The worst possible moving experience. After signing the contract based off of promises and timelines this company completely disregarded any verbal confirmation and then would dismiss, redirect, lie, omit, avoid, and become aggressive. This treatment continues repeatedly and if there’s a response to this review it will more than likely be more of the same and a great look into what you will be dealing with if you hire them. Aside from never being on time, ability to follow directions, deliveries weeks later than promised and a complete lack of coordination; if you call with a question or concern you are met with aggression and gaslighting. For example you will call with a concern only to be told I’m not dealing with you. Then you’re transferred to customer service without asking. You will be waiting for a resolution that will never come. Moving is stressful and this kind treatment is unacceptable especially to a disabled female veteran. When I was dealing with Sonia from customer service and informed her of this she ultimately condoned this kind of treatment and defended it. She told me she and the manager did not see anything wrong with this. All this which I have proof and they could not produce any on their end. They wouldn’t even apologize. This is truly what they must think of customers and also veterans. These are facts of which can be proven as well everything in this review. Next they require two payments one upon pickup and one upon delivery. They give estimates for these. Before pick up or drop off they give a final price different from the estimate to be paid. This is expected and normal. Days later they call and ask for more money in an unexplained charge along with a threat to withhold property if not paid because it’s their policy. Upon asking to explain these charges they couldn’t so they waited until final drop off to charge the final drop off price plus the unexplained charges on top of that price and again threatened to withhold property unless paid. After explaining to customer service (Sonia)this problem she informs me they do not give customers invoices or billing statements unless requested. When I requested them I learned they actually only produce the invoice that day when requested and could not produce any record of charges at the time they were requested to be paid. When told this is concerning because it leaves room to manipulate and charge however they want during a move and withhold property without any proof these charges are legitimate. Again their stance is this business model is completely acceptable and we promise we don’t do that. Unbelievable. So they produce an invoice weeks after the move was completed with no acceptable legitimacy. Also, Morse moving was told not to use old moving boxes located on property filled with mouse feces and spider eggs. They used them anyway and charged for them (as if they were new boxes they provided) according to the invoice they made weeks after payments were received. Again, Sonia and management find this acceptable. I can only assume this family thinks less than nothing of their customers, veterans, laws or accountability and seem to operate in a grey area. They cannot produce a single legitimate piece of evidence about any of these problems. Only that they don’t see a problem. I have to think there’s a reason for such vague evasive business practices and I don’t think it’s a good one. Also, I have email correspondence and records of service so they cannot say they have no record of this move.

Morse Moving went above and beyond my expectations as far as a moving company goes. I have had many bad experiences with other companies. They were very professional, polite, and got the job done in a great amount of time. It was snowing (blizzarding) out and they did not complain one time. When I had a problem with an item 4 months later, they took care of me, even then! I HIGHLY recommend them and will never use another moving company---ever. The three men were very professional. One of the guys didn't even want to stop for lunch he kept working and eating at the same time. I found that the customer service was very reliable. They want above and beyond to rectify a problem I had.

The crew was very unprofessional after day 1 of a 3 day packing ordeal. Second day they did not show up until 6:00 pm (they were be there by 7:00 AM) because the crew decided to go out partying the night before. Often found them sleeping in the lower level family room, playing games and smoking in the front cab of their truck. Did not bring sufficient packing materials and furniture blankets, resulting in $1,000++ of dollars in damage. Left many items in the home that we packed and moved. Later, we learned, when they moved household goods from truck to storage containers for storage, things were basically "thrown in" as stated by the mover who picked up our furniture for our final move to South Carolina. Currently, we are in discussions on all the numerous repairs to heirloom furniture, broken or crushed items. We have moved over 14 times and this is by far the WORSE experience.

As we get older and we have to move for my husbands job we have been useing companies to move us. By far the only company we would use again would be the Allied Van Lines. They brought a lot of help with them and they finished packing for me and loaded everything up in such a way that not one piece of furniture was marked, the pictures and mirrors were in one piece. As we had had a bad time with the last moving company we were amazed at how fast but careful these guys were. We will move them again to move us anywhere!

