Clock Repair
I have a beautiful Chelsea ship's clock that belonged originally to my grandfather. Somehow it fell off of the table it was sitting on! When it fell the metal rim around the face was bent. The hands couldn't turn because of the bent rim and the door wouldn't close. It sat on a shelf for almost a year because I didn't know of a reputable clock repair shop.

I was driving down Catalpa in Royal Oak one Saturday on errands and saw a green awning with the word "Clocks" printed on it in a small row of shops. I went in to check it out. The shop is full of beautiful clocks of all types, from Grandfather clocks down. I thought this would be the place to bring my Chelsea ship's clock. The gentleman, who was the owner of the shop, behind the counter sounded very familiar with this type of clock. I brought back my clock that afternoon.

The owner examined the clock, wasn't sure he could bend the metal rim without breaking the metal. He would only work on the clock if he could do a complete overhall and wouldn't know exactly how much it would be and gave me an estimate of $300.00. I left the clock, thinking it was worth the cost because of the sentimental as well as monetary value of the clock.

Within a week, Mr. Stewart called and said he was able to bend the rim so the hands could turn. He had repaired the clock but wanted to make sure it was keeping accurate time, so he wanted to keep it for a few more days.

I picked up my clock a few days later and was thrilled. It looked like new! It's been keeping excellent time since then and the tone of the bell was adjusted to a much more pleasant tone! The price stayed at the estimate even though it sounded like Mr. Stewart
