Backus Builders

1. Garage well done except trim on side entry door is warped and separated from frame. 2. Roof subcontractor did an excellent job. 3. Storm door installation and trim needed to be completely redone by another contractor as a cost to us of $800.00. Entry door installations required additional sill support to properly complete installation. 4. Master bath remodel was a complete failure in every respect that you can think of. Simply stated an abject failure to perform and the Builder ultimately abandoned the project after having been paid 94% of the contract leaving us to repair pocket doors, finish trim, repair a cracked air bubble tub and on and on and on. 5. Communications were untimely, incomplete and unprofessional. 6. Project management was a complete failure. The contract stated 60 days and it took them 180 days to do an incomplete job. 7. Subcontractors informed us that they had not been paid and asked us if we had paid the Builder. We informed them we paid in full as invoiced and in a timely manner. We held back 6% of the contract and have used the reserve plus additional monies to complete the mess they left us with. 8. Builder posted pictures of work on our home on their Facebook page without our permission and went on to claim what a fine job they did. Visible in the photos was the absence of electrical outlets covers, absence of HVAC outlet vent covers, pocket doors that hang crooked, no shower enclosure, no fixtures for towels and so on. 9. In the midst of the bath remodel they informed us that they would not install shower splash panels and glass enclosure forcing us to retain the services of other contractors at the last minute at additional cost to us. Backus Builders is not qualified to lead as project management, provide competent design guidance or finish carpentry of any kind. Rough carpentry, yes....everything else, no!