It went very well. The team arrived right on time. There was a lot of confusion that day because we were originally moving our belongings to 3 different places and boxes were labeled as such. We ended up moving our things to 2 places over the course of 2 days. Things went smoothly despite the confusion and we couldn't be more impressed with Jesse and crew. We will hire them for our next move later this year.

The team did a great job of getting my household packed and moved. I had just started a new job and wasn't able to unpack everything in 30 days to inspect it. I have damaged goods--some had to be thrown away--some of the packing was careless. Stereo unit broken due to poor packing. Refrigerator freezer drawer glides broke away from their tracks--repair estimate of $374. I paid to have appliances hooked up and the refrigerator technician found a faulty water line hookup all taped up--this too has to be replaced with expense to me. Carelessness and damage such as this was not evidient immediately. When I called Morris Moving offices a couple of months afterward, I got ."sorry this is not coveredf if not claimed within 30 days."

1) The estimate was emailed to me by the Move Consultant at the end of August, 2011. It included 2 documents: a shipper inventory and an estimate. He asked for an approval by phone, which I gave. Both documents required a signature and I was not asked to sign either one. Furthermore, I was never informed about the different kinds of damage insurance that they offer. Both documents legally require my signature.
2) On moving day, 3 young men arrived, who were immediately rude to me. Not rude enough to dismiss, but definitely disrespectful. This company advertises and emails that all of their staff has 14 years experience and are trained by superiors. If these guys started 14 year ago, they were on this job in elementary school.
3) The movers stated that there was a wasp nest near my front door and did I have any insect spray? I went out to find some at about 10 am. When I returned around 11:30, I entered my second bedroom and found the door taken off of my safe. I had stored expensive jewelry (appraised and insured) in that safe and made sure it was all locked away the night before. The safe was entered without my knowledge when I was out of the house. I put the door back on and closed it. Either I had neglected to spin the dial after closing it the prior evening - or they picked the key lock. And the keys are now missing. I also store ID in the safe that could be used in ID theft.
4) My new (purchased in June, 2011) Sealy foam mattress was flipped over a rusty metal balcony to remove it from my home. This resulted in a sizable rip on the underside of the mattress and dirty handprints on the mattress and box spring.
5) After moving into my residence, I found two sizable rips on the underside of my couch cushion. That is a custom order sofa.
6) The movers took my day planner and packed it. When I asked where, right after I noticed it was missing, they claimed that they had no knowledge of it. I called management, who seemed very concerned at the time. I later found that it was packed with my kitchen items.
7) I emailed management with a picture of the mattress rip and they send back a claim form, asking me to send it in. When I did, they denied the claim based on a 10 day limit to submit claims. The person I worked with was the Claims Manager and had all of my paperwork in her possession. A time limit is not printed on either document I received before the move. The movers show the client damages they find and document them. Neither of the damages I submitted were noted by the movers and both are obvious.
8) The movers had me sign a Bill of Lading and credit card approval forms at the end of the move. I received a copy of neither document. There are questionable charges on the Bill of Lading that do not match the amount I approved on the credit card form. I noticed this after the move, and a poor experience with management.
9) I took a picture of the open safe. It is positioned in my new residence up against a wall where it will not open. Management had no response to the open safe picture, even though the picture has a date/time stamp on it to prove the movers opened it and removed the door. I have yet to do a complete check of the safe contents, as I can't move it away from the wall myself. Later, management said that they told me to call Livonia Police while the movers were at my home. They did no such thing, as I would have made that call at their request, with no question.
10) At this point, I am working with the Michigan Better Business Bureau to help me. They have recommended a lawsuit in small claims court if they cannot resolve the damage claims. I noticed that this company has over 6 complaints in the past 12 months, and only one prior to that, on the BBB web site. I will work with the Livonia Police on anything missing from the safe.
11) Fortunately, I moved into a gated community with cameras, gates, and guards at both entrances. Plus electronic entry. Those are the visible ones. The movers changed their attitude upon entering the new neighborhood.
Conclusion: There are tons of moving companies in business. Don't hire Morse Moving and Storage. They have been dishonest with me and are only interested in one time deals. No interest whatsoever in repeat business or referrals. This company appears to take the money and run.

