The finish is bumpy like sand paper and there are holes and pockets that did not get treated which allow for water to permeate behind the tiles. Additionally, they did not treat all the way to the floor so there is a stipe at the base of the tub. The caulk job is even worse... puddles of caulk and big blobs of caulk on the rim of the tub..
We were upset right away so they took money off which did not resolve the issue. We paid extra for a warranty and were very concerned that the application was so bad the warranty would be invalid.
We tried to work something out with these guys. The manager said they would come out and spray over the mistakes with a rock finish which is thicker. This is a historical project and we did not want the rock finish. We were also concerned that trying to cover one very bad job with another would look even worse.
We considered it for a minute and wanted to be sure that the guy who installed the first horrible job would not be the installer on the second job. After many evasive texts we find out that the person who did the terrible job is the only installer.
I spoke to the manager who said he would not come to Ann Arbor to look over the bad job. All he would offer was for the same guy who clearly does not know how to do this kind of work to come back out. We asked for our money back and they said no.
We got independent feedback from professionals in the field and they all agreed it was a terrible job. The only way to save it is to have it completely stripped (about $900.00) and then refinished ($600.00). We ended up filing a Better Business Bureau Complaint which the company never even responded to. We told the manager that we just wanted the money we paid them and if they refunded it we would not go after them for the cost of having to have it stripped down. They said no refunds ever.
I joined Angie's List BECAUSE of Motor City Refinishing so I am very disturbed to see them under the Angie's List Banner.
I tried to get information on the "warranty" and it turns out the warranty is simply the (what appear to be) two guys who run this so called business. The warranty is a scam.
There are several complaints against them with BBB. They get these closed by not responding. We will be filing in Small Claims Court against them for the full amount of damages if we do not receive our refund soon.
I had a business from Angie's List come view the project and he agreed it was not professionally done , would not seal out water and had a terrible finish.
I will be contacting Angie's List Monday to find out how these guys got on.
