 + 0 moreGary repaired two pocket doors in our home that were sticking or falling off the rails. He replaced the track system in both, and was able to do so without affecting our walls. We had been putting off these repairs for a long time due to our understanding that most carpenters would take down a wall to replace a track, so it was a huge relief when we found Gary and learned that he could do this seamlessly!

 + 0 moreCalled Mr. Nothaft for a quote to build new decking over two bay windows. I explained that both windows are leaking and the repair is urgent. He came out to my house and took measurements on Wed, Jul 30. We spoke over the phone and he said he would give me a quote by the weekend. It is now a week later and I have not heard back from him despite leaving many messages. He understood the urgent nature of my request and if he is either not interested in the work or unable to provide a quote he should not have agreed to provide it - and at a minimum he should have not left me hanging with no follow up communication whatsoever. I cannot recommend this company.

 + 0 moreHe was great! Gary really bent over backwards and wanted to be sure we were 100% satisfied. He fixed a lot of little problems plus the major renovation in our basement. You don't find hardly any contractors like Gary. I highly recommend them.

 + 0 moreWe are very satisfied with the work and he did some additional work for us that we are also happy with. He did everything we wanted him to do and we were very happy about it. The only thing was we had to wait a bit because he was very busy but it was worth it, we didn't mind waiting at all. Even on the work he allowed us to change our mind and he was flexible. I would recommend him to anybody. He was very reasonable.
Description of Work: He put in closet space along one wall that was about 12 feet long.

 + 0 moreOwner came to our house, job was discussed, he was very friendly and helpful, seemed to be very professional and mailed an estimate. I called him to discuss possibility of me providing some of the materials for job. When I tried to contact him a few days later, someone answered the phone and when I identified myself, they hung up. Just to be sure I called the right number, I called back 2 different numbers I had for him and left a voice mail on each. I never got a response.

Description of Work: We live in an old Grosse Pointe home with a custom wooden front door that had really taken a beating from the sun and weather over the years. We didn't want to spend several thousand dollars on a new custom door, so I found two service people on Angie's list. One was a painter/refinisher named Ed Malaga who found a way to refinish the door and did an absolutely beautiful job. He recommended Gary Nothaft to build us a storm door to help protect the wooden door. There were several things that impressed me about Mr. Nothaft. He always called me back, politely and punctually. In fact, he actually called me several months after he originally built our storm door to remind us to change to a screen door for summer to avoid baking our newly refinished wooden door with the heat from the glass. There was no further work for him or profit for him to make. He called to remind me in order to care for the work he and Mr. Malaga had done the previous fall. Unbelievable and very impressive. I would hire him again in an instant.