UPDATE SINCE COMPANY'S RESPONSE TO ANGIE'S LIST: RESPONSE TO LIES BY UPPER MANAGEMENT

My AL Complaint Contact strongly advised me to update this report, after reading the company's ridiculous response.

1) Since when do packers take the door off of a safe to move it, since it is heavy??? What happens to the valuables inside during transport? Obviously they would fall out. And low level workers, who are strangers, have access to those valuables.
How a picture of a safe door taken off by movers could be and quot;confusingand quot; to a moving company is ridiculous!
2) My cousins helped me life the mattress to take a picture of the damage. This hardly qualifies as and quot;someone coming in to move the mattressand quot;. It was done about 10 days after the move.
3) As far as damage being noted on a Bill of Lading, those packers/movers do not admit to damaging your possessions - ever. They point out pre-existing damage to you and note that, so that they are not responsible for those. i.e. The only damage the movers found was cracked glass on a small framed picture.
4) The Bill of Lading that I was sent months after the move contained two columns of and quot;extra chargesand quot; over the estimate. I actually called the credit card company to see why I was charged for one extra amount, then credited for part of it. The higher amount was billed as a 2nd day of work. All work was performed in one day.
5) The Claims Manager knew exactly who I was and when I moved, since her email response indicated she knew me. And that her movers were responsible. Now upper management states that their own management is unfamiliar with timeframes to submit damages. On the only task this person performs? And a brand new mattress was already damaged? I don't believe it a word of it. The Claims Manager never disputed that the movers flipped the mattress over a 2nd floor balcony, which was the cause of the damage.
6) On a previous move, I was overcharged and emailed a copy of a weight ticket. I went thru days of arguing over that until Morse admitted that weight included my automobile, which they did not move. It was out sourced. I did receive a refund on that one.

CONCLUSION:

The upper management, a family member of a family business, is so ignorant of how her own business works? Read the entire report and her stupidity/dishonesty is obvious.

Dishonest companies will lie every time to CYA. Both AL and the BBB have stated that I should sue in small claims court. To other members: Don't use this mover EVER!
Response from Morse Moving & Storage
"Our goal at Morse Moving is that all moves go without incident and it appears that this move did not according to the comments made by Ms. (Member) and I apologize for that. On the Bill of Lading it is documented in red that claims have to be filed within 10 days of delivery. The claim form also says that claims have to be filed before 10 days of delivery. Our claims manager is not always aware of the time frames until the claim form comes back and all the backup documents are pulled. If something was marked on the bill of lading that she had a claim - that also would work in the customers behalf to let us know of a claims problem. There is no documentation on the bill of lading that the mattress was torn or ripped at the time of moving it. This is the reason why the claim was denied on the mattress - 20 days after the move took place it seems that she had someone come and move the items. If, as the customer states, she noticed the mattress was ripped and soiled at the time of the move - nothing was documented. The sofa tears were denied for the same reason. Cushions are not removed from sofas before stretch-wrapping them for safe relocation. I am also somewhat confused as to her comments on her safe. As far as all documentation we have in the customer's file - nothing was missing. Our crews stated they removed the door of an open safe - because the door is as heavy as the safe and they removed it so that it could be moved safely. If the police were to be involved, which they would of been, if something was missing that also would of been taken care of in a timely manner. The comments from the customer at the time of move was that the crew was doing a great job (even commented on the bottom of the bill of lading). Her only comment was that the crew packed her day planner that she could not find and took the door off her safe. Ms. (Member) said that she was going to wait because the planner may turn up when she was finished unpacking. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you."

We did the packing and boxing but they did all the furniture. We were very pleased with the move. Everything was in good shape and we had no complaints. They were the only company that would send a representative out. Everybody else wanted to give an estimate over the phone. We don't know if anybody had a better price but there were some that were higher. We would use them again.

I WAS NOT HAPPY USING THIS COMPANY. I HAVE ITEMS THAT ARE MISSING AND THE OFFICE CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY. I WAS NOT OFFERED INSURANCE NOR ANY COMPENSATION. I DIDN'T THINK I NEEDED TO WATCH OVER THE MOVE. I WAS WRONG.
