Mike was very quick to come for an estimate and begin the work. They tore the ceiling from the bottom of the stairs and reinforced each stair with glue, nails, wood, etc. His team did a wonderful job and the stairs feel very solid and don’t make a sound at all. They replaced the drywall, mudded and repainted the ceiling underneath as well. They perfectly closed the gap at the back door too and haven’t heard any birds or critters since.

He did a good job. We asked him to do some specific things. He had had some excellent suggestions of which we chose not to do.

They did a very nice job. I like the fact that they were on time and didn’t leave any mess for me to clean up. They did everything that I wanted them to do and did good work. The prices were reasonable.

Responsive to initial high priority needs. Identified other items I hadn't noticed and recommended reasonably priced repairs. Flexible to work with me despite my challenging work schedule. Admitted that he didn't have plumbing skills and aligned with someone for that part of the job, however he was admittedly not familiar with plumbing in newer homes. (I have more recently identified someone better for plumbing assistance.)

They were excellent and the repairs have held up well. They looked around and fixed any other downspout problems that I had.

I initially hired Seaver Home Maintenance to paint one room in my home. The price was fair. A great deal of time was spent prepping the walls and ceilings. The job was very good. I then signed on for Seaver Home Maintenance to paint several more rooms and exterior doors. Progressively, the work became sloppier and less prepping was done. My ceilings in the bathrooms were painted the same color as the walls, a specific of "white ceilings" having been told to Mr. Seaver several times. Painting was done over poorly prepped walls and it showed. Mr. Seaver's crew had to redo a lot of work. The crew became more sporadic in coming to my home. Mr. Seaver yelled at me when I pointed out some work in the bathroom. The topper: Mr. Seaver urinated in my backyard, in broad daylight, with several neighbors' homes getting a view of this spectacle. One neighbor called the police and Mr. Seaver received a ticket for public urination. I told Mr. Seaver I didn't want his company completing the other rooms or even what he had in unfinished stages. It was testy with Mr. Seaver in negotiating an end to his contract. I basically gave in on what I thought was a fair price because I just wanted him out. This was a very bad experience. UPDATE: To correct a few things: I retracted the scratches on the refrigerator before Mike had even seen them. I had immediately realized it was plaster dust and told him this the minute he came to my house to check on other issues. I didn't laugh off the puiblic urination. I was uncomfortable when asking Mike which crew member did this and when he told me it was him I asked him why he did this when there were usable bathrooms in the house. My laughter was a nervous one, not knowing what to say. My neighbor is a griper, but that is not the issue here. The police ticket verifies that. If Mike would like to come over and look at the work he did, especially the painting over chipped paint in several areas, he is welcome. He can look at the paint on the floors and on the baseboards and on the bathroom fixtures. Also, the locks on the front door do not work. He can check that out as well. Yes, I left it amicably. I do not enjoy confrontation. However, I do think that other customers should be aware of the work that was done at my home.
Response from SEAVERS HOME MAINTENANCE
"I've got to respond to this. I thought the member and I parted company with at least a fair settlement, if not with good will. I've been contracting for 30 years and always respect my customers and their property. I don't yell at my customers, ever. There were some misunderstandings and some changes as I went along, which I good-naturedly accommodated her on. At one point, the member wrongly accused me of scratching her refrigerator. Again, I have to take these things in stride and work with the customer in a good-natured, positive way. To me, the customer gets benefit of the doubt and all accommodation and respect. As for what her neighbor thinks she saw, when I told her about this incident, she told me the complaining neighbor was a general complainer in the neighborhood and a problem that way, and laughed it off. I hope the member does well with her projects on her home, and wish her no ill will."

Mike Seaver came out and gave me a reasonable estimate and provided references and proof of insurance. The painters were pleasant to deal with and cleaned up every evening before leaving. After the work was started I added a few extra incidentals like moving a downspout and checking for any wood that might need to be replaced. Mike and his crew were very accommodating and thorough. The work was estimated to take 3-4 weeks and was completed in 2 weeks. I am extremely pleased and happy with the excellent job they did.

Mr. Seaver was prompt, responsive and honest. I asked him to estimate a roof replacement and he told me the roof didn't need replacing -- only minor trim repairs were needed. He is knowledgeable, and willing to do a wide variety of jobs. All work was achieved quickly and to a high standard of quality.

Came out and gave me an estimate for various winterizing projects (listed above). Prices seemed reasonable; some things were per job, others like the doors and windows he said would be by the hour at $35 an hour. The work took 2 days to complete, he was later then promised on both days, he did call to say he would be coming later, but that's why a B for punctuality. I was up and waiting, he wasn't here. He brought 3 helpers that seemed to know what they were doing. They worked fast and got everything done. I liked that they had a wide range of skills to work on multiple projects and that I didn't have to hire specialists for each thing. The workers were moving between projects though, both hourly and per job. I realized later that was going to make tracking the hourly projects difficult. Should either do all hourly, all per job, or keep one guy on one project. Just an FYI. However, they did plug the worst air leaks; my house is a bit warmer, my front door closes better, and best of all my front patio windows all close now. I would hire again but would be a bit clearer up front on pricing and how to track hours and I would monitor clean up better. Clean up was a bit lax; I had to do a lot of vacuuming and found debris in odd spots. The outside project I neglected to inspect as well as I should have. It was dark and cold by the time they finished. It looks a bit messy and they left dirt clumps and other debris around. Minor things, all in all a good job, though.

He specializes in smaller jobs. I've used him eight to ten times in the past and he always does a good job. He's prompt, quick, and cooperative. Some people might find the price a bit high, but I find him to be worth the money.

I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY SINCE THE LATE 70'S OR 80'S. HE HAS ALWAYS DONE GOOD WORK FOR ME. HIS PRICES ARE ALSO REASONABLE. IF HE CANNOT DO A CERTAIN JOB, HE WILL TELL YOU. HE ALSO WILL REFER YOU TO SOMEONE WHO CAN.
