Stone Vision

We had this company install our original counters.  We called them back when we wanted to make a change.  
This time was completely different.  We started asking for prices in January and kept getting excuses as to why they were not delivered.  Fast forward to March, we finally got a price.  So now we were anxious to get it done - The price came via text message - Nothing on a proposal with terms etc.  
We selected the texted Carrera Marble.  We are then told that he could not get the marble at that price.  Even though the text clearly says it is for the marble.  (we have this same material on a wet bar which was consistently referenced as the material quoted)  We are then sent pictures of marble that was in our budget.  Looked good but had many flaws.  It was supposedly being shipped from Italy.  
Less than a week later we are told to go to a local warehouse to look for what we wanted and we could get a confirmed price.  We find what we want and let them know.  Then we are told we can't have what we want, but that the marble that fits in our budget would be coming in from Italy.  
Another week, it arrives (from Italy in a week? Stop!) and we are sent pictures.  It looks like a completely different marble - without the flaws.  We agree to that marble.  
We are told because we are "friends", he was giving us a deal.  We are not friends, never were.  We have never had anything other than a business relationship, we have never seen him outside of installing our counters, and never asked for a " deal".  ~~~WEIRD!
We arrange an install date which changes four times.  Each time, we have to rearrange our busy schedules accordingly.
Clearly in the quote, we have re-purpose of old granite counters to use for our garage and the cost of cutting and placing.  The install date comes.  Turns into an entire two-day event, Saturday and Sunday.  We are told several times it is because of the garage install (mind you- it is IN our quote-not our problem if it took longer than he quoted)
The kid he brings to install is young!.  Nowhere near the experience of the installer on our first job.  He lies about his years of experience which becomes obvious after he admits his age.  Despite the timing, the install went ok - A few minor details that will bug us and could have been "repaired had the seasoned installer been on site".  We will live with that.  There was an area however, that was to receive a short (same size as old) back splash.  It was much larger than the old and was pieced together with rough edges.  It looked horrible.  We sent pics.  
It was to be  picked up Monday and we were told they would return with it in perfect condition.  Monday, Excuses - Tuesday, Excuses - Finally picked up Wednesday.  He texted that he would return it Saturday the 23rd and install it.  Saturday came - nothing.  Via text he says he never promised our complimentary back splash on Saturday.  I remind him with a cut and paste copy of his text that he did indeed and we PAID for it, it was NOT complimentary.  He apologizes and again mentions how we are friends.  At this point, we are thinking if this is how he treats his "friends" imagine how he treats his customers.  More waiting and a Sunday promise.  
It is now Tuesday the 26th.  Nothing.  We asked him to leave it on our porch we did not even want him to install it.  Nothing - So we are out of a backsplash- on to plan B and another contractor to finish the job - So many excuses it is not even worth writing them all out they are so unbelievable! - From start to finish there were more than 20 different excuses for poor timing, lack of a proper proposal, timing on install etc. etc.  In hindsight, we should have gone with another company that also quoted. We have a feeling it would have saved a ton of grief.  So if you have a ton of time, have the patience for a ton of excuses and sub-par craftsmanship, this is your guy.  Otherwise, get a couple more quotes.  You will be glad you did.
