The repair went fine as expected. A new muffler was installed and welded to the existing resonator. From there, things went downhill. I did not drive the truck the 1.8 miles home (my wife did). When I started the car two days later for the first time, the check engine light was on. I went to AutoZone to get a reading and the code was for a oxygen sensor malfunction near the exhaust manifold on the same side of the truck as the exhaust repair. This sensor was not in the immediate vicinity of the repair, but was on the system of pipes. I did the obvious and called Rochester Hills Tire and they wanted me to bring it in immediately so they could check to see if they had done anything wrong during the repair. I did, and soon after, they reported that they did not visually see anything that would lead them to believe that they were at fault. They did say that they would give me an excellent deal on a new oxygen sensor. So, either the repair of the muffler caused the oxygen sensor to malfunction or the sensor broke during the 1.8 mile drive home. I was told that I own an old truck and that these things break easily. That is true. The problem that I had was that I left the car with the shop to repair the muffler. I also did so fully knowing that they were marking up the muffler 120% on the part alone, not including the labor charge. I was OK with this because I needed someone who could weld the muffler and resonator. When the sensor malfunctioned upstream from the repair immediately after returning home, I figured that they should replace the sensor free of charge ($40 part). After all, I paid a lot of money to get the exhaust fixed in the first place! They did not agree, we had a heated exchange at the desk. They wanted proof that they had done wrong. Of course, all I had was a faulty sensor because I was not watching them work on the truck. They did clear the fault code from the system, so we wait to see if it comes up again. They called me back after I left the shop and assured me that we could work something out if the code comes up again. On the principle of the matter, I was floored that they let me walk out of the shop taking no responsibility for the issue. I have an old truck, I get it, maybe the take-away here is that if you have a car that isn't new, find somewhere else to take it. I try to support independent shops. I was raised in a family who owned an independent shop (fork lifts, not cars). The combination of high part mark-ups and a lack of willingness to acknowledge a mistake that was 99.9% certainly made while my truck was in their possession probably means that I will never go back to this place. My search for a repair shop that I can trust in the Rochester area continues... I will update this review if things change in the future...

They have fair prices and give great service. They're really nice people. I've used them over 30 years or so. They're very good and very reliable. When they quote you something, it's that amount or less. They do the work right.

I called ahead the day before and asked if I could bring my car in when they opened to get its oil changed. They told me if I showed up a couple of minutes before they opened I could check my car in and they'd have me out within the hour. I did exactly that and, despite not being officially opened, I was let in to drop off my car and check it in. I had my 18 month daughter along with me and had planned to walk down to a close coffee shop to kill the time. Their lobby/waiting area was large, clean, comfortable, and contained free coffee and pop corn so I decided to give staying there a shot. Everyone I spoke to was happy, polite, and outwardly nice to my daughter.
It was nice walking away paying a reasonable price for an oil change without having 100 unnecessary services offered. I plan to take both my wife and my cars there for any future service needs. It isn't the cheapest shop on the block but it seems to come with great service and at least the outward projection of being very trustworthy. Both virtues that make paying a few extra bucks well worth it.

They changed the oil and the coolant but called me and advised that the rear brakes were in good shape and did not need to be changed. I had assumed that my car would need rear brakes as it had over 100,000 miles on it (the front brakes had been replaced twice).
I was amazed that this store declined to do a requested repair because it didn't need to be done.
I have also in the past purchased tires and had the suspension repaired at this facility. I have never been dissappointed -

The workers at Rochester Hills Tire and Service, Inc. did a quality job and were upfront about the cost and time needed to do all the work, as they always are. For the last 12 years, this has been my go-to place for all my standard car maintenance and repair work from oil changes and tire rotations up through head gasket replacement. Several times I have taken my auto in for estimates on what I thought would be major costly repairs and they have fixed the problems with a minor repair - as a result, I feel I can trust them not to inflate the work that needs to be done or to replace expensive components that don't need replacing just to improve their bottom line. In this trip, they did have to replace the front struts and do an alignment, but they also did a little work on the steering column mating to the rack-and-pinion gear assembly to reduce some non-critical and quot;grindingand quot; during sharp wheel turns that GM cars are subject to, and they did not charge me any extra labor for this. They are not super-fast (oil changes take about an hour, my strut work took about 3 1/2 hours) but the quality of their work is outstanding, they are always busy (since their other customers also know they are great service providers) and they are always upfront about the time and costs for their work/repairs. I love these guys!

I took our van in to have the brakes checked and we had a rattle under the van upon acceleration that I wanted them to look at. They called with an estimate on the brakes, which was a reasonable estimate, and they said they found the problem casuing the rattling and fixed it. When I came to pick up the van, they had only charged me for the fixing the breaks because fixing the rattle was not that big of an issue and did not take much time. I apreciate their honesty and integrity. They also were very responsive because I called the day before and they said they could fit in the next day. I have used them before for tire repair and installation and they are always very professional and responsive.

I have a 15 year old Saturn station wagon and they keep it running which makes me happy. They have an attitude of "you want to keep this old 15 year old car running, then this is what we need to do" and that's why I go back there. They know how to please me. They will drive you home if they can't get it done fast.

I bought tires from them and so they will switch the tires for me for free. They have always been very friendly and very fair. Their prices were good and they matched another place that I had got on the internet. I have been completely satisfied with everything they have done. They are good and I would recommend them.
