/doors, I only have a problem with one but I have tried to get him over here numerous times to realign the window with no avail. The windows are a great, durable brand that make's my home look fresh but you cannot look too close as the hole's in my siding will start to be noticed.
Description of Work: I have seen some of Mike's other work and felt more then comfortable with him. I had 12 windows taken out and replaced as well as a front & sliding door. The assistant Mike had with him took my siding off and when it was put back up, I noticed MANY holes is it all around the house. The siding was 12 yrs old BUT I could understand cracks more than actual holes! The nails and screws were left all on the ground (where the assistant worked) for us to find at a later date, and it was my 7 yr old that found them! One bedroom window still does not close with a complete seal and I have contacted him many times. We will have to take it out and re install it ourselves. The positive is that Mike showed us how to save some money by reframing and trimming the bedroom windows ourselves. He took out 6 windows in our living/dining room and put in 3 large gorgeous windows that I still love! He framed those and the doors in himself and I am very appreciative for the great views.

Mike always arrived on time and was quite pleasant each day. Given the fact that I am female, and live alone, I trusted Mike to make all, if not most, of the contracting decisions and relied on the fact that he was a licensed contractor to 'do the right thing' with the construction of the new rooms in the basement area. However, the following took place: no construction permit was applied for with the city no plumbing permit was applied for with the state of Michigan no electrical permit was applied for with the state of Michigan and NO electrical inspection was conducted by the state before the walls were put into place thus hiding the work performed and not allowing for access if errors occurred plans were altered which should have resulted in a reduced construction cost (one door eliminated, I purchased all ceiling lights and fixtures and door handles); however, I received no refund or rebate from LeClerc ALL of the electrical work performed in the new areas was tied directly into the first floor of my home and put on the same breaker which results in constant breaker tripping. As well, all large appliances on the first floor and in the family room have had to be serviced numerous times due to melting wires and surges in power Mike was made aware of all of the above issues. Initially he came to my home with the electrician who performed the shoddy work and said that he would correct the electrical errors that were not done according to proper code. However, that was the last I saw of him. I have tried to contact him numerous times via phone and certified mail (the last in March of 2011) but he has refused to address the electrical hazards and makes no effort to help me with what may be a monumental expense to make my home safe from fire and bring the electrical work up to code. Mike, as a licensed Michigan contractor, knew that he should have applied for the proper permits but did not do so. As a result, he has exposed me to the possibility of losing my home to a fire as well as losing my life. If you wonder why I didn't see to these issues sooner, I had no idea that permits needed to be issued or how the electrical work was to be performed or the hazard the poor work would cause. I was told about the problems when people from my local Community Action Agency were in my home on an unrelated matter and brought these omissions to light when I asked for their advice about my electrical problems.
Description of Work: Contractor, Mike LeClerc came to my home and measured my basement to formulate his estimate of costs. I wanted a complete 'do over' to make the space into a living area that was carpeted, new windows, laundry area and storage area. Mike framed in my basement, put insulation between the new walls and the rock wall, put in new sliding basement windows, rebuilt steps going from home entry into basement, painted walls and oversaw the electrical and plumbing work that needed to be done. I ended up with a family room, utility room and laundry area as well as a small storage area under the steps coming downstairs.
