GARPIEL LANDSCAPING

Very unsatisfactory. We have had Garpiel fertilizing our lawn for many years, but our lawn never looked great. They recommended that we reseed due to the poor quality of our grass. We had the old lawn killed, new topsoil installed and then reseeded around the 3rd week in September. They waited a full beautiful dry week after preparing the new topsoil to install the hydro mulch. We were not given a reason for this delay. They finally came back on a Friday and put down the hydro mulch. They did not put down any straw on top. That weekend we had severe rains and over half of the seed and topsoil washed into the sidewalk and street. We called them right away and they never came back out. We purchased some straw mats for the worst areas on our own and put them down. About 3 or 4 weeks later, we came home to find someone had sprayed hydro mulch OVER the straw mats we had put down in a small area. Nothing else was done to the rest of the front and back lawn. No one ever came out to meet with us or discuss what they were going to do. After repeated phone calls, the receptionist told me that we would just have to wait until spring and they would “work really **** ** it” then. In the meantime, I had a yard that was mostly mud and could not let my dog out in the back yard because of this. I feel if they had seeded the lawn and put down hay right away instead of waiting a week and then seeding right before a rainstorm things would have turned out a lot better. We were also disappointed in the lack of customer service and communication. We spent about $5,000.00 only to see it mostly wash away. I would say we have about 50% grass in our lawn right now. We are having another company that is more responsive to customers take over our lawn this year.

Although they ran into many difficult obstacles based upon previous work, they met each challenge and solved the prolems, leading to our beautiful landscaping package!

I made appointments with three different companies to get an idea of how much it would cost to remove the stumps from our backyard, remove some welded fencing that had been buried (likely to keep dog from digging holes) and to regrade and put down grass seed. By far, Garpiels was the best, most professional and actually took the time to walk around the yard with me, talking with me about what different things they could do and got a complete scope of what I wanted done.
I didn't even get responses from one company about the work, and the other company that did send me an invoice spent maybe 5 minutes with me, talked down to me about my suggestions and wants, and just overall left a bad taste. I wasn't looking forward to having another contractor out, but Garpiels just blew away their competition. I knew the moment our meeting was done that I was going to go with them, just based on their customer service.
They arrived in the morning with their equipment and got to work right away. The workers were quiet, didn't make any requests of me, and really left the area looking better than what they came in on. By noon, most of the yard was pulled up, they were just spreading dirt and making it more even for a while. Several times different people stopped by, and I believe the owner even came out to check on the work, found a few low spots, and kept the guys going until nearly six that night. They cleaned up the driveway very well, everything looks very nice (except my flowers that got trampled, but they were in the way to get equipment into the backyard, I knew we'd probably have to replant there). They should be seeding the lawn soon, and I suspect it will be just as good as the work that went in to fixing the yard.

I couldn't have asked for more. I was thrilled with the way it turned out. Kevin is very knowledgeable and helped us make wise decisions. My husband really wanted a special area for his horseshoe pit and they worked it in perfectly. Kevin was always available by phone to answer questions.
