Tom was simply amazing. I called him due to a leaking shower and was ready to proceed with ripping out the tile, inserting a new pan and retiling. However, Tom suggested we check the plumbing fixtures and he solved the problem by fixing one of the plumbing connections on the spot. Furthermore, he wouldn’t even accept payment in spite of my insistence. Very knowledgeable and credible guy. He’s at the top of my list for any tile or bath related work!

We were very hesitant to hire a tile contractor because of our past experience with a tile contractor was very bad. We started looking on Angie’s List and got 4 estimates on the Job. Only 2 of the contractors that we got estimates from were willing to come out and look at the job in person to give us a quote. Tom from Custom Tile and Marble was one of those 2 contractors.
Tom’s quote came in right in the middle of the 4 quotes that we received and his quote was the only one that included a real cement base below the porcelain tile and not cement board like the other 3 quotes. His quote was also the only quote that would include moving the furniture and appliance out of the kitchen and back in when complete.
One of our major concerns with hiring someone to do this job was having it drag on forever and being without a kitchen for several weeks.Tom assured us that he did not juggle big jobs like ours and he would have it complete in a week. He lived up to his promise and completed the job on time as promised.
The kitchen turned out beautiful, and I am a very picky customer! Tom was at the house on time every day when promised and always professional and in full communication with us when we had questions or concern. He even recommended a tile store for us and got us a discount on the tile.
I would highly recommend Custom Tile and Marble!

We had many plumbers check for leaks through out the years since our tiled, upstairs bathroom was remodeled in 1997. There was a persistant leak which stained kitchen ceiling. In spite of numerous caulking, the leak persisted.
Finally, Jim Peterson Plumbing was called and investigated leak, found that tub was installed incorrectly, leading to water pooling at corner and seeping under tub and causing major leak.
Tile man, Tom Paquette was called in to access what could be done. It was determined that for a permanent fix, all the tile should be removed to at least see what damage there was to wood underneath. When this was done, the extent of damage to supporting beams and sub floor, floor over that, was major, with rotting wood taking place.
We worked with Mr. Paquette to find a cost effective but pretty remodel with new tiles for floor and shower walls. Rotting beams were removed and replaced and floor replaced. Wall tiles outside of shower area had tiles originally but were replaced with wall board, saving some cost to us.We eliminated the tub completely, opting for a roomy shower. We kept the vanity, which may have been our mistake because the splash guard tile broke when removed. This was replaced with matching tile and worked out well.
Since we are seniors, we had grab rails installed in shower area and a new, higher toilet installed.
We found Mr. Paquette easy to work with and felt that he did his very best, which showed when he was in communication with us as to time and work to be done and cost. He worked in conjunction with Jim Peterson plumbing but was the contractor who was responsible. This project was finished on schedule; ran slightly over original estimate but putting in new flooring took extra labor and time.

He did a very god job. He was very responsive and accommodating. He came over early in the morning to look at the job and give me an estimate.the only negative was that his recommendations were more tailored to making his work easier (e.g., fewer cuts) than what was more aesthetically pleasing for me. Despite that, I would still recommend him to others.

Tom was exceptional. He worked with my ever changing requests, and still maintained his original price quote. He removed all the tiling from my bathroom floor, laid cement (not inferior cement board), tiled the floor, the walls, as well as a sides plash for the sink.
I would highly recommend his services and use him again.

At first I spoke with Tom on the phone and then we communicated a lot by text message. I was able to text him images of the project area and provide him information on the tile I was interested in by text as well. He provided his estimate by text after having come out in person to see my fireplace. I didn't really mind, but I do generally prefer to have a more detailed estimate with a breakdown of all the work to be done.

Sometimes I didn't hear back from Tom right away by phone/text when we were trying to get the job scheduled, but he did always respond and was very punctual and dependable when he was coming out to do the work.

Tom was great about asking my opinion when he was deciding how to finish some things off, since everything about the job wasn't perfectly straightforward. He also obviously knows what he is doing with tile and has a good sense of style, so he didn't really need my guidance very much. I was a little concerned about the unevenness of the tiles as they were installed (which was caused by the different tile thicknesses), but after seeing everything installed and grouted, I love it! Everything seems very solid.

