Had a plumber come out one day to eliminate a water leak, he was here 1 hour. Two days later another plumber came out to install a new shower valve and shut off valves on my sinks, he was here 3 hours. For the two days the plumbers spent a total of 4 hours here. When I went to pay my bill, I told them that they needed to correct the bill first as I was being billed for 8 hours. They said the 8 hours included travel time which I don’t believe is right, plus they charged mileage ! I told the guy in the office that travel time from their office to my home and back is at most a half hour and about 2 hours total for both days. The guy in the office pulled out his phone and opened up the mapping program and measured the travel time and multiplied it times 4 and got an hour and a half, half less than I said. I told him to add that hour and half to the 4 hours the plumbers were at my home and he got 5 and a half hours. That was 2 and a half hours less than they were billing me for. The boss must have been standing off to the side of the office window because I saw a hand reach out and grab the folder then I heard him say “Take off a half hour, the rest stands”. So I had to pay for 2 hours ( $ 240 ) where nothing happened for my job. I wonder if the next jobs got billed for the same 2 hours ?? Very dishonest, I would never hire them even if they were the only plumber in the state.

They won't give a written estimate..stated "about" then bill double that amount. Should just be honest and upfront. Extremely rude after the fact.

I called on the phone and was transferred 3 times, then left on hold. I then sent them two messages through their website and I never got a single response. Stay away from this company if you want a company that communicates.

It took three trips to get it right and after that it still leaked.  When asked to come and check it they wanted to charge me again! They said it was a "BAD FLOOR", that is why the toilet leaked down the drain pipe into my basement.  They told me to call a builder and once the floor was fixed they would come back and re-install the toilet.  So I called a builder and they came, at an extra cost and took the toilet off and found that the installer had not secured it to the floor with the bolts to the flange.!!!!  They re-installed the commode and that was three months ago, and it has not leaked since then.  The builder said the floor was fine, it was an amateurish install. I WILL NEVER CAL THEM FOR ANY WORK AGAIN!!!!

"[Member name removed], The work order states that the main shut off for your water had to be repaired at the street and re-piped inside the home, a lav pop up was replaced and the toilet was installed - it is noted on the work order that the floor needed repair. (with your signature) If you are still having a problem please call the office."

They charged me $629 just for the installation of a Bradford White Defender water heater that was free under warranty when they quoted me between $300 and $400 (which is already high). Their justification was that I didn't have to pay for the water heater so it still cost less than buying a new one. Part of the charge was $150 for an hour and a half that the plumber was not even at our house. Another $30 was for filling out a warranty form that took them 2 minutes. At first they told me the water heater was no longer under warranty, I had to get a hold of Bradford White and find out for myself that it was. Then I had to call Remer back and convince them it was still warrantied and give them the number of the Bradford White warranty department so they could verify. Apparently they didn't even bother to check to see if it was still under warranty. On top of all of this, I had to go get an $85 permit that they didn't get and were going to charge me an additional $150 for. I called them twice trying to resolve this and both times they were condescending and rude in their description of the charges and would not budge. This experience was terrible and I will never spend another penny at this company.

"[member's name removed] is a little bit off on his facts about his labor charge. When we received his call for warranty he did not have all the pertinent information to call my supplier for warranty information. He was not the original purchaser of the heater nor did he have it installed himself. On his second call he had the correct info for me to make a call to my supplier, at this point warranty was denied because of expiration of the 6 year warranty period. He was informed we could not provide a warranty replacement. [member's name removed] then called Bradford White Corporation and after speaking with them they allowed a 3 month extension for shelf life for his heater. We were then able to help him with warranty replacement. He was not charged for all this phone time and documentation time. I estimated 3-4 hundred dollars for replacement was for labor time and not the complete job. It did not include material to bring the install up to the current code, delivery and handling cost and warranty documentation handling cost. It did not include labor time to verify that the tank was indeed a leaker. His heater was replaced under the manufacturer’s warranty even though he never purchased it in the first place. His bill for labor was $450.00 Material and code update $134.80 Delivery and haul charge $35.00 Tax $8.09 Total for free water heater install $627.89 We did what we were hired to do. He knew there would be costs not covered under warranty. Dave Remer"

My furnace wasn't fixed.  The technician was inexperienced.  It took him 3 1/2 hours to do the job, which was never even done properly.  We had someone else from a different company come to finish the job, and it took much less time and the cost difference was substantial.

