Horrible experience!  Contacted the company's office on 5/11/15 after our water heater installed in July of 2014 by Fox Plumbing quit working.  Requested a repair or replacement as the unit was still under warranty.  My brother-in-law explained to the woman that he had checked the current in the heating element and found it good.  Checked for current in the outlet and it was good.  I asked if someone could come out that day, as we do not live here and were leaving for downstate that day.  She said they were very busy and offered the next Saturday for an appointment as my husband would be up there then along with other company we were expecting.  The unit is outside our cabin in small pump house.  I asked if we left the pump house unlocked, with power on to the unit,  could someone possibly come sooner as we were expecting company the next weekend.  She stated she didn't make the schedule and she would contact me if this were a possibllity. (which I thought was strange because she did just offer the Saturday appointment)  I did not find the office staff very friendly or willing to accomodate either.  I called her on 5/13/15 and asked if we were on the schedule yet. She stated that she had just spoken with my husband (he works out of state) and she would check with her boss and get back to me.  Shortly after,  she called back and said the unit had been repaired.  The heating element was replaced and the repair person speculated we burnt it out because we tried turning the unit on without water.  I was confused by this and told her there was water in the tank as it remained in the unit from our last visit.  We did not winterize and drain it on our previous visit because the weather was warmer.  I called my brother-in-law who had initially checked the currents in the unit,  and he stated there was nothing wrong with the heating element. My son went to the cabin on 5/14/15 and found there was no hot water.  He found a bill for $150.00 for the repair.  He called Fox Plumbing and told them the unit was still not working.  The repair person was irate, said he was not coming back out, to call someone else, he had more important customers to take care of.  Upon finding this out my husband called Matt, the owner, and asked why he left a bill for something that was still not functioning and when would he be able to come out and repair the unit.  He was told he could "go f*** himself", he was not coming back out, and he didn't care about the warranty.  I tried calling the company (and Matt) .  It was Friday 5/15/15 at 7:00 pm and I received the answering service.  I received no return call.  I had people staying at my cabin with no hot water and it was a Friday evening.  I left messages for several plumbers in the area.  We were able to get a very kind and professional plumber (Boynton Plumbing) to come out that day.  He found a wire leading to the heating element was broken and he  replaced that on a Saturday evening for $85.00 even though he himself was very busy.
In July 2014 we found Fox Plumbing to be very accommodating .  We had several things done at that time, including installation of a new water pump, piping , and a new toilet.  The total job was over $1000.00.  (this was done in two service calls.  The 2nd installer did have to redo some of the initial installers handywork at his suggestion, not ours)  They had no problem selling us this job.  We were not too far out in the boonies then.   But what a difference in demeanor when they had to service a previous job under warranty.  Had no interest in being accommodating then, after all they have better customers than we.   Add to this the fact that the owner is totally unprofessional in conduct and failed to even see if the unit was working after his attempt to repair it.  Communication within this company is poor between office staff, owners, and repair personnel.  They are a very big company in the Houghton Lake area but I would never recommend them to anyone.

The guys showed up first thing in the morning and got right to work shortly after I called. They found the septic tank and discovered the blockage was roots growing through the drain pipe. They took care of the problem. Very professional. Very punctual. And, I believe, very reasonably priced. Thank you. I will definitely recommend this company to others.

Two guys showed up. They were polite, punctual and professional. The work was completed in less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately I received a huge shock when they presented me with the bill. $280. I told him I thought that was outrageous. The plumber said he agreed with me, but that is what his boss told him to charge me. I wrote the check and he said he would tell his manager I was upset about the cost. The next day I called to speak to the manager. I had to leave my name and number because he was not available and he would call me back. I have not received that call yet. I will be calling him again. If it is adjusted, I will write more in my review. Just beware. Get estimate first. I usually do, but didn't think it was necessary for an easy job like this. My mistake.

"This was written July 11th on Thursday. I'm very sorry I didn't get back with you before I did but we have been very, very busy and so I had my secretary call & she did send you out a refund for some of the charge. We are a flat rate company & the tech didn't say it was for the same person...which the charges would have been less. All I can say is I'm sorry it was a miss communication on our part."

Professional company has answering service, always returned all my calls leading up to the appointment. Showed up on Saturday for no additional charge, completed all repairs, cleaned up after themselves, price quoted over phone was fairly accurate. Went over all the work and checked it out before he left, just to make sure everything was working and no leaks, which is a rare trait in any contractors. Would definitely refer and do business again

"We would like to thank you for your business. We understand that a lot of people around this area only come up on the week-ends so we try to accommodate their schedules when possible. We take pride in the quality of our work so that we make the customer happy and they will call us again when they need any other service. Thank you again!"

Called on a Saturday morning for a leaking pipe. Very prompt, curteous service. Took extra steps to make replacing vanity easier for us. Also checked hot water tank for buildup - saving us an extra service call. Would highly recommend.