All of the tile cutting was done outside and I never had a mess inside or out. Tom seems to be very organized and completed his work quickly, but without rushing through the job. I did not get any other estimates for the work, but his price seemed pretty comparable to tile installation pricing that I saw online.

Tom the tile guy is the best! So friendly and considerate! He did a great job and was far less expensive than another tile man I used. Won't go anywhere else now.

He provided a quote and he followed up with all the questions we had. He did a wonderful job on our tile, which was completed in about a week from start to finish. He was prompt every day and put cloth and rugs down to protect our floor.
There may be cheaper alternatives out there, but remember you get what you pay for and Tom is worth every penny.
We could not ask for a more beautiful tile job.

Tom responded to my initial call promptly and visited the home and prepared an estimate within a few days. He proposed an estimate that was competitive and he didn't change his prices in the middle of the job too much with "add-ons". He did an excellent job! Not only did he do what he said he would do but he also consulted with me on other issues in the bathroom that other contractors might have ignored because it wasn't part of their job. We ended up adding a new subfloor, tub, and toilet to the job. He arrived every morning on time and cleaned up each day he was at the house. He has a great personality and I felt extremely comfortable with him and his recommedations. There is no doubt that I would hire him again to work on a project. It's too bad he only does tile.

He arrived at my home and looked at the project. He requested a hammer and I was not sure the reasoning for the hammer. He then began to bang up my bathroom flooring and tear it apart, assuming that he would get the job. I was in such a state of shock I had no idea he would do that. He came completely unprepared, arriving on a motorcycle without any tools. He also asked me for a piece of paper to write his bid down. I called back the next day and left him a message informing him I would not be giving him the job. I felt that his actions were unprofessional considering we had never agreed or signed a contract that he'd be given the job.

Tom clearly knows his stuff with marble/tile. Overall the job was completed on time, on budget and with good results. I liked his attention to detail in making sure that the seams lined up. He suggested using the same marble with a beveled edge for the doorway, which I wouldn't have thought of and it looks great. I wish he would have been a bit tidier. I had grout on my wallpaper, mud on my baseboards and cement water on my grass. But the floor looks terrific and overall I am happy with the job.

Tom responded to my call within an hour and set up a time to come and check out the job. He checked everything out and made some recomendations which worked out really well , gave us a estimate that seemed fair and actually the finish price came in lower. His work was very good it looks better than the original bench. Tom always kept in touch if there were problems about when he would be coming to the house. All the work was done in a very reasonable amount of time he was just a good guy who cares about the work he does and makes sure you are happy with it.

My husband and I were remodeling our basement from its bones. We installed a bathroom with a custom shower as well as a bar area. Prior to finding Tom, our plumber had TRIED to pour our concrete floor as a favor while he was doing the other work, but needless to say it was done terribly. After having three quotes for our tile project, Tom was the ONLY person to notice the poor quality of the previously poured floor and shower pan - and thankfully so - within about a week of him giving us a quote the floor poured by our plumber had already started cracking (we already had "adventures" with water in our basement and this would have been disastrous). After removing the bad floor, Tom re-poured the custom shower bed and started fresh with a new shower pan. The slope for water to naturally fall into the drain is perfect (I can tell by just standing over it) and we have peace of mind knowing everything was done correctly. As for the aesthetics of our final project - perfect in every way! I need to point out that I am meticulous and hard to please. While I agree perfection in certain areas of home improvement may not be as critical as in other areas, tile is not something you want to go "cheap" or "it's fine" on. Go with an EXPERT not just someone who does tile on the side. Tom perfectly cut the angle by our steps, blended all the tiles across our floor very well (we had a faint pattern that he matched up so nicely from tile-to-tile) and offered a few design suggestions at our request, and we took him up on them. We also had the ceiling over the shower tiled and Tom suggested some beautiful marble to use for our threshold and a "half-wall" we have on one side of the shower. We love Angie's List but will not be using it for a tile man in the future because our loyalty is with Tom now. We would recommend him to anyone. Please see enclosed pictures of Tom's work.