We contacted a local plumber to look at our Rinnai on demand hot water heater and he could not repair it so he called upon Remer who is supposed to be certified in Rinnai systems. When I asked Remer how much it would cost me to repair the unit they told me they would evaluate it (which they did but were not able to fix it) so they said it should be covered under warranty but informed me they would have to make three repair attempts to fix the unit before they could request a replacement. After being without hot water for over a week and a half (with children) I took it upon myself to contact Rinnaii directly and they had me approved for a new unit the same day! I believe Remer was just trying to build up billable hours as they later tried to send me a bill for almost $700 and the unit was covered under warranty! If a unit is under warranty then a contractor should not try to gain additional money because of their own inability to diagnose the problem! Additionally, they tried to charge me for transportation / trip charges every time they came out even without my consent! I paid them $250 initially then and quot;monthsand quot; later they sent me another bill for hundreds of dollars more!! (WHO DOES THAT?) When I called to inquire I was treated rudely so I requested an itemized bill which consisted of virtually nothing useful! I really should have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and fought this at small claims court! I would not recommend this contractor and suggest anyone needing plumbing work done to check reviews first!

Remer originally contracted to replace HVAC due to it's age . Did not do an analysis of heating/cooling load but put in an equivalent sized unit as was previously installed. Once installed, owners both senior citizens, did not understand, nor could use, a programmable thermostat unit. Service Rep replaced thermostat with non-programmable unit. Unit did not, throughout the cooling season, cool. Repeated attempts to fix the new unit were met with an occasional visit by service rep with no improvement in any cooling but billed us. Remer then indicated the cooling problem was related to our room addition and convinced us that a mini-split would be needed in the addition. Remer quoted a Mitsubshi unit but installed another unit. Following that Remer remodeled the bathroom for handicap access based on husbands medical issues. In early 2012 husband passed away and family members came to help out. AC unit still was not working and any attempt to use only resulted in inside temperature rising, not cooling. Remer rep came out, checked the unit, saying it was ok but users did not know how to use it, requiring it to run 24/7 to cool the house. Week later rep came out, added refrigerant saying it was low. Unit still would not cool. Repeated attempts to get Remer to service the unit were met with statements of "we can't fix it if it isn't broken". Being frustrated we contacted another HVAC company in the area to check the unit out. Found out that Remer did not install the unit correctly, internal control wiring, which the other company fixed in a matter of minutes. The unit is now operating correctly, cooling as it should. Remer assumed it was operator error blaming the homeowners when it was Remers lack of quality. Forcing the homeowners into adding the mini-split was a financial gain for Remer but not needed if Remer would have correctly installed the whole house unit. Plus the mini-split cost was over twice competative pricing. Remer takes advantage of senior citizens in our opinion. Bathroom shower leaked but Remer service returned and caulked. Based on our experience we will never use Remers again and believe they are not there for their customers needs.

Overall, the install took about 2 1/2 days. He came around 9 a.m. and left around 3 or 4 each day, except the third day when he was done by noon.

My only issue was he left the gate open while going to the backyard a/c unit and my dogs escaped the yard. It's not the first time it's happened, but it causes me a great deal on anxiety when it does. The dogs returned from their adventure safely as I drove around the subdivision in a panic looking for them.

At the end, there was some water on the floor, possibly from the humidifier install? I'm not sure, but the installer found a mop and bucket in the basement and cleaned up the water.

The furnace area and a/c were left in excellent condition.

I haven't used them for heating but I've used them for plumbing. I've used them many times. When I have plumbing work to be done, that's who I call. One time I had them replace the whole bathroom. They come out promptly and they do quality work as far as I'm concerned.

We have lived in this house for five years and was told previous owners, always had problems with the sink drain, in the bathroom. We were able to keep it open, but this last time, everything we tried did not work. When the workman arrived, it did not take him long to get through the clogged pipe and put the new drain trap on the sink. My husband and I were very satisfied with his work and highly recommend the company.
