Poor quality of materials, poor workmanship, and questionable judgement. The counter top is bowed in both directions like a banana! It came right from the factory this way, and I know this because I watched the guy unload it from the truck and it was the most bent out of shape counter top I've ever seen. Despite this, they went ahead and installed it anyway. Maybe they didn't think I would notice? Brackets on the base cabinets (my brand new base cabinets) were pull away, and even broken off when they tried to draw the counter down. Also noting that the silicon caulk they used around the back splash turns pink, which looks terrible with the white counter. There is also an issue with the sink installation. They did the sink cut out, but left the sink sitting on the living room floor. I had to drop the 120 lb cast iron sink in by myself, and there is also no sealant around the edge, which allows water to run down into the cabinet. So, I filed a warranty claim with the Home Depot, and I was contacted by a representative from Bonenfant to schedule an "inspection". Much to my disappointment, the guys that showed up for this "inspection" were the same two guys that did the installation. Clearly they believe that there is no issue, because they are the ones that created the problem to begin with. One of them tried to convince me that the bowing probably happened after their installation, but that's not the case. I could see the bend before they even got the counter top in the house, and they are the ones that damaged the base cabinet brackets. I was filling out warranty forms and taking pictures within an hour after their initial installation. The installers said that the way to correct this problem is to add more screws through the frame of the base cabinets in order to draw the counter top down more. I'm not sure if this is the preferred method according to the manufacturer of the base cabinets, but I gave them a chance to try it out, and I'm not even sure why. The end result is that it's about 50% better than before, but overall still unacceptable. The counter is not flat. Plates and bowls rattle around on the surface and it's driving me nuts. I also asked them to fix the pink caulk issue. They re-caulked some of it, but there is still a lot of pink caulk remaining. I also asked them to seal around the sink because they missed it last time. They declined to seal around the sink, stating that its not part of their installation. Probably for the best, since the whole counter top is going to be ripped out and thrown away soon anyway. I will be returning to the Home Depot tomorrow morning to file a second warranty claim. This time I will be asking the Home Depot to either replace the counter top, and refund me the cost of the installation, or if that is not an option, I will ask for a full refund. I'm either going to have to hire someone else, or do the work myself. I'm about four months into this counter top project and still at square one. I still have a junk counter top that needs to be ripped out and replaced. All the time I've spent so far is wasted.
