Kemerick Construction, LLC.

In June, 2015, I gave the owner of Kemerick Construction a $400 deposit to install french doors in my home. On September
22, 2015, he cancelled the job and agreed to refund my deposit. However,it has been almost 2 months and he has not refunded my deposit, never returned my phone call, never responded to my emails, and never returned my text messages. I hope he
keeps his word and refunds my deposit as soon as possible. I expect, however, that I am the victim of a fraudulent contractor.

Kemerick Construction was fantastic from start to finish.  I called them after finding thier company on Google and unlike many of the other contractors that I called, he was prompt in coming out, getting me a quote, as well as being extremely personable and pleasant to work with.   He quoted a very fair price and did not sacrifice service or quality.  He showed up when he said he would got the job done in the timeframe quoted, and truly impressed me in every way.  His crew cleaned up regularly during the job as well as at the end of everyday.  They were courteous and professional.  I will absolutely use them again and am thrilled to have a contractor that I can count on. 

I provided Keith with a check for $9000 in February to purchase my hardwood floors for $3000 from his wholesale company and for labor costs to get the job started.  The job did not start until May 9 which was a week after the cabinets arrived to my house.  For the past three months him and his one or three man crew never worked an entire week straight.  They never told me when they were coming and for how long. Most of the time it was half days worth of work.  The first thing they did was drywall the basement area that had got wet due to water damage and paint the basement and ceiling walls.  There was not any prep work done to the walls and only one coat of paint was put on. You could tell this because the corners were not blended and the lines between the ceiling and the walls was not straight. It was very sloppy work. Then they removed my existing hardwood floors and installed the new ones.  There are parts of my floor that are not level and they did not level them before putting the new floors down.  There is also a lot of dust that has accumulated in the grooves of the hardwood floors due to not cleaning them properly and right away and not covering them during the installation of my cabinets.  This could potentially ruin my new floors if the dust cannot get out. They also have not installed my heating vents in the floors and it took them 2 months to install 2 transitions. One is still not in.  Then they started installing the cabinets. I asked for my walls to be fully prepped, holes filled, screws removed, areas requiring sanding sanded, etc  before painting but this was not done.  He then started to install the upper cabinets and realized after installing 5 of them that they were not in the correct spot.  So he had to take them down and reinstall them. At this point I asked him to repaint the entire walls before any cabinets went up but again he did not do as I asked and installed cabinets onto walls that were not properly prepped and painted sufficiently.  I then noticed that the cabinet above the refrigerator was not centered and that the sink valves were not replaced and thus leaking into the sink cabinet. These valves caused the problem in the first place. So I had to order a new sink cabinet. The caulking around the cabinets is also very sloppy.  I gave him the opportunity to fix everything and make it all right. He said he would come  back after the new cabinet came in. The cabinet came in on May 27th. He said could not make it this week but promised to be here first thing Monday, June 2. He called that morning and said he could not make it. That is when I fired him and will be asking for a refund of my money. I now have to hire someone new to fix his mistakes and finish the job.
Do not hire this company. They are completely unreliable and he has cheap labor helping him,  His painter didn't even know how to paint.  He is actually a friend of mine so I am thoroughly disappointed and hope no one has to go through what I have for the past 6 months. He took advantage of me because I am a single mom and had no one else to consult with at the time.  I trusted him completely.  He also took too much money upfront. I found out I should have only given him 20 percent up front. I never want anyone to live through what I have had to with 2 kids.

June 11, 2013 Received quote for work.
June 13, 2013 Email from them said they would touch base with me in two weeks.
July 13, 2013 One month has passed and not a word from them so I sent them an email.
July 15, 2013 They emailed back saying they plan on completing my job sometime in the next 2 weeks.  They will try to give me a 
specific date this week.
July 31, 2013 Over two weeks have passed and I have not heard a word from them.  I called and left a message.
August 1, 2013 Received no call back so called again and they answered saying they were just about to call me.  Yeah right.
They clearly do not need the work and instead of being honest and saying so, they wasted my time.  TIme that I could have spent looking for another contractor or having the work completed.
